I was at Costco today and saw this. Seeing as they were minis and came in various flavours, I bought one. For the price, I don't expect them to be top-notch ones, but at least I'll get an idea of what they are like. Hopefully, I'll like them better than my recent try for the first time in my life pop-tarts. Nah, nothing could possibly be as bad as those pop-tarts.
  4. Smart move.
  5. John came home the other day with 2 packages of pop tarts, s'mores and strawberry with icing. Tried a s'mores and couldn't finish it. Neither one of us could. The rest went in the garbage. When we go to a regular grocery store, we usually buy groceries for the food bank. The strawberry ones will be part of the next lot. Turns out I haven't missed a thing.

I see Costco has started carrying it. A question that has often baffled me is why would anyone buy it 2 months before Christmas? Do you freeze it? If so, why not wait until a day or two before Christmas so it's reasonably fresh? Assuming it hasn't sat on a store shelf for weeks, that is.
  7. It's a good thing if you don't like canned gravy.

I use a serated vegetable peeler.
  12. I have the same model as @TdeV, the Zojirushi BB-PAC20. I have had it for probably 10 or so years. I use it a fair bit, mostly to mix and knead the dough which, when the dough cycle is complete, i will bake in a regular oven. If i want bread for stuffing say a chicken, i'll bake the loaf in the machine. That said, i will also make bread by hand. It depends on the mood I'm in. My first bread machine was a Panasonic which I bought in 1982. It was one of the first mass produced bread machines for home bread making. That one could only make 1 pound loaves but I loved that machine. @TdeV Did you ever try making the sourdough?
  13. Eh?
  14. The butter tarts are missing!
  15. That looks to be a good size. What are the inner dimensions?
  16. I have a stone. Everything I've read suggests steel is better.
  17. Thanks. If I just do a search on McMaster-Carr I can access the site.
  18. I don't know if you have a Costco membership, but I have seen it there. Natural food stores might carry it as well. The main grocery stores may sell it, but I've never looked for it there (or anywhere).
  19. How big is your little steel and where did you get it?
  20. Mine is sandblasted steel whatever that means, and there are warnings in the instructions to be beware of rust if it gets wet and what to do if it does. It also needs to be seasoned which I will do tonight. I do use the steam function on the Anova and rarely use the big oven so I will do as you do, and keep it in there. Thank you.
  21. @JeffGC. Those are beauties! Did you use the Jason Yeh recipe?
  22. I got my baking steel today and I have a question. Do you leave it in the oven at all times or do you only put it in the oven when you need it? That thing weighs a ton.
