  1. Nice find, Smithy!!! I hope you loaded up!
  2. Me too. I have some decent shrimp frozen. What sauce did you put on yours, Smithy? It looks like a bit of asparagus was in there too?
  3. I buy yeast from Sam's--big bag. I keep it in the fridge. No problems

I, too, am so glad to see you Rachel. I miss your wonderful posts around here!
  5. Not long winded at all! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for posting.
  6. Hmmmmmm.........trying to decide which is chocolate...... I'm going with the big square one.
  7. Some of those chocolates are works of art, I tell ya. Gorgeous. The plane food looks pretty good. Even the mixed nuts look better--we always get stale pretzels. A total stranger seriously wanted you to pay for her lunch????
  8. It's beautiful!!!!! Ya did good!!!!
  9. I'm in safe travels!!!!
  10. That looks amazing. Do I spy a hushpuppy up there?
  11. I have no advice to offer but I think it's so nice that you're doing this, Rob. I'm sure you're giving this person a memory that he will never forget.
  12. That hot beef sandwich looks good! I always enjoy traveling with you guys
  13. Hi Smithy! Nothing much beats a good chocolate chip cookie. Around here that guy would be in some serious trouble if he was using his cast net to catch sport fish to eat. You did a great job capturing that shot! My husband has used a cast net for years and years to catch bait fish (shad is what we like to use). After getting some in the cast net, they go immediately into an aerated bait tank. Shad are super sensitive and hard to keep alive. We then use the bait fish (shad) to catch the sport fish (such as striped bass etc.). It takes a while to get the hang of throwing it. Hubby is dang good at it. Me...not so much. I try at times with a smaller version of his. It's very hard not to throw myself into the water with the net LOL. The big one is really heavy. Plus, we're throwing it out of the boat, normally, so that doesn't give you much leverage. We also used the cast net a few times to grab some crawdads.....that doesn't work so well and it's super hard to get them untangled from the net. And that's probably much more than you ever wanted to know about cast nets LOL.
  14. Peas are up, spinach is up, collards are up, onions are up. No lettuce or brussels sprouts. Sigh. Was going to plant some more stuff this morning, but we got over an inch of rain last night and it's too muddy.
  15. No, but there is maple syrup drizzled on the bottom of the pan with some cinnamon. Don't tell anyone.....that's my secret ingredient
  16. Everything looks lovely, Kim. I'll take a bite or...piece of each. I'm now craving strawberries. I won the March Madness bracket contest at work (I've played for 20 years lol it's about time) so I made everyone cinnamon rolls.

Kim! Pedestrian??? No way! I get a lot of inspiration from your meals! Looooooong day yesterday. I dug up our septic tank all by myself (don't ask) and today my back is not happy. So, I wanted my favorite for dinner. Spaghetti and venison meatballs over spinach and the first asparagus from the garden.
  18. I'm so sorry to hear this.
  19. Smithy, I just love following your camping adventures. Makes me almost wish we still had our RV. Almost lol. You are a far more tolerant person than I.....although now -a -days since I don't have to work, and I know I can sleep mostly as late or nap when I want to maybe I'd be different. That bass thump would have driven me crazy back in our camping days. I'm sure the look of relief was due to her knowing how loud and late they stay up! Hopefully your generator drowned out most of it. Pig tails!!! Yes! Always reminds me of the Little House on the Prairie books. They roasted the tails. Then Mary and Laura played with the pig bladder that Pa blew up for them like a balloon. That pico looks wonderful. Has me drooling for garden tomatoes. Hopefully only about 4 more months until those. Are you returning home soon? Well, I mean to your home that doesn't have wheels....

I hadn't made this for a long time. My mom mentioned that she was making them for their Easter dinner, so I copied her There was just a smidge left so I didn't save it.....I wish I would have because I would be eating that for breakfast right now.
  21. I made FatGuy's mom's recipe for lemon bars yesterday. I didn't change a thing except I used a lot more lemon zest because I like 'em lemony. They taste really good, but they are.....very short lol. It's almost like I should have doubled the topping??? Or, is this how some lemon bars are? Here is the recipe http://forums.egullet.org/topic/48757-lemon-bars-best-recipe/?p=693698

    Dinner 2015 (Part 2)

Thanks for the Crepes--We have those horrid carpenter bees here at my house, too. They always burrow in the garage door. Creepy little bastards. Your meal sounds lovely You just can't beat a good steak on the grill. Paul--That ham is jumping off the screen! Looks delicious! I read up on a thread here about pork tenderloin and also did a lot of google research in order to make sure I made a tender, juicy meat. The studying paid off. I stuffed the loin with homemade croutons that I smashed into bread crumbs, mushrooms and onions that I had sautéed in butter. I tied it up and put it in the oven at 450 degrees for about 10 mins. Then I reduced the heat to 275 and let it go for a little over an hour until my new Thermopen read 157. I let it rest for 15 mins and it was up to 160. Very moist and tender. Phew. I was nervous about it. Breaded tomatoes and creamed peas with new potatoes rounded out the meal. Oh and deviled eggs. Mr. Tenderloin all trussed up I made lemon bars for dessert. I will post those on the dessert thread......they are very good, but very....flat in stature. I used Fat Guy's recipe. Maybe they are supposed to be like that. I dunno.

Beautiful, Gfweb, simply beautiful Love the tulips. Love the pickley stuff. Love the pork. Are those pickled red onions on some of the deviled eggs?

    Dinner 2015 (Part 2)

Happy Easter, everyone! I don't have to go to a family dinner today ( yay! ) so I'm sitting around thinking about what I wanna make tonight.....pork loin is in a brine. I want a tender one...so I'm googling. Do I want to stuff it or leave it whole? I have some new potatoes, so maybe creamed peas with those. Deviled eggs for sure. Breaded tomatoes sound good--using some that I canned last summer. And, lemon bars. Maybe some lemon bars. Last night I fried fish. I couldn't hold out any longer. I did them in a beer batter like the onion rings I posted earlier. My husband went to the river and caught a nice drum and small catfish so I did those along with some bass that was frozen from last summer.
