    Alternate Pastas

My ex bought corn pasta once and it was so disgusting I thought I would die. On the other hand, I treated it like regular pasta. Shouldn't have done that.

    Hot food cold

there's something else about it alright: when we eat these "hot things cold", we tend to be either drunk or stoned. and everyone knows everything tastes better when you're drunk or stoned. cold fried chicken beats out cold pizza any day, regardless of your state of mind. A couple of additions to Tommy's point. The cold pizza I've had had usually been left out all night after a binge of whatever substance. For me, it was the thankfullness of having something with some powers of absorbtion or nutrition in me belly. Had nothing to do with the taste or texture for me.

    Stuff in my Fridge

I, like Suzanne, am shameless and cheap, and I RARELY if ever throw anything away. I scrape mold, I spoon mold and slime, I heat to kill anything I've missed, and I make sure I eat what I buy. A couple of months ago, I was on a sort of quesadilla kick, and ran out of tortillas. While waiting for them to go on sale, my refried beans and my salsa got a bit of the green stuff. I took off what I could see, and threw them into the freezer. I just bought my tortillas and defrosted the two items, MIXED two items in a pot, heated for a good while, and ate my yummy quesadilla again. Never gotten food poisioning ever, and I really push it with "spoiled" food.

    Cider

I love Woodchuck. Green, yellow, and red. They can also be a very good value at 'thrifty' beverage places. Sorry to say, yvonne, I don't like Magner's at all. There's something in it that makes me wince.
  11. Nutella is like giandua. I like to eat mine with a fork.
  12. Killer stuff. There are a number of lavender-based sorbetti and gelati in northern Italy. Maybe better is lavender creme brulee. I have recipes for both from the ristorante Flipot in Italy. Will post them when I get back. I make a lot of ice cream, gelati and sorbetti, and on the domestic side, the all-time favorite (as judged by my eaters) is banana rum raisin, the key being to boil the raisins in the rum to plump and soften them and fill them with the concentrated rum flavor, and also to cook the alcohol out (microwave works great, by the way). The raisins, after being thus softened first, take on a nice light crunch when frozen in the ice cream. Pinch of cinnamon, pinch of nutmeg, vanilla if you like, and you have a tropical delight. Can we get a recipe or two? I'd be much obliged.
  13. That is so foul, I could die.
  14. I kept reading Nutzilla! Mmmm nutella!
  15. nightscotsman, I immediately thought of your ice creams when I read the title to this thread. But I still haven't tried them.

    Joler in NYC

Yes, joler, a very nice read. I'm afraid you write better than I.
  17. I made it dear! One of my favorite meals at home. I usually don't add the pine nuts, but had some leftover feta and wanted to use it. I had NO leftover tomatoes or olives, so added the pine nuts. THEN I found leftovers of the EVOO, onions, garlic, basil, sun dried tomatoes, calamata olives, feta, and parmesan on pasta, and put them together. I always think toasted pine nuts taste bacony. Mmmmm bacony nuts!
  18. You do exactly what you like. For as long as you like.
  19. Well, glad to see you're not wasting time with that anymore.
  20. What a cool name!
  21. But you continue to watch her show. The point of that would be...? Are we debating semantics?
  22. Beans, you have missed about every point I have made. Writing a lot doesn't always mean a lot. If my opinion meant zip to you, you'd have dropped this long ago. Why haven't I dropped it? Because I do hate gross, sweeping generalizations, and I speak up against people who make them. Always have, always will. I only stop when I figure the person AIN'T gonna get it, and I'm getting to that point. But not yet. And don't get personal here. It doesn't gel.

    Recipe Experimenting

    Method to her madness.
  24. I am drinking water. Soon I shall be eating pasta with EVOO, onions, garlic, basil, pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes, calamata olives, feta, and parmesan.
