  1. I haven't had much experience with Globals except the one I sharpened for a friend when she came up to visit. It was full of chips but a short stint on a coarse stone to grind them out and then refining on finer stones did the trick. I'm no Dave Martel but the knife left my kitchen sharper than it arrived

    Breakfast! 2015

Stove top "baked" eggs this morning with potatoes, Rotel and Monetary Jack
  3. We always seem to have a play to go to on Derby Day. Needed to get my mint julep on 2 tbs of fresh mint simple syrup 3 oz of Berheim wheated bourbon Goes down way too easy Next time I needed to cut back on the simple syrup. And the ice [emoji5]️
  4. Dr Frankenstein I presume
  5. Ouch! What a reply gfron1. Glad they did take care of it, but still....
  6. I guess I'd go stirred not shaken until healed
  7. TD you got it. Keeps us posted on your project.
  8. I boned out a few lamb thighs and cut them up into large chunks to stock the freezer. Used one tonight to make a shepherds pie
  9. Less smokey but sweeter in my opinion I make my own jarred chipotle with carrots and onions with them
  10. Nice job on the chicken Harry
  11. I watches the episode with Massimo Bottura last night. Very entertaining. I'm hooked
  12. A few more pics of my cold smoke generator And a stainless cocktail shaker I drilled out to use but the can just keeps on working
  13. Will have to look for it in Sarasota, the closest Sur la Table next time I'm there
  14. Are they the larger tan tipico or the little red morita?
  15. I don't have toxin phobias but thought it should be mentioned in the tread. That should be okay. Hell we use to play with mercury in grade school. Rolled the stuff in my hands many times. It was cool at the time. Now they will evacuate a square mile [emoji102] if any mercury is spilled.
  16. TD, sure you know but make sure to use a soldering iron which has not been used to solder with lead or other toxic solder I'm in cont ed class this weekend but will get a few more pics up soon. Pretty simple system to make. My smoker is an old Masterbuilt 30 electric smoker with the chip feeder removed to facilitate the cold smoker
  17. Here are a couple of pics
  18. Don't have the pics on my pad but I'm sure I've posted pics here before I tricked my coconut milk can out with a fitting at the bottom to attach an air hose with an in line valve connected to an aquarium air pump. It really pumps out the smoke and is adjustable
  19. On the positive side, that chip in the heel is a thumb saver. Most of my wounds are from the sharp pointy heel
  20. I agree. A very sensible approach
  21. That's interesting blue_dolphin. From tasting our Florida strawberries I think making vodka with them is the way to go. Both tasteless
  22. Today's purchases Now off to do some blind tastings with my wife to see how they compare. I did small samplings when I got them home. The Doorly's XO is a steal for the price
  23. I'll have to look at my booklet but he had about 6 bottles on his table but I only tried the one he was pouring, I'll get back on which one it was. I quickly moved on to better things. My goal was to find producers of unadulterated rums. Most claim theirs has nothing added but that's obviously not true. We did find some that were. Richard Seale and Bailey Pryor are both producing the real deal in Barbados http://www.realmccoyspirits.com/thestory#today https://rumdiariesblog.wordpress.com/2014/06/01/r-l-seales-10-year-old-rum/
  24. Tasted his rum at the Miami rum trade show this weekend. He still has his work cut out for him. In theory it sounds good but he's not there yet
