I just went food shopping, bought some of these what I thought originally to be a turnip variant. I've got home and realised that I've probably just bought some round Daikon. Am i right?

If not, what the hell has my lack of knowledge led me to discover, and what can i do with it.

Cheers.

I can't eat potatoes because of the carbs/sugar, and have found these to be a good substitute in stews and other dishes. They are very low in carbohydrates. I cut in them in cubes and pan roast them until they are golden and have given up most of their water (otherwise they get mushy). Even though they are radishes, I find they have a pleasant turnip flavor and have much more satisfying flavor than Daikon. One of my fave vegetables.

They are also delicious prepared like Kim Chi or in Moo Kuk. You can find lots of Korean recipes and ideas if you Google "Korean Radish". I hope some of the creative people here have other ideas.

Thanks for the identification, I reckon they have a future in stir fries. What kind of stews do you use them with?

Calum, I remember life being difficult at the end each term, but really turnips?!

I had a stew planned, they would have gone in that. Better than living off rustlers.

You know ive got a very good feeling that you might be right there, they do look like that. I think we might be back in Turnip Town.

B/C of the stalks sticking out, it kind of looks like a small celeriac/celery root. But I'm just taking a shot in the dark.

Celery Root has a very rough, outer surface.

Is it a kabu?

If so, you can use it as you would a turnip.

Thats become the fore runner, i reckon thats the one now. But then i thought that before. I'll use it in a turnip context and see what happens.
