What is this phenomenon you speak of?
-
Yeah because no one wants to piss off you NYC people! 😬

Yep you can't find buttermilk or dried pasta around here either. Haven't looked for cream cheese....

Smallish order this week. My box was delayed but, again, everything was fine. This is two weeks in a row that they haven't offered limes @JoNorvelleWalker I feel your pain.

Nice looking meals all. @DuvelI've been wanting lasagna but have been too lazy to make it. Yours looks incredible. The little bowl you asked me about is hand thrown pottery made by an artist in Colorado. I LOVE pottery like this and am always on the look-out for it--especially wine glasses (glasses isn't the right word...goblets??). They are super hard to find (the goblets)...I'm told because they are super hard to make. Anyway here is a picture of more. Somewhere around here I have a tall mug/stein that goes with this set. My mom found them all at a show in Colorado. @heidihMy lemons have been coming from Misfits lately...I have no idea what kind they are...they are lemon shaped and yellow and that's the extent of my knowledge 🤣 @Paul BacinoAntelope! I think that is one meat that I've never had...which is kind of weird having lived in Colorado. Looks really good. I haven't felt like doing much lately--not sick...just the blahs. This time change isn't helping, either. I need to get out and be in the sun a bit. That always helps. Or...drink more wine. That helps too lol. So much needs to be done around the house and I just sit and look at it 🙃 On to the food: Last weekend the daughter of our friends that passed away had a get-together to celebrate what would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. We got there right when it started and didn't stay long at all....but I wanted to contribute and she asked for desserts. Sooooo, I made the always- famous- for -pot- lucks chocolate sheet cake lol. When I got the pecans out to chop them up I found they were rancid. GRRRRRRR. So, I subbed chopped peanuts. It must have been ok because my pan came back empty. Didn't feel like cooking so I got some previously frozen pork enchilada filling and some sauce from the freezer. Stuffed peppers along side--and RG beans. Cold days called for oyster/fish soup The last two Philly cheese steaks. Sigh they are so good. I'm sad they are gone. Broccoli salad and tots to go with Venison meatloaf, breaded tomatoes, beans, taters and gravy Ribs and some smoked brisket from the freezer again. Chicken Alfredo, spinach and roasted romanesco And last night Ronnie wanted fried chicken. I didn't get around to SVing it first, but I was told it was my best fried chicken ever. Since we had just had mashed potatoes I made a pasta salad instead. And @Jaymesalways excellent squash

Muffuletta, oysters, tater tots and onions rings for Fat Tuesday I used the method from Serious Eats for the onion rings--you cut the rings and then freeze them. Worked really well. Roasted chicken, potatoes and sprouts Last night Ronnie battled the wind and did steaks on the grill. I stayed in and made baked potatoes and broccoli --and Cheese Whiz!!

🤣 I will have to try your method, though. I can see the benefit. Especially the carrots. I'm not a big raw carrot fan.

@DejahNo, those shishitos are from Misfits Market that I order from online. Sometimes they don't have them..... Last summer was the first time we ever grew them in the garden and that was only because Ronnie's daughter brought us a whole bunch of plants from the place that she works because the planting season was over. They did surprisingly well. That's the first time I've ever seen the plants around here so I'm hoping I can find more for this summer.

Homemade Philly steak sandwiches The usual shishitos and fries and a pasta salad that was just ok....it was better after a night in the fridge, but it still needed something Last night Hot wings, romanesco and Mac and cheese

My muffulettas are in the fridge. I also ordered a dessert so we will see. I think oysters as an appetizer. Ronnie will probably want fries.....but if I'm up to it I might to some onion rings too or something else kind of fun. I hope everyone stays safe in NO and elsewhere --let's not have a Covid uprise please.

Try this one......I hope it works

Sure! Batter is a beer batter. Equal parts of flour and cornstarch--I usually do 1\2 a cup each Season--I like to use Lawry's salt, but plain salt is great or you could do something like a Cajun seasoning Drizzle beer in --I like a lighter beer ...we usually have Bud Light around so that's my normal. Pour the beer in a little at a time until you can drag a fork through and it leaves a faint trail on the surface. Edited to say--I bet the chicken is good the next day...but I wouldn't know because we ate it all 😄

Dammit you enablers

Again, not fancy like everyone else, but I did a banana strawberry sorbet yesterday. Pretty healthy and it's good!

@Paul Bacino WOW on the pig. Just wow. And, also, on the eggplant stir fry. I love eggplant. And, I drink the heck out of that kind of sparkling water. @Ann_TI'm going straight to your blog to find your sugar pie recipe. I want. @Kim ShookGlad to see I'm not the only heathen that eats garlic bread with pasta 😬 I got some boneless chicken thighs in my Misfits order so I could make @Kim Shook's and Jessica's Chicken Karaage. She's right. It's really good. I didn't have the potato starch that I thought I had, so I used corn starch. I think it worked just fine. Miso Aioli to dip the chicken in Chicken and a few of the egg rolls I made and froze a while back Drunken noodles Pizza night--sausage, jalapeño, black olive and mushroom It's been pretty cold here for a stretch of days so I did a big pot of vegetable soup. Need to do that more often. Makes good lunches. Big sandwiches to go with. Fried catfish and a few shrimp And last night was goose and noodles from the last goose that Ronnie got.
