Ronnie braved the cold yesterday morning and went deer hunting. Got us a couple of does (it's doe only season). We should be set now on meat for the coming year . I think tomorrow or Thursday we will butcher them. It's so cold they can hang in the garage with absolutely no problems. So, tenderloins for dinner last night And boy were they tender. I made another Caesar salad, some sautéed spinach and some pasta to go with. And wine. Lots of wine.

It's super easy. I've been ordering a variety of mushrooms, but also this would be good with just plain old white ones. Chop up the mushrooms. Dice up some garlic. Chop up some parsley if you have it. Splash of olive oil in a skillet. Add mushrooms and cook down a bit. Add garlic. Continue cooking until mushrooms are done. Dump in a bowl. Add parsley. Couple splashes of red wine vinegar and salt and pepper. Good stuff.

I was reading old New Year's thread here the other day and I think it was @Toliver ( )who mentioned that he has corned beef for either NYE or NYD and I thought WOW what a good idea, so I took one out of the freezer for yesterday's dinner. Mushroom salad Twice baked potatoes (ordered online--yes ordered lol. Ronnie loves twice bakers...I really don't like making them. I'm weird.) Corned beef and cabbage edited Yes, It was @Toliver https://forums.egullet.org/topic/33665-new-years-eve-what-are-you-eating-or-serving/?do=findComment&comment=2001025

My fridge is so packed with stuff. Beginning of December we were thinking we would have Ronnie's kids and grandkids over so I bought (ordered) some things....with not much in mind, but just to have. Then we decided against that and somehow I just kept ordering online lol. We've had some wonderful meals and are still having, but like you, I have bits of different cheeses that need to be dealt with. And tons of crackers that even before needed to be used.
-
Excellent ideas. I need to do this soon. Like tomorrow. Especially the cheese idea and the crackers.

Your meals look so good and I'm glad your husband is better!

He was just wonderful. Such a great sense of humor. Loved hearing stories about his family and growing up.

@Norm MatthewsYour deviled eggs are always so pretty. I, too, decided not to do the traditional BEPs with ham--but I CERTAINLY was NOT going to skip them. Thank you Rancho Gordo for the SUPER LUCKY peas Texas Caviar for us while watching bowl games. Threw some chicken in the sous vide and then fried it up for dinner Brussels sprouts to round out the luck factor Happy New Year everyone. Let's have a really great 2022!!!!

@Kim Shook Everything looks delicious. I want that pancit. @Annie_HI also want your lobster rolls. I must put that on my list to either make or mail order in. Still having a health battle. Got sick again last Tuesday, so lost all appetite, but bounced back quicker this time and got back in the kitchen. Ate the rest of the Caesar salad and the cioppino. I swear I could eat gallons of this cioppino Just plain ole ham and pepperoni pizza but I inhaled it like there was no tomorrow lol New Year's Eve dinner\ our 22nd wedding anniversary Cheese and meat to snack on early starting top left--my favorite Harbison, spiced goat cheese from Zingerman's (hated it), Brebis D'Ossau from Murray's (I think)--this was delicious sheep's milk cheese, and then that truffle cheese from Imperfect Foods that we like a lot. Shrimp and Wellfleet oysters Potato soup done in the IP--super good and easy Ordered tiramisu for dessert
