    Meat Grinder Uses

Is there anything on rotten.com that ISN'T really disturbing?

    Rhubarb

Rhubarb leaves are so poisonous, you shouldn't even compost them.

    Buffalo Wings

Well I can't take a lot of cayenne, so the flavor of Frank's and not coughing for a half hour makes me happy.
  7. I was eating breakfast with a friend in a place long closed now on Colombus Ave. I found a thick steel grill brush bristle in my french toast. The manager ripped up the bill and walked away like Groucho Marx. We thought it was very odd.
  8. I'm still coming up blank!
  9. I wish it were that good a reason, Holly. They did it because people didn't want to eat fried food. The baked version (equal fat, I believe) was better for marketing. SUCKERS!
  10. I think my most missed Mc Donald's item is the fried apple pie. They were still selling them in Europe in '96.
  11. Is it me, or is anyone else having trouble getting to Helena's link? I tried other recipes there and they came up blank too.

    Buffalo Wings

I'm a great fan of Frank's as well. Right now I'm trying desparately to finish a bottle of Topatio. I'm so happy Costco sells nice big bottles of Frank's! In case there's anyone new coming to this thread (and frying), I just have to reiterate that when frying, do NOT fill the pot or pan any more than half way up. Plenty of oil is good, but the oil expands when heated, and rises when you drop stuff in, and then bubbles. So don't burn down the house! Elyse-police is done. For now.
  13. Well, Sandra, they're obviously insane.
  14. Sinclair, I'm glad they turned out well. I too have been toying with the idea of making my own cookie cutters for a few years. Now to be a pain in the ass: while heating plastic wrap may have worked out fine, I do believe heat releases toxins that you may not want to eat/serve. On the other hand, you may. But it may be worth looking into.
  15. I guess we all love halvah! I heard sesame seeds pulverized with honey will become halvah (just like that) but haven't tried it. Some chemical reaction. I believe that was a Wayne Harley Brachman foodtv tidbit. He has a halvah cream recipe there. I was never picky about what kind I ate. I never buy it anymore, because I don't eat some. I eat it ALL.
  16. Wax paper or plastic? They've always been a big help to me. Actually I use wax because it's slightly more environmental. I should look for some sturdy plastic to reuse and clean. You could also try putting a baking sheet in the freezer and rolling on that if the marble's too small.
  17. Glad to hear you guys are still working on pie. Klink, what are you rolling your crusts on? Jim, was the coconut oil frozen? Maybe that would help. And you could chill the rolling space too. You too klink. Keep me posted?

    cooking

Wrote this story somewhere else, but it was so disapointing, I'm doing it again. A friend of mine made a gorgeous pork roast. The next thing I knew, she had cut off everything brown and left a thin layer of gelatinous, white fat. There was almost no fat on it in the first place. Needless to say, it was dry and tasteless.

    PB&J Day: Today

One of my favorite soups is made with peanut butter. I suppose you could throw some meatballs in if you like.
  21. Well, which restaurant is it? I'm not against bad press, but if good press is available, let's hear it.
  22. That is hilarious!
  23. Even if you don't put the heat too close to the glass? or just too dangerous to do quickly?

    Cottage Cheese

One of my favorite things is cottage cheese with strawberries on top in the summer. Lowfat usually, small or large curd.
