  1. Tommy! I went to this place (sort of reminded me of the Soprano's inside though ::evil grin: but the food was quite good. The Brick House 179 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 but some folks love it some hate it. I'm pretty picky and I liked it the night we went and they have a very generous bar so that should make your day! Phone: 201-848-1211 for your usage. Again though may I suggest Black Forest 249 Us Highway 206 - (973) 347-3344 we loved their food (hubby had game dish and I had duck!) Or 76 House Restaurant, (845) 359-5476, 110 Main St, Tappan, NY 10983 (All 3 have bars/wine etc) I hope this helps you on your next "Tuesday pick" and if anyone else reads this and agrees with me feel free to let Tommy know - we need Tommy to only get the best food!
  2. OOPS I meant this not tastefully yours! ! My bad! oops. Read on! http://www.tastefullysimple.com/ I just inquired about it - they are having a big "open to public" (so I heard) tasting fund raiser at the Pearl River Hilton? But it could be a rumor. Anyhow I'm all for trying anything new especially in small doses! (except poison or kinky things.... well... um nevermind!) It sounds like a cross between Tupperware/Avon/Schwans and Pepperidge farm to me. If anyone has gone to one or is hosting one don't forget to tell us all or at the least invite me! ::waving my hand:: *oops and also... Goffle farms has some great ostrich and other game as well, I didn't want to forget to mention that - we went there a few years back quite often when we were on a "game binge"... anyhow they're about 10-15 minutes from Paramus.
  3. Thanks Dana! Finally hubby and I went to Abma's farm this weekend and I walked around and bought a personal quiche (for supper - sundried tomatoes/spinach/artichoke hearts YUM!) a personal chocolate - pecan pie, some sundried tomato spread and some hummus chips (sundried tomatoes of course) hubby bought healthier stuff like fruits and veggies! I also tried their hot mulled apple cider in the back - oh my god it was soooOOooo good! but I didn't buy the mulling mixture because I hate cooking. I DID get my Candied apple FINALLY - thank you! Also this weekend I learned about something called tastefully yours if anyone has more info on any local parties/gatherings please let me know! Thanks again.
  4. I haven't gone to an "elegant" function there but I have eaten there and I recall the food being on the good side of very tasty! I hope that helps a wee bit!
  5. Curlz - Can't say I didn't tell you... since I didn't but I did have the name right at least! LOL now since you've always been helpful to me if you see any new Indian restaurants (NOT in hackensack though lol) in Northern Bergen Co - please Please let me know! Thanks. Note: a few weeks back we went to a great little indian restaurant, one in suffern on 59 about 3 blocks from the thruway - it was real tasty the pakoras were like soft popcorn puffy-like in my mouth! YUM! ! ! ! !

Okay the menu looks interesting enough that I may want to venture to that area however I have 2 questions. Is it handicapped accessible? Is there parking within 1 block or less. (see question 1) Thanks! If not fedex it to me! LOL *HELP!!!!!* Does anyone know ? Thanks.
  8. What is the address please? Do you have a link? Thanks. (for Carlstadt not Hoboken!) When I want good mexican tex/mex I go to La Cucina in Pearl River NY (next to Montvale NJ) or El Toro Loco in Orangeburg NY (near pearl river).
  9. My personal Preference is for Sapphire (tenafly? or teaneck or cresskill) which is about 5 minutes away from Samdan, great atmosphere and fantastic authentic tasting food! Never been disappointed yet and we've taken "picky" family members there and they love it!
  10. Believe it or not it's SIMPLER than it sounds... get the plain plastic gloves found in any CVS. (not the powder coated ones!) Voila.... you're done! Also places like harmon's has it too because of women using hair dye. LOL when our dog clean up guy doesn't come in december/january hubby has to do the "duty" of "In the line of dooty" - Barry K. (and if you need him folks he's great and well worth it (973)8902409 I put his info because I'm sure to get asked!) But they are the same as "surgical" type gloves used to applying medicine or hair dye and stuff only a bit thicker but they are not the clear types.
  11. This is quite a list. I look forward to trying these. My parents are moving from Long Island to NJ in Cranbury but we'll have a bunch to try out. ← If they moved to Cranbury they can go to Highland Park or Jerusalem Pizza which is near marlboro area or so... they have TONS of Kosher places and also East Brunswick used to have a Kosher Deli or two in town just look on the internet or in your phone book. I live in Northern NJ now. Goodluck!
  12. I went there for lunch with a colleague about 2 years ago and vowed to never go back. The portions were generous but I've seen better shrimp in Nemo! If you want good tasting seafood if you want upscale I'd try something like "The restaurant" in that area or Sea shack (I liked seashack but forget why I wasn't overjoyed with it...) -shrug- or for family or middle of the road legal seafood or maybe that new chain by outback - i forget the name but I think it's in secaucus nj. or for low end something like Red Lobster or a local diner like coach house. Either way good luck and remember only you can prevent forest fires.
  13. Also, to say that Cecil and his wife are not nice enough was a shocker to me. - Hank - Hank, I did not say that at all if you read what I wrote. I said something to the effect that they are nice - they are VERY nice. But my point was that they are NOT nice enough to overcome the lack of quality. In plain english they could be G-D but if the food is not good even G-D could not bring me their in a caravan! Most people here by now will notice my posts are far from angry or malicious, so I am sorry if you mis-understood. However that being said... I did have a FANTASTIC dinner tonight at The Black Forest Inn in Stanhope (exit 25 on Rt 80) it's located on 206 and the food was out of this world good. I had Duck with a cherry sauce reduction, hubby had a game dish of Quail, Venison and Bunny-Rabbit (grin) our guests had the seared scallops and a veal schnitzel dish of some sort. Everyone said it was the best food they had in a while. On Friday we had gone to The Old '76 house in Tappan and I had duck too, (I'm on a duck craze sorry... heh) and the two can not be compared but each was great in it's own way but if I was FORCED to say... ahem - sorry to the owner of '76 but The Black Forest Inn won hands down! I loved the appetizers more at '76 but both places had superb quality food and all courses were great. Back on track - China 46 is a place we have gone to about half a dozen times and the first time was about 15 months ago and each time the quality declines a step... I think my local "china pavilion" (sic?) in Westwood can do better! Again, the owners are great folks but they'd have to pay for my meal for me to return again soon. Sorry.
  14. I *STILL* have a strange craving for candied apples, and NO I don't want to cook them or ORDER them... I just want to buy them. Not the chocolate ones, nor the fudge or the others - the CANDY ones (the red sweet ones). I don't feel like traipsing through a local fairground nor hanging around a bodega in Paterson or such. So please help me - I know I posted this at the start of summer - I am hoping for help since it's autumn and I still haven't had one (and I've broken a molar in the meantime lol so it should be quite an adventure!) Thanks again!
  15. Usually I have had good experiences with China 46 but today the place was empty save us and 2 other tables of families. The variety was good but it all had a greasy mouth feel or wasn't very fresh as it has been in the past. Only one or two dishes I went back for, but all in all I'd rather spend my money going to Minado or Greenfields if I want variety/buffet food. I don't think I'll return here for a long time, sorry to say - Cecil and (his wife?) the other person there are nice but not nice enough to make my palate say YUM. Sorry folks...goodluck.
  16. I like these smaller "food/culture" festivals - I wish I had known about it I'd have been there... (I LOVE INDIAN food! ) I know they have one soonish in Nanuet NY usually in the mall's parking lot on Rt 59 across the lot from Sears closer to middletown? ? road. If anyone knows of any upcoming middle-eastern or indian food festivals - smallish size (because I am mobility impaired) please PLEASE let me know, I like sitting, enjoying the music and munching (and shopping too!) Thanks a BIG big bunch. On a side note: (I know there is a huge diwali one in the somerset area because my co-worker is involved in central jersey with it each year.... It's just way too big to go to for me.)
  17. May I suggest the corner of Livingston Ave & Rt 10. It used to have a bunch of small stores and I heard they always have space in that area and it's hopping during the lunch time. It's Livingston and they have openings for places all the time!
  18. Gotta love Indian Chef (always) - I recommend the potato dosa it'll fill ya right up! (forever!) LOL... Never been to Village Green - what type of food? and why is it good and why would the weather influence you? Thanks! Anyone else... please add to thread I'd love to hear your favorite places TOO!
  19. OKAY I'll tell you why... (since you asked -lol- ) Bhoj has a nice buffet on the weekend and I love chaat and can NOT find a good make your own chaat place in northern nj except for raja palace on 46 in lodi... Minado, great variety, mid-range prices - nice service for the most part! Sapphire - Super-fantastic tasting food, nice service 75% of the time (once we had a slow/stupid serve-staff) nice selection. I also like The Porter House on the top of Kinderkamack Road in Montvale (Pearl River NY borderline area) - except they need a bit more variety in their menu they have a menu with about 15-20 items or less and although they are prepared well and taste great, it'd be nice to have more than one or two fish or chicken selection on occasion. P.S. (from a few weeks/months back) I still have not found a place with candied apples in this area. ::sniffle:: (I went to the nut house and they will special order make them or I have to wait till around halloween!) Anyone?!
  20. What is your favorite restaurant(s) IN Bergen County to eat, what city is it in what type of food do they have and why? (Food, Staff, Atmosphere, Location etc...) I personally like in no particular order: Bhoj - Indian - Saddle Brook Minado - Chinese/Japanese - Little Ferry Sapphire - Middle Eastern - Tenafly
  21. Oops also Christine Nunn / Picnic has a wine & cheese? tasting coming up on Sept 14th 2005 I think? You may want to call her to ask.
  22. Hello everyone... I just got back from the dentist and stopped on my way home to pick up supper. Christine Nunn Chef/Owner of Picnic enthusiastically and helpfully assisted me in making choices for supper that were "tooth" friendly tonight! I had the most delicious dishes! Fluke in a reduction of beurre blanc (some savories... garlic?) and spinach and also I ordered the -- Risotto with fresh chanterelles in a white wine sauce of some sort (she showed me the mushrooms and they were beauties and I HATE mushrooms and spinach too heh but I didn't tell her that and I ate it ALL up with my husband YUM!!) Oh my goodness I have to tell you all, it melted in my mouth like... mmm a delicious sorbet but better! The taste, the texture, the smells, the look! No wonder she won awards this woman knows how to cook and she makes it all while you wait or if you live nearby she'll even deliver! (She offered seeing I wasn't myself but I said it's ok it'll take my mind off of things reading her interesting books there and looking at all the little jams and sides she has for sale.) This diamond in a location that is hard to notice needs to be tasted! AND the best part is my freshly drilled tooth didn't even hurt! Accolades for the great food and the kindness of Christine Nunn! I wholeheartedly recommend trying lunch or supper from there anytime you can. Have a great end of August! SC ** oops edited to give you this link in case you want it! http://www.picniccaterers.com/chef.htm **
  23. ***** Yes here are some (I like Aladdin, great food/appetizers - I hear the entertainment is good too!) Aladdin Restaurant at 382 Main Street in Hackensack has shows with music, singers and dancers every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. They also feature special show nights with famous singers from the Middle East. Call them at 201-498-9500 for hours and events. www.clubaladdin.com Also check out this site for this and other places - they break it down by location such as Manhattan, Brooklyn, LI, NJ etc...! http://www.bellydanceny.com/show.html Goodluck and Happy Birthday (P.S. I hope you really meant HOOKAH's)
  24. Darn it, I still can't find my 8" stiletto heels with the leather ankle straps I think one is still stuck in someone's tush over at Le Jardin in Edgewater from our little bar burlesque the other evening. J/K I might feel uncomfortable enough to want to leave fast but I would go to management or staff in a safer location of the place and at least pay my bill. *Shrug*
  25. JHLurie if you note in my post I mentioned - NOT Chinese - and the place in Ramsey actually has had a bad health check at least once a year on the average... and I mentioned that I've gone to Minado too! LOL but thanks. Rooftop - it sounds like a bit of a drive maybe 45 min or so but if I can convince hubby maybe we'll try it. Anyone else have any suggestions for a tasty local suppertime buffet place that is NOT chinese/asian food - preferably in or near Bergen County NJ? Thanks!
