  1. I know exactly what you are asking for. The are chicken in the consistency of chicken salad in a kind of cone looking shape with a bread crumb crust. They are usually served with a gravy on top with mashed potato's. I usually see them pop up on the menu at local diners. I think I have had them at the Versailles diner on Rt. 46 in Fairfield in the past. I hope this helps. I know you can probably buy them frozen also at the supermarket. Ham croquettes or croquettas are available at Latin especially Cuban restaurants and are more shaped like a small log. Similar consistency with the bread crumbs. -Scott
  2. Don't a lot of Mexican places make the food earlier in the day and when you order it they sauce it and put the platter in the oven and heat it up? I know this wouldn't work for the fried items but for some of the other items? Just curious because every time I go for Mexican the food comes out really fast on a HOT plate.
  3. Eric, All of your customers are here in South Florida clogging up our roads and eating establishments! You can have them back some the spring! I hope things pick up for you. I will be in town for Christmas and hope to stop by. -Scott
  4. I will be bringing a nice looking, huge Coconut Curstard Pie from BJ's to my office pot luck on Tuesday.
  5. I was thinking of you guys tonight and I went to the Costco in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I did see the 8qt in Blue (maybe red - I don't recall) I believe for about 159. I know Costco is pretty consistent with their prices.
  6. Hi All, This year I will be going to my brothers house in Dallas, TX. My parents will be flying down from NJ and I will be flying over from FL. Have a Happy and Healthy, -Scott
  7. AM Varityper is the company that used to occupy the large empty office building behind where Burger King and My Limo is. It was a typsetting company. 11 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Here is a retro link: http://pdf.textfiles.com/jscott/1980-varityper-brochure.pdf I believe there is a school directly to the left of the building.
  8. Is that the site of the long gone Varityper?
  9. I was at the pier last month. It's pretty nice in there. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants however. There is a really neat water show in the back towards the ocean on the ground level.
  10. Reminds me of a time I was doing technical support and a laptop was sent back to the home office broken. The note said that the user spilled some water on the keyboard. We knew it was wine the moment we opened the box. You could definitely smell it. Moral of the story - don't mix wine and laptops! Here in FL we a few of these new places where you can go in and have a glass of wine at a bar or table, usually someone playing some live music. They also might sell some cheese or light snacks. They will also sell wine by the bottle. The premise is to have multiple wines available for the customers to try.
  11. Thanks for the quick reply. I will try to make it out there. Tomorrow night I think I am headed over to Brookside Thai.
  12. There was an article in todays Star Ledgar about the Milburn Mall and Tabachnicks and Sonny Amsters Bakery closing down. It did mention Syd's as well (not closing).
  13. Hi all, I am coming up from Florida tomorrow and thinking about trying this place with my dad. Anyone been there lately? I am sure it's still terrific. I might go Saturday before my flight back home.
  14. I will be in town this week and this is for sure a stop for me!
  15. Remember choosing plates from Column A and Column B? The family dinner.
  16. That does sound correct, I kind of remember hearing about two Jade Fountains.
  17. I have had some decent Prime Rib at Charlie Browns and love the salad bar.
  18. When I was younger I remember a Polynesian place like that on RT 23 in Wayne on the southbound side. It's not a Japanese steak house but the same building and behind it is a hotel. Anyone recall the name? I also recall the Jade Fountain in Clifton and Ding Ho in Passaic on Main Avenue. -Scott
  19. Hey Rick, I am rarely in Hollywood any more so I can't really make any suggestions. I can tell you that the Westin Diplomat is gorgeous. Make sure to bring a camera. I hope the weather is nice as well. Enjoy your trip. I do know that around Hollywood Young Circle (or whatever it's called now) on Hollywood Blvd. there are some places to eat. I know Mama Mia's is good but you don't want Italian. Wish I could be of more help. -Scott
  20. They closed a number of stores here in Florida. I used to go one around the corner from my prior home. There is one that is near by and the prices are sometimes better than Publix on some items.
  21. what was the brand of ice cream? ← I was their Winn-Dixie Prestige brand. It was on sale for $3.99 last week. Not sure if that is a good deal for ice cream or not. I have plenty left in the container.
  22. I vote for Key Lime pie. I got some Key Lime ice cream at Winn-Dixie recently. Yum-o.
  23. Brazilian Steakhouse & Sushi. Why does this sound like they are riding out a fad? Well maybe not a fad, but it's just a strange combination. I see more and more of these Brazilian Steakhouses popping up.

Check out Try my Thai Try My Thai 2003 Harrison St., Hollywood, 954/926-5585 I have been going for years. They recently moved up the block closer to the circle. Also Mama Mia's on the circle is always good. Great garlic rolls! -Scott
  25. They have an impressive web site. When I am in NJ I go to Iron Bound section of Newark for the Rodizio which is similar concept. There are a bunch of places. I also noticed that a few of the Churrascaria's advertise in the magazine in airplanes. I never checked out this chain but now will. I am currently in Boynton Beach but might take a trip to Miami. I also have a brother in Dallas and there are 3 locations near him. Thanks for the review and I will check it out next time I need to clog my arteries! -Scott
