Oh my it looks so good. (wiping the drool off the keyboard) However, I'm a "hungry gal" though the serving sizes may worry me since sometimes I skip meals to eat at a place where the food looks as good as this!
  2. MMmmMMmm Whole foods take out is superb! Also, someone mentioned Marra's the place in Emerson IMHO is a bit overpriced for what they have... some of it is nice but they could cut their prices by 25% and have 2x as many customers at least! I find the least expensive produce (I pinch pennies till they yell out "honest abe!") I found is at Han ah Rheum's (spelling? - sorry!) and also King Fong's you can really find a bargain there, now and then and I'm really good at finding interesting and new sauces for my chinese buns and stuff! Another... ok well, the closest to my home and the best up this way is the Apple Tree Market on the top of Kinderkamack Road in Montvale about 1/8 mi from the NY border! I wish more restaurants dabbled with things like Hoisin sauce and Char Siu Bao sauce and Victoria's product line too (such as their salsa and chipolte salsa's!) it's nice to get away from the standards of mayo, mustard, variations on both and the "american standards" ketchup, bbq etc. I personally like this mix when "dipping" or basting on the bbq - strange but good 1 part ketchup 1 part bbq sauce (preferably honey or onion or garlic flavored) 1/8 to 1/2 part mustard and 1/2 or 3/8 part mayo - mixed to flavor or personal taste. Sort of like russian dressing with a kick but on the sweet side.
  3. I'm happy there'll be another good restaurant close to here. Yay! Just sorry for you Teaneck area folks...
  4. I've been convinced that it is in my best interest to go... (winking at the coercing parties) Right now, Sunday is in the air at this time since we have things going on. Please RSVP for 2 - 1 paid / definite AND 1 unpaid indefinite. It depends on weather and schedules etc. Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you all there.
  5. WTC did you get a chance to go there yet? If so I need details! LOL... I don't want everyone here on EG to think I'm some ranting sandwich craving curmudgeon! I ordered the "Godfather" today - I try to order once every 1 to 2 weeks when I have time from all the local places at least once and some even twice! I won't talk about it lest we drool on our keyboards but suffice it to say the sandwich was very delicious! I heard she may be making some "Butter chicken" tomorrow if she does I'll be in trouble because I try to make it a rule not to order or go to the same place two days in a row. Hmm, maybe I will just have to break my rule just this one time! Curlz and anyone local to the Paramus area, you have to come by here too!
  6. I like a modified South American Hot Dog... Quick cooked/fried hot dog with a line of mustard and ketchup a dollop each of mustard and bbq sauce and carmelized onions on top of melted cheese with crunched up potato chips as a topper may sound big or "nasty" but it really is tasty if you mix it just right! (Side of hash browns with or without roasted peppers is a must!)
  7. Is it the mountain house in sparkill? If so does anyone know if there's an online site for it or menu? Any other suggestions closer on or near rt 59 and 303/304 area? Thanks again.
  8. I strongly second Jason's suggestion. I've only been there once but it made a heck of an impression on me. It's a shame that Silver Oak isn't closer to my house but in the words of someone more famous... "I shall return"!
  9. I got their thin rice crackers with soy sauce... I HATE Trader Joes now they have forced yet another addiction on me! Wah! First salted, roasted pistachios shelled, then milk chocolate covered raisins, then the salmon stuffed with crabmeat then the quiches and now this! I HATE TRADER JOES! (not) heheh... P.S. I like their gimmicky smart water too!
  10. MmmmMM xaviers looks delicious... especially for lunch. (the 2nd course at supper has nothing appealing to me... just call me picky) but the rest sounds superb for supper too - also Freelance looks real good too! I welcome any and all other suggestions also has anyone ever been to Louies? in Pearl River it is always crowded and I was curious. Thanks Jason and... John great suggestions so far! I hope there are more.
  11. ERIC you are so in trouble... I sent a friend from a "blog" site over there and they said the following (forgive my cut and paste!): GOOD STUFF ****** (edited for anonymity - heh) !! (This was in response to my suggesting she try your place ERIC!) We just got back and I'm going to bust. I brought some menus back and put them in our kitchen area. I think it was Eric who helped us. In tune with Trekkie's blog, there was a box marked "Tips for cashier" at the register. I threw her a buck for taking my money and counting my change back correctly :-) YOU gotta love that! I guess they didn't like your food (just joking) I really have to visit my grandmother in West Orange soon so I can try your delicious munchables! Thanks for not disappointing my friends.

Curlz you have great taste in restaurants so far... ever been here? Have you been to any places up by me (northern bergen?) or north of paramus? I'd love to hear your and other's comments on Venue and other fine places. Maybe someone else who "drives" has been there and can advise. Thanks again.

Is there on site parking or valet parking or any access to us folks who only drive in and do not take public transportation? I ask because I am mobility impaired and about under 1000 feet is my comfort zone presently. Thank you!
  14. Also just a quick note anything by East Nyack or the Palisades mall or Haverstraw would also be great! I've been to the River Club on Byrd Street? and that's real nice.
  15. Anyone know of any particularly good restaurants in Pearl River, Tappan, New City, Spring Valley, Nanuet, Nyack, Suffern area and points east? I've heard of a Mexican place from J.P. and a place called Gilligans? I would like to try something different or fun not your run of the mill italian or chinese food. I only have very few dislikes mainly green veggies (go figure an aversion that has stuck since childhood!) and my allergies coconut and fresh tomatoes thank god I can eat sundried tomatoes and "sauces"... and I don't like to eat things that come in shells - so I hope all of you out there can really help me find some new places to try! Thanks everyone... you're great!
  16. Can you clarify that? How was the quality not there? That sounds like a serious generalization. You've pretty much eliminated a large swath of what the restaurant specializes in. A lot of people are impressed by the restaurant because of their skillful execution of those dishes which use seafood. I was being general as you said... just things I don't particularly like such as stuff in shells... But as for the quality, last time I was at C46 they didn't have anything in the side woks like they used to have such as the dumpling type items with sticky rice, they didn't have the steamed buns, they usually have 3 or 4 woks or steam baskets going. The food in the trays were neutral taste at best to me, I like more flavorful dishes than tofu (though tasty there two times before when I went!) and veggie dishes. The ones that had a bit of flavor like the mein and meat and a chicken dish they were tasty but very oily, slimy almost! Not pleasant at all. Maybe if you order from the menu it is different? Anyhow I have had 2 good experiences there and 3 bad so it's really still almost a tossup at this point! It seems that you and Rachel like them alot so maybe it's just my husband and I and our friends who have found these "bad days" and maybe they'll have a good day with us again soon... let's hope!
  17. That is why we haven't been back in a while... like the last poster said the quality wasn't there. I was considering the EG event but if that's the whole menu I'm not overly impressed since I dislike squid, octopus, soft-shelled crab, anything in a shell such as a clam, oyster, etc. If there was a different menu I'd definitely consider going or if we could order off menu or some other alternative. Are they having anything special going on there for the Chinese New Year in case I change my mind or decide to go to the EG and THAT event? Anyone know? Thanks.
  18. Jason... you're the man no matter what Stripe says! (He's my dog... if he REALLY starts speaking to me, RUN!) LOL
  19. Actually am I ever glad you asked! heeeheeee... Your menu is quite mouth watering but I will tell you what I order or pick up - when I do not order from you or a local chinese or italian place. Grilled Chicken with sundried tomato's fresh mozz' and (sliced fresh avocado's or dressing - eaters choice?) on either a baguette or a sundried tomato wrap. Sliced peppercorn lemon turkey (or is it chicken?) with cranberries, stuffing or rice or roasted potatos and fruit sliced in or on it! (like apples or mango's whatever the "house" has that particular day!) as a sandwich/wrap or platter. Pate with peppercorns with carmelized onions on a pressed bread or baguette with a nice starchy side such as your delicous mashed potatos or sweet potatoes would work wonderfully. I hope that's a good start. It's a shame I don't like to cook, I like to order or take out or get delivered.
  20. This place is way WAY too good for Lyndhurst it should by all means be in Ridgewood or Upper Montclair or in the Saddle River area... at the least. The owner was very cordial and the chef is a god... okay not a god, but pretty close. (and don't tell my husband I said this but the chef's cute too... 'cept for the tattoos!) hee-hee We had a 6? course menu with a to die for soup, 2 appetizers - very tasty, a salad (looked great but I was getting full so I skipped it), 2 main courses (each fantastic in both taste, preparation and presentation!) and 2 desserts to share both very tasty and enchantingly delicious... and each item was so yummy, scrumptious... oh my goodness it was very good. This delightful meal was shared with nice folks. I wish I was rich I'd hire him as a personal chef I bet he could even make a diet look good! LOL Now I have to find a way to get back there... now that I know where it is.
  21. Today I had take-out from my favorite place again... and I wish I had gotten 2 of each sandwich instead of one for lunch and one for supper! http://www.picniccaterers.com/ I had the: Obscene cheesesteak - Our version is: rare filet mignon, yellow and orange peppers, grilled red onions, Tillamook cheddar cheese and garlic butter on homemade baguette. Can't beat it. $8.50 They are right, you can't beat it.... it smells and tastes so fine my tastebuds are discoing! (pointing up, pointing down, turning around, clapping... LOL!) YUM! If you live near Paramus, Woodcliff lake or near me in River Vale you gotta stop in there for some fine food and sandwiches and the prices are all under 5.00 and 10.00 for almost all of them. Man, maybe I should order 2 delivered for supper tonight and lunch and supper tomorrow! Nah, I'd have to fight my dogs to eat!
  22. FORT LEE - Conditional: Silver Pond is this the same place that someone mentions is good for dim sum or is this a different one? Thanks.
  23. Robert Mondavi 2004 Private Selection Johannisberg Riesling Kendall Jackson Vintners Reserve Johannisberg Riesling 2004 and 2003 (or turning leaf... that's inexpensive as well) Carmel (Israeli) OR - Beringer 2004 Napa Valley - Sauvignon Blanc Raymond Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (melon/apple tastes/undertones) tasty! Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc 2004 All of the above are 9.00 to 11.00 in price depending where you shop. I suggest online (froogle or some site for comparison!) They go good with fish, chicken, dessert etc... very tasty!
  24. 7-11 big gulps are big glasses if you don't necessarily want class or glass (or both) :-) hope that helps! Big hearty glasses and you can refill em with the lids etc! I drink TONS of water every day... I drink so much if it was alcohol I'd be dead in less than a week of cirrhosis! (grin)
  25. Oh my... now I'll have to visit my grandmother SOONER... WOW. I have two words to say "HOLY Hot-dog" (or is that 3?) MMmmMMM that looks good.
