I had never heard of flocking in cooking. (I think of flocking a Christmas tree.) I learned something new this morning!

Those Lee Valley jar seal gizmos are wonderful! I use mine all the time!

I read and accept your aversion to rolled oats, but I wonder what your well-meaning mom tried to sell you. I can't abide sweet cereals or gummy "quick oats". Nor have I tolerance for breakfasts that take more than 10 minutes.
My solution: Old fashioned rolled oats, covered with water, microwaved for 5 to ? minutes, depending on the power of your nuker, splashed with heavy cream and good sprinkle of kosher or Maldon salt.
A cousin to grits or savory porridge.
I have never liked oatmeal because of the texture. My sister kept telling me to try overnight oat because it wasn't so slimy. I tried and it still didn't suit me. After losing my gall bladder recently, I read that oatmeal was a highly recommended food choice. I decided to try it again. I now put the oats in the dish, and just enough unsweetened almond milk to cover, let stand for an hour or so (or if I forget, I will nuke it for about 20-25 seconds, just until the milk is mostly absorbed. Then I stir in whatever I want--sometimes nuts, sometimes a little yogurt, sometimes honey, sometimes fruit. It has a little more chew to it this way and isn't slimy at all.

One of those things that just seems like too much work. But I might try with leftover risotto and baking. Thanks for that idea, @blue_dolphin. I suppose I could even use the air fryer function on my oven.

Funny this topic should pop up today as I just pulled out these 5-bladed scissors for herbs (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) that I received as a gift. I used them for the first time in all the years I've had them. Having done so, I can now donate them with a clear conscience. I can do a better job with a knife and the knife takes a fraction of the time to clean.
Those herb scissors look exactly like the probably useless paper-shredding scissors that are sold. Hmmm...did someone say, "Hey, these don't work well for herbs. I wonder what else we could market them for?"

Husband and I were both taken by this recipe for quick NAAN. He surprised me by printing out the recipe which I had previously and unknown to him bookmarked.
No pics, but simple prep and quite recognizable product. Tender and flavorful. Only butter on hand to dress them, so next time will have a tasty curry ready.
I just saved a quick naan recipe last week. I'll have to compare it to see how it is different from this one. Have not made it yet.

Paula has published several methods. I use a simpler one in which she advises cutting lemons into quarters, moosh with salt, pack in jars, fill with lemon juice and additional salt. Let molder for a week before using.
I like the fact that I can extract a single piece of lemon when wanted, as opposed to having to deal with a whole lemon.
Will look up the precise recipe if anyone interested.
I'd love the recipe, please.

A huge loss for her family, friends and all of us here at eG. Many condolences to all her family.

I was at Costco yesterday and did not see them, but might make a trip back to double-check!

I did cancel my Imperfect subscription. My order period opened at 1 pm yesterday. I clicked on at 1:08. There was nothing left that I wanted. Something is wrong with their system. They asked why I was cancelling and I told them. Maybe they will get better. Also prices were way high. I know they are everywhere, but I can definitely do better than that.

I'd try that!

Yes, I did mean Imperfect. Sorry I didn't clarify that.

I should have taken photos (there are a couple on my FB page), but friends sent a care package to us via A Spoonful of Comfort which I hadn't heard of before. Our package contained 2 generous cartons of chicken noodle soup, 6 delicious dinner rolls, chocolate chip cookies and a pretty ladle. The food was delicious and it was an unexpected, comforting treat. They offer boxes for many types of occasions and the cost isn't really much different than sending flowers. I would highly recommend them.

I have completed my special offer orders. I am due to put in another order on Monday. I will take a look and see what they have and what prices are. I still can't figure out how everything I want is sold out within minutes of the ordering time beginning. It is nuts! If it is the same this time, I am just going to cancel.

Definitely true, to a certain extent. But in this household, we are a bit beyond that. I don't really eat much junk. My husband is not well and is older--I'm much more concerned with making whatever time he has left as happy and comforting for him as possible.

A sausage and mushroom pizza worked for us.
Once upon a time, I'd have been horrified at the thought of not having a salad to go with that to make it a "real" meal. Now that I'm old and don't have energy or dexterity to do as much in the kitchen, I often serve just a pizza or sandwich or whatever. I figure at our ages, poor nutrition is not going to matter much in increasing our lifespan.

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread before, but having spent the better part of a week in the hospital recently, I can certainly appreciate it. Thankfully, I was so sick most of the time I was there, that I wasn't even tempted to try what was put before me. The Gall Bladder Gone Bad is not a diet I recommend, though it does shed the pounds.

With Butter Coffee being a thing for a few years or so, I'm not that surprised by it.

Sorry--this non-connoisseur was lumping all instant noodle-type products into one category. I'd likely even put Rice-a-Roni in the same category. 😉

I get this at Costco and keep it in the pantry to use for emergency/quickie meals. Easy to nuke and add protein/veggies and you can easily adjust the spiciness. I'm not a dry ramen connoisseur, but think these are the best I've tried.

@Maison Rustique, do you leave your starter out on the counter or do you keep it in the fridge until you
are ready to feed it again?
Ann, I leave it on the counter.

I bought these sprouted rolled oats at Costco the other day. My super quick soak does not work with these. I am going to have to try overnight,, as they were just way too chewy.
