  1. I bought this induction range a few months ago for my brand new home...not only is it beautiful but it is a dream to cook with. Café™ 30" Smart Slide-In, Front-Control, Induction and Convection Range with Warming Drawer - CHS900P4MW2 - Cafe Appliances
  2. Where is the 'hoirrified' emoji?
  3. My friend and I who are also 'ladies who lunch' (and often breakfast together) went to our nearby cafe yesterday. Surprisingly, their wonderful salad bar is finally open again after nearly a year and they told us they've opened up their Sunday buffet once again. Our governor has lifted nearly all restrictions. I sincerely hope this is going to end well.
  4. I was in need of a smaller saute pan than my 3-qt. All-Clad stainless and I came across this one by Viking. It arrived via UPS this morning and I'm thrilled with it. The pans mentioned in the earliler threads from 2009 mentioned 7-ply/ This one is 3 ply but is at least as heavy as my similar AC pans. They also offer a 'professional' line that's 5-ply. Macy's had this on sale and with their code I paid only >$129 for it. I love the handle! I don't love AC handles.
  5. Actually, now that I have measured my space, I will have to refuse the delivery (if I can manage to catch the UPS guy when he drops it off. I have a m/w mounted inside a cabinet opening and the Blumlein would need to fit underneath that but there's not quite enough height for it. I'm no interested in the smaller model because I need all the interior height for my loaves. Someday a model will come along that's just right for my needs.
  6. AACCK! After looking at this oven on Amazon as well as the ANOVA Oven, I put the FBSO in my cart and moved along. Later I went back to Amazon and ordered another item from my cart. Well I accidentally ordered the FBSO! I didn't discover my mistake until this morning when I checked on my order and saw that I have a new oven coming my way. I was unable to cancel it. I can, of course, reject the shipment when it arrives but I've been intrigued for a long time with the idea of baking my breads with steam; the only thing holding me back was the toast factor. So I will be spending some time experimenting with this big guy.
  7. When my DH and I were renovating our home in Portland we called in a rep from Home Depot to give us a bid on re-carpeting our daylight basement. When he looked over the project he proceeded to list all the things they would NOT be able to do. We called in another source and it was done to perfection.
  8. @heidh, Brushed after baking with a mix of butter, garlic powder, parm and oregano. A simple treat for after-game. We sometimes do dessert afterward but some of us are concerned about calories.
  9. Today I’m making a CopyKat recipe for Olive Garden Breadsticks for the first time. ‘I’ll rest the dough in the fridge overnight and bake in the morning for my Canasta-playing friends.
  10. Thanks! No meat in it, just butter, brown sugar and S&P.
  11. I shall never agin set aside half a cooked acorn squash to cool after dinner and then forget to refrigerate it overnight. Actually, I’m pretty sure I will do it agin with something else in the future. Now, will I die if I eat the squash?

    Dinner 2021

Oh my! There's hardly anything I enjoy more than a good pasty. Butte has really good ones and those in the U.P. are too. We have a shop here in Hamilton that makes great pasties. I buy a half dozen at a time and freeze them. Wonderful!

Are you from Butte??? I lived there in the early 60's.
  14. I did the same a couple of months ago. It was a revelation! After fifteen years in the same house I was stunned at how many items I hadn't used or even seen in all that time.
  15. I love my All Clad (except for the handles) which. like Weino, I've owned for many years. The Demeyre's disk bottom is a turn-off for me.
  16. Brush the finished loaf with melted butter.
  17. Has there been any consensus as to whether the Anova Oven can replace a toaster? I am on the fence about ordering one but I do want to be able to toast in it.
  18. Reminds me of what the cannibal said while eating a clown, "This tastes funny!"
  19. I just think the beets were too old. The cooking liquid when I steamed them, was brownish rather than red. And they had a stronger smell than usual.
  20. Jo, I was excited to make this soup. Unfortunately my beets had gone around the block a few too many times so it turned out less than great. I’ll give another go when I have some nice, fresh beets.
  21. Did you peel the beets first?

I also really, really love beets prepared in any fashion. Most recently I made Harvard beets...maybe my favorite preparation. I pressure cooked them in the IP. Kind of old school but a winner my Mom used to make.
  23. Yes, I like lots of raisins.
  24. Lately I've been making Sourdough Cinnamon Raisin Bread from this recipe. I mix in my bread machine and I don't do the rolling out and spreading the filling. I just add some of the sugar, the cinnamon and lots of raisins into the dough. It turns out perfectly every time and is just delicious. Easy too.
