  1. OK - so I went there Friday night with two friends of mine. We went to the Coconut Grove location. It's like a large cafeteria. It's also very loud. The price was $24.95 a person and we had soda instead of the wine, which was included in the price. The salad bar is quite large and I don't really eat a lot of salads that are mayo based - so I took the basics and it was fine. We also got some bread delivered to the table. The meat was alright. I tried the sausage and some chirasco? which I liked the best of all the meats I tried. I also had some ribs as well. For desert I tried a pear with a candy type glaze on it. I also tried a crepe in a caramel sauce which was good. I would go back as it's interesting and alright if your starving for meat. Don't bring a vegetarian there. The service was mediocre. The waiter hardly explained anything to us and the chefs cooking the steaks didn't understand nor hear me too well. I know there is a location by Sawgrass Mill's where East Side Mario's used to be. -Scott
  2. I was there when it was Sal & Lisa's. Wow 17 years ago that was when I was a weeeeee little tot.
  3. Zhelder, Why not go to the location on Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne? I would assume that wouldn't be a bad ride from Fair Lawn. -Scott

i hear ya. we need a Chipotle. Chipotle rocks. I wholeheartedly concur!
  5. I read a really nice article about Amazing HD in the Verona/Cedar Grove times today. I don't think it's available on-line. I hope to stop in while I am in town this weekend! -Scott
  6. In Florida there is an offshoot of PF Chang's called Pei Wei Pei Wei - Website We also have several PF Chang's locations in the area that I live. When I was living in NJ, my brother and I would drive up the the location in Westchester, NY. I kind of got tired of going there after a while. I enjoy going and think the food is good. I kind of remember it being better the first time I went there in Newport Beach, CA. I like the fortune cookies they give you a lot - they have a nice flavor that I haven't found elsewhere. -Scott
  7. I'll have to fly up from Florida!
  8. Thanks Nizza. I will call TV this week and let her know. I am sure if you ask she might give you some of the sauce to go. They give me some peanut sauce to take home. Ask for TV who is the owners daughter and tell her that Scott from FL said hi!
  9. Oh yeah the market is cool. They actually had me searching for some vegetables down here in FL that they couldn't find during the winter in China Town. Next time try the ginger ice cream and sticky rice is good too. I like the curry puffs appetizer as well. -Scott
  10. I am not sure yet what I will be doing tonight. The bars down here in FL are crazy. My friends husband is playing at a Irish bar in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. I am in the mood for some corned beef and cabbage though! Have a great evening and weekend all!
  11. Whenever I am in NJ a trip to Brookside Thai is a must. I will admit that I am good friends with the owners. I do notice a lot of people order the fried red snapper. I am not a fish fan so I always have TV fix me something else. The desserts are great too. They serve homemade ice cream. Now I am hungry! -Scott
  12. Hey boys, Sorry to hear about the fire and see the pictures. I feel really bad. I was on the Verona-CG web site and didn't see mention of it. I hope that everything works out for you and look forward to coming in again. Meanwhile.. depending on what part of Florida you are going to give me a ring and we can go out and grab a beer! I am in Boynton Beach. Take care and best of luck! -Scott
  13. My dad would tell me stories of Bonds in Stiretown shopping plaza in Clifton.
  14. I read in the Star Ledger that this place and some of the station burnt down over the weekend.
  15. I'll be coming up from FL for a few days this week. I hope to stop in and say hello. I know my mom was already in there representin' Glad you guys are doing so well! -Scott

    Giambotta

Shall we place bets on how long it will last? I remember when I went to High School it was called CGI or Cedar Grove Inn. I used to work across the street at Kings.
  17. I have a job interview in Manhattan so I may actually be in town next week. I'll try to stop by. Best of luck! -Scott
  18. Wow I had no clue that Try My Thai had closed. Last I was there maybe a year ago they were expanding into the space on the corner. They also have/had a place on Federal in Ft. Laduerdale near Sunrise Blvd. I wonder if that is still around.
  19. Took a ride downtown last night and noticed that Timpano's and Samba Room were still there and busy. I believe they are owned by the same company.
  20. Is Timpano still there in the 450 E. Last Olas building? We used to go there for lunch often when I worked in the building over 4 years ago.
  21. Coming from the airport I would assume it would be highway travel via 95 north. I wish I could think of a great place to recommend but nothing comes to mind. I do know that if you exit at Hollywood boulevard and then head east there is a Thai place called Try My Thai that I enjoy. I haven't been there in a year or so however. Try My Thai 2003 Harrison St Hollywood, FL 33020-5019 Sorry I wish I could be more helpful. I live in Palm Beach county and don't get down that way any longer. -Scott
  22. Hello All and a Happy and Healthy New Year! I am currently down in Boynton Beach, FL because it's too bloody cold up there. If anyone is interested for dinner last night I went to a restaurant called "Bova" in Boca Raton, FL with my neighbor. Ristorante Bova It used to be called Mario's Tuscan Grill. From what I understand they redid the whole place and renamed the place. I had a nice Delmonico steak which was served with mashed potato and warm spinach which had onions in it. For dessert we each had a personal chocolate soufflé with three dipping sauces. One was a chocolate, the next a strawberry, and the third a vanilla. I also found the mens room to be really ultra modern as they had televisions in the wall above the urinals. I had never seen that. I know this is the NJ board but I am sure we have some "snowbirds" that read the forum. -Scott
  23. I am pretty sure there is a stuffed bread place on Broad Street in Bloomfield. It's across the street from Brookside Thai and the Village Cupboard deli. I am not sure if they are still in business.
  24. Eric, I just saw the picture of you and your partner on the cover page of the Verona Cedar Grove times. Great write up! -NJ2FLA Link to the story.
