OkanaganCook--Pig and pasta--you've hit on two of my favorite things!!! FauxPas-Such a lovely plate of food. So pretty! Liuzhou-You're killing me with all the fresh seafood. I want! I was on my own last night so I made a batch of basil pesto sauce to freeze. I had a smidge left so I tossed it with pasta, cherry tomatoes and artichoke hearts. I also had some eggplant in there.

Nice! Duck fat candle was neat.

OMG Liuzhou, AMAZING looking food. I am envious!!!! The scallops, the shrimps, the fish maw, those lovely buns and the egg. Drooling here. I had to google Lizard's Tail. Looks interesting. Thank you for sharing all of the pictures! My husband made us pork ribs. Nice and tender and smokey.

I am now hungry for the above.

Oh, I'll come over. I find extracting peas very relaxing Especially with a cocktail or two.

I bet your jellies were gorgeous. I was super worried that mine weren't going to set up and I'd have to call them syrup. I'll take the syrup, but I really didn't want to fail on my first jelly attempt.

Thank you!!! Not really any plans. I just wanted to see if I could do it and then plum bushes are loaded this year. I made a comment this morning that I think it would be good mixed with something and slathered on ribs. It's tart/sweet.

Eggs around here got up to almost $4/dozen but now have come back down to $2.50. I'm not sure why. I haven't bought any for quite a few months, though, because I buy them from a wonderful girl down the road. I hope her chickens stay healthy!

I made a recipe from Kim Shook's site. She is my go-to woman for any kind of baking. She never ever fails me. Thank you, Kim!! Cream cheese pound cake. http://www.recipecircus.com/recipes/Kimberlyn/CAKESandPIES/Cream_Cheese_Pound_Cake.html She says the recipe is from someone here named Shaloop. I've never had the pleasure of "meeting" him or her, but the pound cake is spectacular.- 487 replies

I went out on our property and picked some Sand Hill plums yesterday. I decided to try to make jelly for the first time. I was nervous that I'd end up with syrup, but it set up nicely. The trick is to pick a lot of not quite ripe plums along with the ripe ones. The not quite ripe ones contain a lot of pectin. This recipe is super easy--no pectin needed. Plums I couldn't resist taking a picture of this juice. Such a pretty color. This is after straining through a tea towel. All done I'm off to pick more plums. I now am obsessed with jelly making lol.

Ann, you always make me crave pizza. Dejah, your lamb chops look sooooooo good and I'm not even a lamb fan. Gfweb, I LOVE that big burger. Turkey wraps, fries and garden veggies for dinner last night

Looks like a kohlrabi to me.

This is so pretty! I had to google what it was Did you fill it with a custard or a jam?

Went out on my property and picked some Sand Hill plums this morning. Going to try my hand at making some jelly later.

The tomatoes have officially grown taller than my 5' self. They are loaded this year. Crossing fingers that we will have tons of these lovely guys in a few weeks. Silver Queen corn is on! A baby watermelon. I don't think he's too happy. We got over 2" of rain yesterday. Hopefully we're coming into a dryer spell.

These two cute little guys from the garden became eggplant parm for dinner last night. I also made some sausage and spinach manicotti. Neither were photogenic, but they tasted good.
-
The upside is you'll have some for a cooks treat

Picked a few more okra (okras?) yesterday so I needed to eat them I had a batch of duck, goose and andouille sausage gumbo in the freezer so I thawed that out, made some greens and topped it with cornmeal fried okra. Heavenly.

Those muffins look delicious.

I was commenting to my mom (and I think on the gardening thread here) the other day about how beautiful the okra flowers are. I'm glad others share the same view. This is a picture from my garden. Please excuse the Sevin dust lol.

Elaina! They could be twins My Newman has a little more fluff around his cheeks, but boy they look alike! I just finished dinner and am full, but I think I could eat that whole salad you showed. The watermelon radishes are so beautiful. How do they taste? I didn't do radish this year as it seems we really don't eat a lot of them and they get so hot tasting. Those beets are what have me drooling. I really really like the long bowl that you use to serve. Any way you'd tell me where that came from?

Oh thank you for sharing this!!!!! I was authentic and I didn't even know it . When you harvest it early enough for the corn not to be tough, the kernels are not nearly as big as regular corn...but I honestly think field corn is tasty and I don't notice any starchiness. I'm not a huge corn lover, but I can't wait to eat that street corn again. We had a storm yesterday and it knocked out our power for several hours. So, I decided to make something that could be easily made by flashlight and on top of the stove (yay for gas burners). However, the power came back just as I was beginning to cook so all was well. Brats with mounds of caramelized onions and mac and cheese
