all right folks, you know the routine:  it's tuesday.

i've got a laptop coming tonight so i want to stay close to home in bergen county so i can get back and play with it. any idea?

I'm thinking that On the Border is probably your best bet, then! (Snicker, snicker...) :raz:

Hi Everyone,

Hi' ya Tommy!

I missed the pig roast, was not sure if I could have attended with out preparing something. See, I found out at the last minute and didn't have the time.

Anyway!

Just tuned in on this tread, and I have to say if any of you EGS members don't try San Vito's in beautiful Bayonne, NJ you are doing yourself and your taste buds a disservice. (Rosie I would like your help on this)

Nuff Said, the rest is on you.

The Restaurant--Hackensack.

Frank's Restaurant, North Bergen

rosie, is The Restaurant a place where one might dine alone, preferably at a bar?

Frank's did nothing to me but make me wish i had my money back. i know i'm in the minority with that assessment, but i trust myself.

chefreit, is san vito's a good place for solo-bar-dining? a bit out of the way for me tonight, but it could be an option moving forward.

Having just read about the "grilled cheese" you make at home, I'm wondering why you don't just go THERE, open a bottle of wine, make a "grilled cheese," and get that new PC going!!!

Great!  What time should we be there?   :raz:

that depends on how much you know about setting up wireless networks.

i'm also considering ordering from this new-ish place in Glen Rock that's right next to Bottle King and the Kosher Nosh. it's basically italian and not all that notable, but they do some decent italian-american stuff. BYO. place escapes me, although i think it's called Mangeria's or somesuch.

I worked in Bayonne for several years (early to mid 90s) a block from San Vitos - and I have to concur - San Vito's was awesome.

I have yet to find pizza that good anywhere near me  Love their white pizza!

Also, when you are in Bayonne, stop at the Pride Bakery (1-2 blocks north of San Vitos) for some incredible Russian Rye. (and other goodies)

I miss Bayonne!!

So...where's the report, Tommy?!?

thanks for the feedback everyone.

i was driving around last night and got to thinking about White Castle. and once i get to thinking about something, that's the way it happens. 4 White Castles and a double cheeseburger. went in as opposed to sitting in the drive-thru, and got out of the place with my food before a single car moved from the speaker. (hackensack/little ferry).

tonight i'm going to stalk ant-nee, as i know where he's eating. tomorrow night i'll be back here looking for suggestions, although i'm thinking that place that Glenn has been talking about in JC looks probable, or perhaps even P&O for some wine and food at the bar. more to come.

Yup...I'll be at Joel's...

How is Joel's lately?  Haven't been there in ages...

probably the same. i find the food too sweet and not terribly challenging or interesting. although he's not really trying to challenge.

his soups remain incredible, and it's nice to have something like Joel's in the area.

Yeah, I like it also.

I know it's not the cultural Mecca of the tri state area, but we are moving on -up!

Five waterside parks, it’s safe, clean, truly one the last strong holds in Hudson County.

PS: Also we have Cafe Bello.

does san vito's have beer/wine? is it a place that one might feel comfortable dining solo? i'm giving bayonne some very serious consideration for tonight.

and, of course, it's tuesday, so any suggestions would be lovely. looking for solo-dining-friendly-wine-list place. good food too, of course.

That's because you're SO difficult.

I'm meeting a friend and her 9 month old daughter at Short Hills Mall...think of the thrilling dinner choices WE'LL have!

Honestly, I think you should wait 'til tomorrow night and I'll join you. But you'll still have to come up with the place!!

I got a suggestion. Why don't you hop on a plane, fly down to West Palm, rent a car, drive a 1/2 hour south to Delray Beach and right in town on Atlantic Ave is a nice Tapas place called Mano A Mano. Decent inexpensive wine list, good strong mixed drinks, wonderful white anchovies. A roasted onion with Cabrales. A nice skirt steak. It sure beats gut bombs from WC.
