I know at the A&P in woodcliff lake they'll do most anything for you they peel and de-vein my shrimp on the rare occasion that I cook... I don't see why they wouldn't remove the bones from your butt if you ask them nicely. (Jack is the MGR. he's real nice, so... if you can't get anyone in the butcher area just ask for Jack!) (ahem- I mean your non-personal butt of course, I'm sure you have a nice butt! LOL! ) I know some folks who need de-sticking of their butts! (evil grin)

MMmm Jensen that looked real good even for this early hour... I may make one myself albeit a bit modified -tomatoes (I'm allergic to raw tomatoes!) but I may put in black olives instead for that little bit of extra juiciness and flavor. YUM!

Restaurants in Rockland County close to NorthernNJ
Anonymouze replied to a topic in New York: Dining
I recalled a place I used to go in Nanuet on 59 behind McD's by Pathmark, called Posa Posa, not bad... (It's next to weight watchers... HOW CRUEL! ) heeeheeee Anyhow, I used to get their posa platter which had my absolute favorite (I wonder if there's another place nearby that has it?!) Mozzarella n Carozza and clams oreganato and stuffed shrimp oreganato (yes those clams I will eat - go figure eh?!) as a combo for around 15.00 makes a big hearty meal (or 2!) if you know a place, do they deliver to River Vale NJ (1 mi south of the Pearl River NY border?!) Please provide link or ph# etc... Thanks everyone again! -
Kings closed all of their "kitchens" except the Short Hills one last I heard...they were revamping/upgrading that one. I will check with my community college thanks!

Your tapas class sounds interesting... I am really looking for more along the lines of breadstuff like challah, bagels, breads, muffins um like that! Thanks though... I may check out your Tapas class info more later.

I am looking for some New Jersey cooking or baking classes that are in Bergen County with easy access to/from by car and preferably where I may get a seat while I learn and bake/prep etc.... Unfortunately after 20 minutes or so my back hurts so that is my only limitation. Does anyone know of anyone that has some relatively inexpensive classes or I could "intern" for (sitting and prepping?) so I may learn to bake some home-style goodies like bread or pastries? I have been told by my friend Raj that he will teach me how to make Indian Poori and that's a great start, he's right in Emerson. If anyone knows of anything or is perhaps thinking of creating something please kindly let me know! Also if you know of any restaurants or take-outs that will do this I'd be interested too. Thanks! I'm always seeking out new, interesting things to do.

Call me stupid but what's the big M?? Thanks! ← "The Big "M"" Is the Meadowlands.

I was peeping at the big M but they are sold out for Valentine's Day. I wanted to do something with something.... like Dinner & Dinner Theater or Dinner & (GOOD) Comedy Show (most lately are not that funny) or Dinner & ________? (Please, NO movies - ugh) Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated it does NOT necessarily have to be on VD and my hubby and I hate donating to hallmark and over-zealous business owners who mark up prices for that "special" day, since our Anniversary is 1 week after.

Landmark in Livingston WOW that brings back memories! I forgot about that place! Today I skipped breakfast Ordered lunch from Picnic in Emerson a little bit ago, Dan answered the phone patiently, I'm in a mood today so it was nice to talk to someone kind! I ordered their steak sandwich (gosh it's good!) and for supper I pre-ordered from them (to test Chef Christine's comment that they have good egg salad... and the fact that I hate to really cook!) a big egg salad sandwich with bacon for suppertime. Tomorrow I'll try to get out of if the weather isn't too bad, I've had a weird craving for Nathan's and I haven't had any Nathan's since the early 80's (blasphemy?!) so I'll wander down to the parkway rest-area which is nearby in Montvale and pick up 2 dogs and some fries if I get out... if not I'll have to order some chinese food!

Okay don't laugh at me... but I had a great burger at Coach Diner on Rt 4 once upon a time... I SAID... Don't LAUGH!

I have to admit I have a very strong aversion to most greens. The smell, the taste anything "chlorophyll-ly" UGH! I do like however Iceberg lettuce (yes it has no value) also cooked green peppers, and indian pakora's (spinach) and spinach-paneer-saag etc... Find me a way to incorporate that and I'm happy. I do cook the campbell's recipe for green bean casserole using sweet peas that much I will eat!

Because presumably the turnover is higher with the cooked. Especially with pork-based goods, since they eat a lot more of it than beef and other meats. I can certainly tell you that from the roast char sui that I've bought at King Fung, it compares very favorably from the best stuff I've bought in NYC chinatown. ← one might assume that they cook the raw stuff they're about to get rid of. tasty doesn't always mean safe. caveat emptor. ← UGH I buy and eat NOTHING they would MAKE there at any "non-chain" asian type market...you'd have to be a bit "off" yourself if you did seeing how sanitary some of them are. I know that it is very bacterial if they smell, and some smell quite frequently and quite pungent. I buy the markets "wrapped" or pre-packaged stuff from off-site. blink.gif Ewww I have had Acute Gastro or salmonella... don't know which but trust me it was NOT good (most likely from a fast food restaurant in paramus angry.gif ) was hospitalized for 6 days and I was VERY sick! I do NOT want to try that again. wacko.gif sad.gif However that being said check out their restrooms also (for hot water, soap etc.) they say that is a telling sign sometimes.

Now that you mention egg-salad with bacon. I only can find 2 places by me who make it "right" I hate it with onions or celery in it -UGH- River Vale Bagel on River Vale Road and Country Store 729 Rivervale Road Rivervale (they make good sandwiches too) They both make it the way it SHOULD be made IMHO just egg, mayo, salt and pepper. YUM. If I can find another place that makes it that way I'm there at least once a week! I hate making it what can I say?! LOL (yes it's easy so shush you folks who will tell me this!) -okay I just found out via a little elf that Picnic has unadulterated egg-salad I shall have to check it out... ahem!-

Thanks! My best friend next to my husband, family, dogs (yes in that order!) just started working in Kenilworth on Monday at Schering-Plough and if he ever goes off site to eat I'll tell them to get from there. Do they deliver or do you know anyone in that area that does? I'm sure he'd love to know... even though I'm sure S-P has an onsite cafeteria knowing larger firms. Thanks Beth! I had those chinese sandwiches for lunch and "steamed buns and hoisin" for supper with a can of soda... nothing really exciting, I figure I'll order tomorrow if I don't feel like anymore chinese mini-lunches.

HI Beth! Where is I heart bagels?

Boy, you are a brave soul... I went into King Fong a year ago and the stench almost bowled me over. Place has an overall filthy, unmaintained apperance as well. Don't know how it passes the health inspections. For an immaculate Asian store, I would head over to Han Ah Reum in Ridgefield. It's a little further, but a lot safer on the digestive tract... (No smell in the store either). ← AMEN Menton, Tommy and Jason, amen... hubby and I walked through (like we do once or twice a month) and held our breath/walked quickly through the seafood area. I definitely would NOT buy fresh (heh yeah using THAT term lightly ) seafood, poultry, meats etc from any asian non-chain grocery. I think someone in the health department and also maybe some other department needs to get over there! However their packaged (regular and frozen), canned foods, and veggies are good and the turnover is very fast. I don't know how they pass inspection either at some of these stores (even check out indian and other ethnic stores!) and most of the stuff is not labeled in English at all so it is guess work if you can't find someone who knows or if you don't know yourself. I got these "buns" on the rack by their pastry area and I saw them being grabbed up and couldn't find my regular ones coming later in the afternoon so I thought being a VERY brave soul I'd try them... they are superb. Also they are the only good chinese supermarket in the area we go to Han ah reum also usually the same day or next day to get our Korean fix as well. Thanks!

For a more Christine friendly twist... try this substitute as well. Remove the below item* from the "Christine's" sandwich and add some nice roasted garlic instead and some olives too!!!!! *1 large Red or yellow bell pepper, quartered, stem and seeds removed Bon Appetite!

Monday I ate a funny little chinese-style hotdog with bun (from King Fong) wrapped around it and leftover KFC from Sunday for supper I had these funny little chinese sandwiches that had like potato and mushroom and pork inside or something like a potato knish type taste and 1/4 of this chinese bread that looks like Naan (which is indian)! Today I see something that looks tasty from Picnic, I hope I order in time... if so this is my lunch today! If not I'll eat some more of those little chinese sandwiches today for both lunch and supper! Yum

You may want to try this place, I've never been there but they come recommended. ::shrug:: http://www.tuntavern.com/ check it out for yourself?!

I guess being Jewish I shouldn't like a pork store? Not all Jewish people keep kosher you know. Alot of Jewish people like fresh butcher foodstuff and that is why they would go, because a supermarket is rarely the same. Locally near Westwood for example there's Karl Ehmer... On a more personal note, I love bacon, dislike most ham unless it's cooked well and tasting sweet. Some pork I dislike unless it is in a chinese roast pork bun but I will eat some pork depending on taste, cut, quality etc... love pork rinds if they're real thin and crackly. Maybe it's me but if I said on the flip side that maybe a wine store has to be pretty good to be around so long in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood too? (for example) - I know you do not mean anything by it... but you get my gist.

On the rare occasion I make something I have been told my salads are "killer salads" so I hope this is the right place to post this! Aluminum turkey roaster pan (big as ya can get!) so you can throw away after! 4 heads of Iceberg (sometimes I add butter lettuce too!) cut into mouthsized pieces more or less.... 2 jars marinated and 1 can or 2 cans of unmarinated artichoke hearts (blend together then strain off the oil!) less if you aren't fond of em... I AM! 1 container of cherry or grape tomatoes 1 huge kirby cuke (run a fork along the outside vertically then cut into slices) 1/2 pound or more of sundried tomatoes 1/2 or whole jar of roasted red peppers (sliced up) 1 can of sliced black olives (or slice them yourself... see if I care!) 1 big bag of dorito's chips (original style) MUSH it up into bits (crush that bag!) 2 containers of 7 seas creamy italian dressing 1 small bag of mccormicks or anyones taco seasoning mix Mix this mess together in your pan, without the dressing...and with only 3/4 the bag of dorito's... toss with dressing right before you serve it and top with the rest of the dorito's chips.... voila. HEAVEN!

Yesterday was "fast food" so not worth mentioning the details! But today I went to han ah reum the asian market south of route 46 in Ridgefield and ate half my lunch there and took the other half home! (and got some delimanjoo YUM!) heeeheee I ordered bulgogi roll which was so big and so tasty I only ate half! It also came with kimchee, some yellowish fruit or veggie sliced sweet smelling and some red-pepper, scallion dipping sauce and I asked them as they made it to omit some stuff because it was so big! LOL inside the seaweed wrapper was rice, crabstick, carrots, cucumbers, some yellow thingy and more it was a big sushi roll if I only knew I would not have ordered my second item! Seafood pancake it had scallions, string beans (yes I ate the "green stuff" for those who know me - lol -) it was like a scallion pancake only with seafood in it too and slightly crispy/cooked very tasty with free dipping sauce as well. I grabbed a coke and enjoyed half my lunch, the other half I took to go... it was really good you should check out their foodcourt sometime! About 15 min start-to-end for them to make your food and call your number out to pick it up! Anyone order/takeout/pick-up anything good this week or weekend! There's gotta be SOME takers out there.

If any of you ladies are local to Bergen Co preferably Paramus and points north... I saw what some of you cooked and it looks real good for shabbos. However I don't cook myself... well rarely. I am looking for home-made challah and/or lessons (not from a store!) and if anyone has seating for a zoftig woman and patience to teach please PM me, else I could just buy it from you and dream, THANKS!
