    Dinner 2023

Fried chicken, potatoes, squash and broccoli for Sunday dinner Sourdough and beef stew on a very cold evening Roasted chicken and potatoes with stewed tomatoes Pepperoni, spinach and mushroom calzones
  5. These are my most hoarded right now. Wild artichokes that I get from Zingerman's. They are currently $20 a jar. I can't tell you how many times I've taken them out of the cabinet and then put them back in, unopened.
  6. Agreed! I'm watching it again right now. The end is just the best.
  7. I just watched this. It's outstanding. Best movie I've seen in a long time. It's funny, smart and very dark. I laughed out loud several times. Edited to say it's very VERY dark.
  8. The good thing is you don't have to order every week....just don't fill up your cart and it automatically skips you.
  9. I'm not sure yet...need to peruse. Last year was hard--leg, then leg again, then poison ivy...it just wasn't my year. And apart from that the tomato year was terrible--which truly was a blessing because I was not up to my usual preserving. I know we want tomatoes, green beans, corn... Need to sit down and figure it out. I'm super late this year.
  10. I need to order seeds.
  11. I've kept my pickled jalapeños (not canned) in the fridge for at least a year with no problems at all. I bring the brine to a boil and pour the hot brine over the sliced peppers in the jar. Put the lid on, put them in the fridge and don't eat them for at least a week. My jalapeños might be a tiny bit less "soft" than when I water bath them, but not so much as you'd care IMO.
  12. That's great! I wish I could do that. That's my reason for not cancelling. I can't find them around here for sure.
  13. Regarding Misfits: I received this email a few days ago: -------------------------------- I founded Misfits Market in 2018 with the goal of making quality food more affordable and accessible for everyone, regardless of where they live. Our commitment to that mission remains the same today, even in these volatile times. However, we now need to make changes to your Misfits Market experience to continue building a sustainable business for the future. Effective for all orders with a shopping window ending on or after Monday, January 30th, your new order minimum will be $59. If you have $59 worth of items in your cart when your shopping window closes, we will ship your order. Additionally, your new shipping fee will be $9.99. Why the changes? In the past few years, it’s become trickier for us to deliver to customers in areas like yours. Economic trends continue to affect everything from the price of food to shipping costs. Still, my team and I are dedicated to providing more value with every order. These changes will help us use fewer resources to get high-quality groceries to you. We’ll also continue to find ways to improve your experience and pass on savings wherever possible. Plus, we’re making it easier than ever to shop our Cold Pack items. You can now build a Cold Pack order totaling less than $30 for a flat $3.99 fee, plus your regular shipping fee. Add only the items you need each week (think organic milk and butter, a dozen free-range eggs); if you go over $30 in Cold Pack items, you won’t be charged a Cold Pack fee. As usual, you’ll continue to save up to 40% on quality groceries delivered to your door, earn points on grocery purchases through our Misfits Perks loyalty program, and support food producers who rely on Misfits Market to get a fair return on their hard work. - Abhi Ramesh Misfits Market Founder & CEO ---------------------------------- For us, this is still ok. I went back through my orders and I very rarely spend less than $60 a week. I don't have the other options that people in the bigger cities do and I so much appreciate being able to get things delivered by them. I've had a really good experience with them. Hardly any problems with quality etc.
  14. This is borderline abusive.
  15. Stop it. You're making my fridge jealous.
  16. I wondered the same thing. Those potatoes. I stared at them for longer than I care to admit.

@rotutsWhat is that you're drinking? I found a new to us brand of boudin at Wal-Mart so had to try it. It's ok. I liked it. Needs more spice...not as good as my usual boudin purchases. Ronnie thought it could be more meaty. I liked the balance between rice and meat. Made a fruit salad and breakfast to go with. Goose and duck season has been a bit sparse which is odd considering how cold it's been. Maybe they just didn't come down due to the draught conditions we had earlier in the season. Anyway Ronnie got a goose a few days ago so I roasted it. Mushroom salad and @Mmmpompsroasted potatoes on the side Canadian bacon and pepperoni for pizza night Yesterday I finally got all of Christmas packed away downstairs so needed something easy. I thawed out some chili and made spaghetti red.
  21. Wow your husband is a trooper! I'm so glad he's feeling like eating!
  22. Green jello UGH. Only matched by yellow jello. Come on at least do red or orange!
  23. Oh gosh I feel his pain. I hope he heals quickly. I know I didn't feel much like eating for a while after my surgeries. That little pasta will be great. Not that you asked, but here is a link to a topic on EG about what to make and eat after dental work.
  24. Oh no! So much for my glowing review of Goldbelly lol. Glad you could find something up there in Omaha.
