You don't mind fucked up coke heads getting in your face for whatever reason strikes them at the time? Or heroine addicts who'll sell all of your belongings for a few fixes. That last one is a stretch, but it's happened to many friends of mine. Smokers are so much easier to avoid.

I'd rather have preground pepper than no pepper. Even if it comes out of a paper tube. Sometimes, I even pepper my fries. I can not STAND white pepper. I was so happy to hear Sara Moulton mention that certain chefs refuse to use it because they also don't like it. Finally, I wasn't a freak. Rebel that I am, after a few times of adding the white pepper when recipes called for it and hating the results, I used black.

Now I FEEL remarkably naive! Remarkable.

I actually like the "Icebox Cake." It was my birthday cake of choice as a kid. In the shape of an 'E.' I've never seen ti made with Cool Whip, though. Fresh whipped cream all the way. Also, Famous Wafers aren't sold at all supermarkets. I always call the company if I can't find an item. And Pretzel Goldfish were out when I was a kid. Tasted like baking soda.

Mine caramelize jes fine without stripping or oiling. Try it both ways.

I'd like to reiterate my position that there should be both smoking and non smoking bars, and people should choose what type of air they breathe if it's a problem. That said, I am sorry to hear that these patrons have lost their loyalty to "X." I hate to say it, but were they out for a drink, or to smoke? Ultimately both, but they're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. It's not the woman with the kid's doing, but these smokers are letting the law affect the innocent people in the matter. Where are these people going now? It seems pretty petty to me, that they can't take ten steps outside to keep their favorite bar and single mother in business.
