    Dinner 2021

Make some sauerkraut and chop up some cooked pork roast and stir it in to heat it up. Serve with dumplings* and some potato pancakes. Along with the sauerkraut theme, you could make a knock-off Reuben sandwich with the roasted pork and call it a "Duvel". *Not Asian pot sticker dumplings but more along the lines of "Chicken and Dumplings".
  3. A co-worker brought in to work a package of the new Pop Tart Bites (click). I tried a few and have to say they aren't very good. The crust-to-fruit filling ratio is off...too much crust. They are frosted, too, but that didn't help much. Pass them by...

    Oreo Cookies

Limited edition Gingerbread Oreo's: Actually, not too bad. The ginger flavor isn't that over-powering. I could have done without the sugar crystals in the creme filling, but the flavor of the cookie is okay. Now it makes me wonder why they didn't do a half dark chocolate Oreo/half Gingerbread Oreo. Or would that be too weird?
  6. Trader Joe's is involved with this one. The patties in question are sold at Trader Joe's: "Innovative Solutions, Inc. Recalls Chicken Patty Products Due To Possible Foreign Matter Contamination" Product codes/details are in the article.
  7. "Euro Foods Dba Citterio USA Corp. Recalls Salame Stick Products Due To Possible Salmonella Contamination" Thought this was pertinent 'cause tis the season for a variety of meat sticks (for Xmas stocking stuffers).
  8. "Worst to come: pasta makers fret over durum wheat supply crunch" It's always something these days, ain't it?

  10. I bought some Almond Roca® Buttercrunch Popcorn this past weekend. The Werther's Caramel Popcorn I snacked on a while ago tasted much better than this. This Almond Roca Buttercrunch popcorn doesn't taste like Almond Roca to me. Just sweetness.
  11. The Lunchables still remain stuck somewhere in the supply chain. They could be sitting on a dock somewhere, unrefrigerated, and Walmart will still sell them to their customers (allegedly ). Here's a pic of the empty shelves dedicated to Lunchables at the Walmart Grocery store up the street from me: And now the Ritz crackers are stocked but the Keebler Club crackers (some dark green boxes left on the center shelf) have mostly gone missing. Damn those elves! And the missing Gladware, etc., previously pictured in my older post, all still remain missing.
  12. Just amazing... "Doug the ugly New Zealand potato could be world's biggest"
  13. Tastykakes are in the news... "Flowers Foods Issues Voluntary Recall on Certain Tastykake Multi-Pack Cupcakes Sold in Eight States Due to Possible Presence of Tiny Fragments of Metal Mesh Wire" The bolding in the quote text is mine, emphasizing US states impacted. Products codes can be found in the article.
  14. Another from a BookBub email this morning: "The Artisan Kitchen: The science, practice and possibilities" Kindle Edition $1.99US (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) The "Look Inside" feature shows actual pages from the cookbook. You can zoom in on the pages to read them better. Scroll down to see recipes. This cookbook contains 150 recipes. Look at this cookbook's Amazon info page to see what main topics are covered inside. I am a US Prime member and the price you see may vary.
  15. The nice thing about candy corn is you can use the same candy in your candle vase year after year after year and it will likely survive unscathed (might get a little chewy a few years down the road ).
