  1. Have you looked at Bulk Barn (assuming you have them there)?
  2. Not by a long shot.
  3. Thanks! I've copied the recipe for a future bake.
  4. What makes RG beans so great?
  5. I don't like them. I go into Walmart a couple of times a year, in my case it's a Supercentre. They started with just a few self check-outs which wasn't too bad. Now it's the other way around - only a few cashiers and a LOT of self-check outs. If that isn't bad enough, there is no entrance to the self-check-out. You have to walk past the self check-outs and the cashiers, and then turn and came back the way you came to gain entry. I no longer go there.
  6. Sure. Come on over! Or do you need a formal invitation?
  7. Ah, a man after my own heart!
  8. Neither one of us cares for turkey. We always have capon.
  9. I'm still be standing there, gawking.
  10. Anyone notice that hotdogs buns have gotten shorter?
  11. Looking forward to reading about your travels (and food).
  12. I don't use the seal button? Sorry for the dumb question. I've only used it once and that was to seal chicken thighs in a marinade.
  13. That sounds soooo good!
  14. Someone wanted to be helpful so the baugette i wanted for tomorrow was purchased today. @rotutsso my goal was to vacuum seal it in my new spiffy chamber vacuum sealer and stick it in the freezer until tomorrow. I am following @Kerry Beal's suggestion and they are in the freezer now. Since said person bought two baugettes, I want to seal the second. Try as i might, i can't find anything to tell me what buttons to push. Kerry, can you please advise?
  15. I tried vacuum sealing a baguette last night. It did not go well. Can someone please tell me how to do this without totally squishing the bread?
  16. Westjet is baaad.

    Panettone

I was at Costco today and saw this. Seeing as they were minis and came in various flavours, I bought one. For the price, I don't expect them to be top-notch ones, but at least I'll get an idea of what they are like. Hopefully, I'll like them better than my recent try for the first time in my life pop-tarts. Nah, nothing could possibly be as bad as those pop-tarts.
  19. Smart move.
  20. John came home the other day with 2 packages of pop tarts, s'mores and strawberry with icing. Tried a s'mores and couldn't finish it. Neither one of us could. The rest went in the garbage. When we go to a regular grocery store, we usually buy groceries for the food bank. The strawberry ones will be part of the next lot. Turns out I haven't missed a thing.

I see Costco has started carrying it. A question that has often baffled me is why would anyone buy it 2 months before Christmas? Do you freeze it? If so, why not wait until a day or two before Christmas so it's reasonably fresh? Assuming it hasn't sat on a store shelf for weeks, that is.
  22. It's a good thing if you don't like canned gravy.
  23. Welcome to eGullet. You're going to like it here!
  24. It doesn't use canned gravy.
