Yes!  I mentioned the first chapter about New Orleans over here, when @ProfessionalHobbit was visiting the city.  That chapter and two recipes can be read in the Amazon preview and give a good sense of the book.

I very much enjoy his writing and I think it's an excellent read.   It's more of a memoir than a cookbook, although each chapter does include a couple of recipes.

No photos either, though they are available on his website or Instagram.  He says, "I want you to pay attention to the aromas, flavors, textures, to the feel of the food in your mouth. Don't worry if what you make doesn't look good enough to be on the cover of a magazine. If it tastes good, you've succeeded."

YES!  Just posted in the other food book thread.  Pick it up and read it soon...more memoir than cookbook.

Nothing.  Do not quote me on this.

Yes I sometimes get so involved in cooking I forget that my first love is and always will be language. When the two join up  I am in heaven.

NO!  NEVER.

He was a man, take him for all in all,
I shall not look upon his like again.

Remember back in the "old days" when eG would have Spotlight Conversations with various chefs?  He would be a dynamite one I believe.

True, "Skull Fucked by a Walrus" was inimitable.  I just meant I would love to see those Conversations restarted and he would be a good one.
