  1. Ever notice your butter after sitting out for a while?
  2. Well, it looks like the book was one of the many loaned to friends that never was returned. But you must be the winner.
  3. Ignatius Reilly is the totally self-absorbed lard ass (I'm thin) who thinks it's his god given right to pontificate on subjects that mean very little in the real world (I see a correlation to a lot of the posting here) from A Confederacy of Dunces. And Dennis Miller could take the word "the" and turn it into a four paragraph litany about the plight of the Shiites. Lest we forget, I'm not Michael Rhulman. Sorry to be self-absorbed, and pontificate (we'll leave my ass out of it) but it is Ignatius T. Reilly. Otherwise,
  4. I appreciate your posts. But isn't it Ignatius T.?
  5. Well, I'm glad you take tomatoes out of the picture. That was skeeving me out. I LOVE pickles and cheese. BUT I can't deal with hot pickles. I could see baking the pizza and adding the pickles after as I eat. Do you drink the brine?
  6. nightscotsman, are we both talking about the Alzheimer issue? My stepfather's a doctor, and other doctors we know all agree that aluminum is a scary thing. Also, I bought some dark brown tart tins because I couldn't find black steel, and they baked no browner than silver. VERY upsetting.
  7. That is right.
  8. And local would be.... Welcome!

    Paw paw

So dave is the only one who's tried one?
  10. Where do you buy your stemware??? And welcome. Spencer...wha?
  11. Isn't Yank Sing the BEST? I was going to mention it after the London example, but decided not to.
  12. I'm with you.
  13. For me, I don't dine (or eat anything, for that matter) on the street. In the park or a restaurant garden is okay. As long as it's not windy.
  14. Is that really a diner?
  15. No personal recs, but The New Yorker has a Best of 2003 this week. Something should be in there. Go to food media and news, under "Best of NY" GELATO. I'm sure you can find it from there?
  16. The combination of hot and cold would crack my teeth.
  17. I'm afraid of aluminum and try never to use it.
  18. A couple of points, here. Don't drink too much while eating, as it does detrract from the nutrients you should be absorbing. I usually drink a litre maybe, an hour or so before eating. Also, you don't want to be losing too much too quickly. That usually means deprivation, and you'll probably gain it back. What's the quote about slowly changing your habits? Also, why do you play basketball only once a month? So, if you're just under six feet varmint, how tall is vengroff???
  19. "There are three kinds of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't." You guys are killing me! Can I hear more about the pickle pizza? I'm reserving judgement until I hear the whole story.
  20. Damn, Mark, how'd you do that??? Myself, I'm a total bore. I love pepperoni
  21. I have an odd tip I don't think has been mentionned yet. When you roll the croissants into their final form, use the heel of your hand and press firmly to make a tight roll, rolling towards you. You'll get a tight, many layered roll. My $.02.
  22. I'm so glad you got responses. I was going to post yesterday, but the only recipe I've tried that worked, is for like... 300 or so croissants. TOO BIG!
  23. So, you use liquid red for this?
