While a simple search on Amazon brought up lots and lots of books (go ahead, click it), I have found Corby Kummer's The Joy of Coffee to be a very useful companion.

NY Time's reporter Michaele Weissman's God in a Cup covers what's been going on recently.

Timothy Castle's book is my favorite all in one book for information on buying, preparing and tasting coffee.

The best, most comprehensive book I've seen to date on coffee has to be "The Book of Coffee and Tea" by Joel, Karl, and David Schapira.

Tim Castle is incredibly knowledgeable, and one of a few palates that I consider exceptional. (This one is on my 'to read' list)

The Espresso Quest by Instaurator has some incredible photography, as well as history.

I've also heard this one is great, but good luck finding a copy. (Andrea Illy: Chemistry of Quality)
