  1. I have been seeing adds all over the newspaper for Mexicali Rose with a quote from the former owner Dominic.
  2. Congratulations to another fellow Verona-ite!

    Mocca?

I heard that Mocca Hungarian moved to a new location nearby recently. Does anyone know about this?
  4. There is a Cracker Barrel right off Route 80 West right past Rockaway. 172 Howard Blvd. Mt. Arlington NJ 07856-1308 (973) 398-8404
  5. Drive south on the Turnpike and through Delaware and the first exit in Maryland has a Waffle House. They are creeping up! Waffle House Web Site.
  6. Hey Eric, I might agree about you on being closed on Sunday. You might want to park the car and watch the traffic in and out of Ray's Pizza for example to get a feel for that area. I know there is a ball field a block down but not sure when the games are played and you can't base hours on a field that is used 2-3 months out of the year.
  7. Hello potential Verona neighbor Eric, First of all good luck getting past the Verona board. I don't have any experience or can pull any strings for you. If your name was Tony you might have a bit more luck. Just kidding. I know exactly where you are going to be located as I brought the TSX in for service recently and went over to grab a Taylor ham and cheese on a bagel from your neighbor. I saw the sign in the window. A few questions, comments. 1. Watch the front end of your car pulling out of that lot. 2. Any idea what hours you will keep? 3. Take out adds in the Verona - CG times 4. Parking looks to be a bit tight, will you have a rear entrance? 5. Best of luck to you and if you need some opinions when it comes to recipe concoction time give me a call. -NJ2FLA aka Scott
  8. Yes, congrats John!!! Time for another hot dog run!!
  9. Sorry I was at a wedding at the Primavera Regency in Stirling which was really nice.
  10. Eviction notice was on the door at Dragonel tonight. This place caught my attention after having supper at Bangkok Garden. I thought I remembered seeing it on here.
  11. The only comment I could find by you was this, "The Kosher nosh is terrible. " in the Flanken thread. Would you be kind enough to go into detail about it? I've never been there but was considering making the trek, and am curious. Thanks. ← Here is what I said in a previous post: "I thought the Kosher Nosh stunk. I will tell you why. I went there for lunch with my mom and was greeted by one of the waitresses that just finished smoking a cigarette out front. No she didn't wash up. We ordered some soup and then asked would one pastrami on rye be enough and she said it was huge. Well the soup was alright, nothing special. In the mean time they have a pickle and salad bar that had some green tomato's and pickles and cole slaw and other salad. The cole slaw is like the crap you get at the supermarket and obviously not home made, which is sad for a deli. The pickles were bitter and had not spent nearly enough time in the brew. Then the sandwich came out and it was plenty for 1 person, not two. It was not humongous like she said. I guess I compare to the size of a sandwich at Katz's in NYC or the Rascal House in North Miami Beach. I just thought the Kosher Nosh for all the rave was not worth my return trip. That's my opinion sorry. Should I have got "creative" and ordered a $20 dinner for lunch and got something else? "
  12. Yes, I think it's nasty and I posted a while back perhaps in another forum on here about why.
  13. Highly doubtful at the Kosher Nosh. Yuck.
  14. Addressing a post earlier: In West Orange in the Essex Green shopping center the Buffet is called "The Essex Grand Buffet." His prices are 9.95 for a weeknight dinner and a bit more on Friday and Saturday nights. I am good friends with the owner Kevin. The Majestic Buffet by Willowbrook is owned by Kevin's uncle who used to be partners with him at the EGB (above). His name is David. I am not impressed too much with the food and the decor of the old Chuck - E- Cheese. I think the waitresses look like flight attendants and they are way too pricey for that area. There was a buffet on Rt 10 East Hanover in a strip mall, may have been the one mentioned but that has closed. It is across the street from McDonald's and Bill & Harry. I think half of it is now a Nextel store. I was in the Buffet on 17 in maybe Ramsey and we saw a cockroach run across the floor. So much for that place. That one is also in a strip mall on the south side of Rt 17. Kevin's family also owns a buffet in Mt. Olive in the ITC. It's by the Sam's Club store on the lower level. It's smaller but decent. Re: Pu Pu in I remember going to the one they had on Broad Street in Bloomfield, there was also one on Rt. 46 in Totowa (Little Falls) behind the Pizza Hut. The one in Bloomfield was called Bo Bo Inn and the one in Totowa was called PuPu as well. A smaller buffet in the back with a window to the kitchen and the window would open up and the guy would dump out whatever into the appropriate container on the buffet. Where in Elmwood park as I would definitely go check it out? I think the buffet in Clifton by the Costco is nasty. We weren't impressed maybe it was the clientèle. Greens Court on Rt 46 is alright. I like the peanut butter chicken. I also have a card for 10% which is nice. The buffet on Valley Road and Hamburg Tpk in Wayne is decent. I meet my mother there for lunch sometimes as she works across the street. The name and ownership has changed a few times.
  15. The Afton. I think it was in Florham Park. Contents were up for auction according to the Sunday paper. Memories of the Cinnamon buns..
  16. This past Saturday I had lunch with my parents at Charlie Browns on Hamburg Tpk in Wayne. I had the salad bar for $6.49. There was that fantastic bread with the raisins and nuts in it. The salad bar was nice and had chunks of ham, cheese, roast beef on top, some macaroni type salads and a bunch of different dressings to choose from. I was stuffed! After that we went over to the Market Basket for the first time and we were really impressed. My mother works for a bank in the area and they often get catering from the Market Basket. The prepared food looked fantastic and I was salivating over a chicken casserole. My only complaint is that the labels on the prepared foods in the case didn't have instructions on how long to re-heat them. For that kitchen impaired like myself, that would of been nice. We took home some onion rolls that were square and flat. Almost like an onion pocket. Boy that turkey sandwich I made tonight sure was good. We found that prices were quite fair. The seafood and meats looked fantastic as well as the bakery items and produce. I also noticed they have their own brand of ice cream with some neat looking flavors. If your in the area I suggest you check this place out. There is also a huge Hallmark store in the same plaza. It would be easy to get there from Wayne or 287 or Paramus I suppose.
  17. Well then I am there like a bear.. good thing I have NAV in my car. My brother used to live right around there in Lyndhurst. Best of luck with your business by the way! -NJ2FLA
  18. Hi Spinner (forgot or didn't notice your first name), Are you going to make white chocolate hot chocolate? A coffee house in Hollywood, FL that I go to makes it and serves it in this huge mug and I love it! Thanks! -Scott aka NJ2FLA
  19. Wow did you know they had coupons on their web site? I also love the directions with the pictures. I will have to check this place out.
  20. I think the Anthony Wayne building was up for sale but it wasn't publicized.
  21. I have been to the Anthony Wayne several times. Last time I was there I think the owners kids were running the show. When I say kids I mean 10-20 year olds. I typically order the mixed grill which is a cheeseburger with a large piece of Canadian bacon on top. It also comes with fries and maybe a pickle or two. Then they have metal containers with relish, and sliced onion. I through some onion on top and have a good time. I haven't really tried anything else there. If your in the area try it, but don't drive far to get there as it is nothing spectacular. The inside of the place is interesting to look at however.
  22. Glenn, I noticed you open pretty early some mornings @ 7:00 AM. How do you do with the breakfast crowd?
  23. I know what you are talking about. Places like Bru's Room in Delray Beach. Get them naked, or breaded, with garlic, or grilled, hot, mild.. etc. I haven't found a place near my house (Verona) up here that does that.
  24. Wow sorry to hear about that.. wish him my best.
