Both times over the years I had severe problems with ants coming in, the exterminator found a large ant hill. The first one was under a pine in the front of and 100 feet away from the house, and the second was under the sweetgum in back and very near the house. They dug them up and sprayed outside around the house. The hills were full of hundreds and hundreds of white egg cases. I never was able to do anything with them until getting to their source outside. Pesky as the little critters are, I think they may be safer to have in the kitchen than pesticides.

I have yet to outsmart them but I've determined that ants come into my house for a variety of reasons.  Top four:

    • Too wet outside
    • Too dry outside
    • Just passing through
    • Cat food

And honestly, I think the cat food is just a bonus.  It's surely a bonus that warrants calling in reinforcements but I don't think it's the main draw.

The last incursion, after a good rain,  emerged into the kitchen from a corner where the wall meets the ceiling, smack-dab in the center of the house.  The other side of that spot is behind the furnace but I can't see it and never figured the actual point of entry.

I believe they are in control and allow me to occupy the house, most of the time alone, of their own good will.

BlueDolphin? I have the same issue.

I have ants coming in thru 2 interior "junctions" in the middle of the house over the slab part/

I also figured out where these ants today came from. Apparently they have eaten thru the putty under the lip of the sink on the one side. I had borax in my laundry room and put some sprinkles on that one side and wet it down with Windex (not a Big Fat Greek Wedding joke) now Ive seen zero ants. YAY! Tomorrow ill clean it up and go spray the outside.

    TY all

  3. Everytime it gets warm out, I will get ants in my kitchen.

The past few days were warm, and you guessed it, MARCHING ANTS!

This am Ive scrubbed my kitchen down, sprayed ant spray in all the crevasses and along the bottoms of the cabinets, then went shopping. Came home, relaxed a bit, then got up to make lunch and boom, ANTS!

    I cant take it anymore!

    What can I do?

Sheetz stores are jarring indeed.  And I agree too about WaWa coffee. Its weak and not particularly good.

    Regular Wawa coffee is perfect.

The problem is that lately our tastebuds have been accustomed to coffee drinks that are made with French Roast or Espresso and highly flavored.

  5. They have one healthier Sizzli, the whole grain muffin, egg white and turkey sausage.

    All the Sizzlis are good.

When Wawa went into Orlando, Florida, now the surrounding states are begging for Wawas. Wawa is the Wegmans of convenience stores. Amorosos developed that ready baked roll system for Wawa Florida.

Seriously, what other gas station can you get Kale Quinoa salad with GOAT CHEESE?

    WAWA!

The closest Sheetz to me is off 422 in Birdsboro. They have unique ready made sandwiches and LIME TEA...Oh and Oreo Parfait.

The worst is Turkey Hill or any convenience store that has those snacks on hot rollers. UGH!

The veggies were terrible and tasted weird. Is their such thing as veggie preservative? Their was definitely something in that sandwich that had no business being near food.

Thats what I said, there is something on those veggies to make them look all perfect all day

There is no such thing as free shipping.  You either pay for it in the price of goods, or you pay for it as shipping.  WebstaurantStore's shipping charges track pretty closely with what I expect their actual costs to ship stuff via fed ex ground are.  I've run into some oddnesses, though, where I had something that when I added it to the order's shipping to go down.  Find some other stuff you need (tongs?  mixing bowls?  cmabros? Conveyor toaster?), which will reduce the per item shipping cost.

Years ago I bought a 25,000 BTU Heavy Duty window a/c on Amazon with free super saver shipping.

    $250

    The thing is 136 pounds.

Today its being sold with Prime, for $655.00

    I believe in free shipping.

You've described Wawa hoagies well. It's rare that subway gets much traction near a Wawa. They also try really hard to improve the lot of their employees. Admirable company.

@gfweb I was a Wawa employee. I was a Hoagie maker when we opened the King Street Wawa in Malvern. That was an IGA supermarket.

Never heard of Wawa or Sheetz but if they sell 12" sandwiches with meat, cheese and as many veggies as you want to stuff in there with better quality than Subway and they aren't just as popular, they need to have a talk with their marketing department.

Wawa is the best convenience store in the USA, Sheetz #2

Not so impressed with Sheetz as I am with Wawa but yeah.  You get a decent hoagie , made pretty quickly, at a fair price. And sanitation is very good.

    Sheetz has Muffalettas!

Subway's not great. I don't think anybody realistically expects it to be great.

If Wawa and Sheetz can make great samiches...Subway should be able to.

We have two options here..Subway and Pizza Hut.  Both are staffed by kids who seem to suffer from raging hormones.  As a result of this, getting an order right seems to be impossible.  As I'm trying to tell the girl what I want on my sandwich, she notices someone walking by.  I'm immediately forgotten as she asks her co-worker if she saw his cute butt?   I also notice that every Subway I've been in has the same odd odor.  Kind of a musty smell that makes me check out the veggies that are waiting to live on my lunch.  Often ask them to skip the greenery.

We often go to a Quiznos in a nearby town.  They have had the same employees for years and take an honest pride in their product.  Stuff is always fresh and the place is spotless.  Difference between Subway and Quiznos is day and night.

    Yes Subway has a "smell"!

I think its some sort of veggie preservative. Or, no, you know what  I think it reminds me of?

The smell of frozen meals which have peppers in them. You know that smell?

  13. Yay, its been posted!

Pretty interesting. The article I read didnt say what the rest contained, so Im glad y'all cleared it up.

    SOY!

Rotuts? Ill never go to Subway, I live in SamichVille, no need.

My ability to pick ripe avocados that aren't a little  black in the center is poor when picking from the ripe bin at the grocery store.  These days I've been having to plan a few days ahead and buy them green and ripen at home.   So far so good

I really hate when YouTube chefs will open an Avocado see its rotten and keep cooking with it on cam. At least have a few extras handy and edit out the nasty one. No one wants to see that.

The word "powder" didn't come into it anywhere...you may have misread "power blender," perhaps? I was referring to the Vitamix/Blendtec kind of machine.

I guess it would have been clearer if I'd called out the corresponding part of Ess' post as a quote, but I hadn't yet had much caffeine. :P

Well, Im loopy from painting for 5 days...so... :D

It "can" be eaten, but there's a reason it's not.

Even sites/bloggers advocating for its consumption concede that you need to grind it finely and hide it in something, because it tastes dreadful. By all means give it a whirl (yeah, that was a power-blender pun) if you feel in need of the fibre and vitamins, but you probably won't make a habit of it.

What powder are you referring to?

  17. Hey @gfweb  since you are familiar with my area (KOP/Valley Forge) did you see that KELLERS MARKET in Audubon/Oaks that occupied the old Genuardis? It popped up, then closed up. The owners are Korean, they have a Kellers in Philly and tried to open a mkt out here and it failed horribly.

They wanted to create a multi ethnic community market with fresh foods and live bands etc

But even at the Grand Opening they had no frozen section and many of the shelves were bare.

It just wasnt well thought out. I was really excited when I read the website, then the reality was

    NOTHING!

They were talking about offering fresh foods that no other supermarket offered, shame.
