My library showcases new books, many cookbooks.  I recently picked up this one :

http://www.amazon.com/Cognitive-Cooking-Chef-Watson-Innovation/dp/149262571X

Watson is of course an IBM computer initially designed to be 'cognitive' , taking on 'Jeopardy' champs and eventually beating them.

enough about that.

This book uses Watson to come up with new Rx ideas based on Surprise , Pleasantness , and Synergy,  after Watson was trained on

thousands of Rx's

real chefs work out the rest. perhaps your library ( system ) has the book ?

some random Rx's :

Bengali Butternut BBQ Sauce  , Portuguese Lobster Roll, Greek Feta Burger

i have not tried any Rx yet, but thinking about a few of the Rx's Ive read through there are interesting Ideas here.

So far, Watson seems to have missed SV entirely.

I remember a news piece on cooking with Watson some time last year....probably on CBS's Sunday Morning show.

Nothing is better than frying in lard.

Nothing.  Do not quote me on this.

I always wondered where those try-hard restaurants get their creative ideas that never quite seem to come together.
