That’s happened to me at my grocery store when I went to pick up my order. The other cars in those reserved spots were empty! Idiots!

I s I stopped in at a grocery in town yesterday to pick up some items to make hamburgers. At lest half the shoppers wore no masks. My checker had his hanging around his neck. We’ve had a recent surge here in COVID cases which I attribute mostly due to all the out-of-state people coming here and not isolating. It makes me so angry! My doctor ask that we not come for visits if we’ve been out-of-state within the last two weeks! But we can’t protect ourselves from the these intruders.

Have you noticed a change in King Arthur all purpose flour?

It sounds like you're onto something there. Maybe In their rush they had to use a new what source which was not quite up to snuff. I use the local Wheat Montana Flour for everything so I've not been affected in that way. -
I don’t bake in my CSO either, it’s just not tall enough.

The last time I made these (KAF) English Muffins I forgot to take photos They’re so stinkin’ good that I made another batch today. I didn’t use rings just free-formed them.

Yes. Yes it is.

I happened across a smock apron at World Market (online). At a bargain price I couldn’t resist although I was very skeptical about the ‘one-size-fits-most’ description. I usually find this to be true only if you’re the tiny size of the Vietnamese woman who does my nails. However, I was |completely surprised to find it fits me just fine..(I’m 5’8” (or used to be) and usually wear an XL. I love it! ’Smock. Note: The gray seems to be temporarily out of stock but there are other colors.

I recently made KAF’s recipe for English Muffins and remembered that I’d bought a pastry fork a while back. Turns out it’s ideal for fork-splitting these muffins. The recipe, by the way is wonderful https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F7JXK6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here’s mine:

yes. This happened to me too and I had that changed after losing everything in my extra fridge. However, my electrician must put the garage outlets on GFI due to code. Aside, he told me Many people have that changed later after inspection is approved.

As As soon as things develop I will start taking photos. Of course the finish date keeps getting pushed back. I'm told it's due to supplier delays and to the sub-contractors being extra busy these days. Nothing I can do about all that.

Ouch. A pound of SAF here is $3.99. Plenty available.

I've ordered all the new appliances: a GE Café French door fridge, Café induction range, Café m/w, Zephyr hood and a Bosch d/w. I was quite surprised when the salesperson told me almost all the new d/w's have built-in water softeners. My own d/w is 14 years old and doesn't have that, I had no idea. Some research also told me that gas ranges increase the indoor air pollution, I don't know how much or how important that is but it reinforced my decision to go with induction...a big plus is how easy it is to keep the surface clean. I've met with the cabinetmaker and all that is underway. I've met with the electrician and all the wiring is done. The drywall is going in. I met yesterday with the tile people and my choices for the bathrooms, entry and kitchen backsplash are done. Whew! So many hard decisions. Next I meet with the flooring/countertop people and then the plumber.

I have the smaller one that I use all the time for mixing dry ingredients for all kinds of bread-making. I wouldn't part with it.

Nice. I'm pretty sure I see one of these ovens in my future kitchen.

Mine is being crafted as we speak. It will be very, very large and will house everything from canned goods to small appliances. It will take up an entire 12 foot wall of my new kitchen and will be 32" deep with a cut-out in the center for the fridge. Shelves will go to the ceiling, those below the waist will all be pull-outs. The 6-foot island will hold most of my cookware on pull=out helves.

I find if you don’t push on the loaf and just let the knives do the work it’s easy. l’ve been using mine for years.

I use my Cuisinart Electric Knife all the time for my smallish loaves, For the big loaves I use a 12” serrated bread knife. Both work perfectly.

That’s just fabulous! What great friends.

KAF has a recipe for Sourdough English Muffins that I am planning to make this weekend. A friend has made them and swears by them. I'm working up my sourdough starter to get ready.

I've never been a fan of linen, I don't really like the coarse, wrinkly look. I had initially thought I'd just sew up a pinafore based on the Rough Linen design. However, after looking at it closely I realized it was so well made that I'd never be able to replicate it such a way as to be totally satisfied.
-
I finally started wearing my Rough Linen pinafore apron this week...It’s been hanging on the back of a chair all this time. i love it! Now I’m going to wear it all the time...not having a strap across the back of my neck is a must, I just ordered a second one in white.

I’ve been buying Papa Murphy;s take ‘n bake pizzas for years. Sometimes I buy two and cache one in my freezer {they hold surprisingly well). If I could find a decent frozen brand I’d be happy to save a trip all the way into town to get to PM’s.

Having recently finished two of Bourdain's books, I found this article somewhat helpful in understanding the man a bit better.

When I got my Cusinart many years ago I went nuts and bought up all the optional blades I could find (the main ones and another large set I bought off ebay. I think I've only used about three of them in all this time. I actually only use the FP very rarely. It's heavy and sits in a lower cabinet shelf which makes it hard tp get out. Once I dropped while getting it out and it landed on my tile floor with a broken spindle. That's another ugly story.

I disliked using a hand grater so much that I bought a Salad Shooter. (Arthritic joints in my hands.) Now I grate cheese all the time. The parts go in the d/w so it’s no fuss.
