  1. When I came back today from running some errands, I found a message on my answering machine to say I had a delivery. The only thing I could think of was that some tax stuff had been dropped off for people I do tax returns for. Instead, it turned out to be a delivery of 3 meal kits that I had (totally inadvertently) signed up for. To say I was surprised is an understatement. This is a company called Goodfood. The kits are pictured below. I'll report separately on how they are.
  2. Thanks, Shelby. I gave some of my last batch to my polite sister who said "your yogurt is a little tangier than I am used to" and didn't ask for any more. I'll shorten the time when I next make it and see how that works out. I was under what seems to be the mistaken impression that the longer you let it incubate, the thicker it got.
  3. How thick was it compared to an 8 hour incubation?
  4. I wrote to Costco, but haven't heard back yet. Won't open the mango until I do. I did note that Costco is providing Hep A vaccines to people who brought the product.
  5. Andie, thank you for posting this. I was just at Costco yesterday and bought a mix of frozen berries, so I checked the freezer. It turned out not to be the brand I bought as I have Kirkland. However, I also bought frozen mango under the Nature Touch brand name. I haven't eaten either yet and I will call Costco tomorrow about the mango just to be on the safe side.
  6. Yup. I recently bought one of their big boxes of Tetley tea and used my trusty Foodsaver to vacuum pack them into about 75 tea bags per food saver bag.

Shelby, I agree with Anna N. More info on the salad, please.
  8. We got an e-mail from them the other day advising us that they are now offering on-line courses. For a monthly membership of $19.95 you can access their on-line cooking school without instructor access. For a monthly fee of $39.95 you get access to their on-line cooking school plus instructors.

    Chicken tacos.
  10. Most nights I bake 4 cookies. (Please don't laugh.) This is the one sweet thing we allow ourselves during the day as we attempt to limit our calorie intake. The last few nights the cookie on the front left side refuses to brown. All starts well, I turn the pan during the baking cycle and whatever cookie is in that spot is a pale imitation of the other ones. Anyone else have that problem? I has always worked perfectly until recently. Baked cookies have been chocolate chip, ginger and corn. My oven is almost three years old and is the 800 one.

Okanagancook, can you elaborate on your french fry method?

A red curry dish based on a recipe from Bon Appetit. Yam noodles on the bottom, a vegetable curry on top and fish on top of that which was cooked in the curry.
  13. Along the same lines, when I first joined Costco, I bought a lot of stuff in their super duper sizes because I could get twice as much for the same money I would spend at my local store. Vegetables rotted, dry goods got stale and had to be turfed, and we could not eat refrigerated items by their best before date. Baked goods languished in the freezer collecting freezer burn. I finally realized that buying in bulk was not necessarily a money saver. I still shop at Costco but am much more selective about the bulk items I buy.
  14. Well now, that looks like good eats. I love anything corn.
  15. I don't know much about any of their products and about some, I know nothing, dehydrated butter being a case in point. That is why I started this post, to see what people know about their products.
  16. I came across this site the other day: www.hoosierhillfarm.com They have a bunch of intriguing products that I don't normally see stocked in the grocery stores. Dehydrated butter, for one. Has anyone used their products? Are they any good? Amazon users for the most part seem to like them.
  17. We'll try a bottle, thanks. Was that the roasted garlic Sriracha bbq sauce you tried? Last time I was there we brought back 4 jars and there is about 1/2 " left in the last bottle. We love that stuff and will be loading up on it for sure.
  18. I We are planning a run to TJ's in Syracuse and I am making up my list of what to get. Rotuts, could you elaborate a bit on this? We are suckers for the Roasted Garlic and Sriracha sauce and will be bringing a bunch of that back but this looked interesting too. What is the main ingredient list? How spicy is it? My husband eats raw whole Thai chilis so his tolerance for heat is pretty high. Me not so much. I try to stick to buying stuff that I have not seen here so if this is something truly different I would buy it. Thank you.
  19. I can't remember where I read this, but I read that the 'pressure' part of the Puck oven was so low as to be almost not there. Wherever it was that I read this review, people also mentioned that Mr. Puck should have been ashamed of himself for putting his name on the thing.

Thank you. I'm going to try this next time I buy ribs. I assume the tablespoon you are using is an Australian tablespoon which for us Canadians would equal 4 teaspoons?

Thank you for a very informative post. Is it advisable to 'de-gas' all fish using this method before consumption?
  22. So I made my two mini lemon bundt cakes using the whole egg. Thanks everyone for responding to my question. Picture attached - they were tasty little things, although my glazing skills leave a lot to be desired.

If I may ask, what are the quantities of each ingredient you use for your ribs?
  24. As mentioned, I looked through a bunch of threads and posts on egullet and did not see your post or else I missed it. I decided to just go with using the whole egg as suggested by the others and see what happens.
