    the tuna melt

But what about a patty melt? I've never seen one that wasn't 2 sided. Edited to wave Hello to Sandy! ← Not to be argumentative... A "Patty Melt" by any other name is a freakin' cheeseburger!! Isn't Patty Melt just a silly Cheeseburger alternative name? Is there something different about a Patty Melt that makes it not a cheeseburger?? I'm deeply confused now... ← By me, a patty melt is a sandwich made on rye bread with a hamburger, grilled to taste, with a slice of cheese (variety of choice) and sauteed onions, which is then grilled again to toast the bread. Darn, now I want one for lunch!
  2. Love it... and it's the cheapest one on the shelf usually!!! (That's why I originally bought it! Happy accident!) Kind of has a smoky chipotle flavor. I wasn't going to admit this one until someone else did, but nobody has, so I'm scared, but I'm going to go ahead... rotisserie chicken from the grocery store! I use it to make chicken salad sandwiches, in pastas, in stromboli, etc. I love it! Don't make fun please! Also like Old Bay and Mrs. Dash extra spicy! Store-bought pie crust also! ← Oh, yeah; Publix lemon pepper rotisserie chicken! Eat the leg quarters and turn the white meat into chicken salad with celery and green onions and mayo and pineapple and toasted pecans, YUM!

    Versatile Mustards

Honey mustard on a baloney sandwich along with the mayo. Dijon mixed with low sugar apricot jam as a glaze for pork or chicken (particularly good with country ribs baked in the oven). Coleman's is a MUST in my mac & cheese (no pun intended) and deviled eggs. Actually any cheese sauce will benefit from a dab of mustard, makes it all that much "cheesier".
  4. Can I beg for the beef recipe, pretty please with garlic on it?
  5. Anymore, I'm just a bundle of convenience food lust! Jimmy Dean frozen omlettes, Coleman's powdered mustard for Mac & Cheese and deviled eggs, an ancient bottle of ketchup, Hellman's mayonaise (the only kind!) canned tuna in oil, little canned hams bought on sale, Nancy's Quiche Lorraine (little individual ones that can be rendered "lower" carb by scraping the crust off...) McCormick Lemon & Herb seasoning for my veggies and on my shrimp, to name only a few. Guess you can tell I live alone, huh? Oh, ready made pie crusts and sausage ball hor d'ourves. Edited to add stuff I forgot...
  6. I remember my Canadian born Grampa eating apple pie with cheese when we lived on Long Island. I on the other hand, preferred the heavy cream.
  7. Now that I've thought more about, I believe I'd be a peach cobbler; crusty and a little flaky on the surface and sweet, warm and a bit spicy underneath. Just lavish me with cinnamon ice cream and I'm good to go!
  8. Word! Thanks Miz D, you're spot on!
  9. or can make you believe they know more!
  10. MANDITORY? Not in my house it ain't! Mom's recipe was good enough for her and good enough for me. A bunch of thin skinned potatoes (depends on how many you're feeding) celery hearts, chopped not too small, big yellow onion ditto, Hellman's mayo, and sour cream, salt & pepper. Boil the scrubbed potatos to fork tenderness, cut into rough chunks when cool enough to handle, mix with onion and celery, stir in mayo and sour cream (start with less than you think you'll need) about 2:1 ratio and season with Kosher salt & fresh pepper. Refrigerate to blend flavors. Before serving you'll need to add more mayo & sour cream to replace what the potatoes absorbed. Stir in well but gently, so the chunks of potato don't break up. YUM!
  11. Two more for me, Debbie Moose's "Deviled Eggs" and (soon to be delivered- I hope!) "Being Dead is No Excuse" . I got Being Dead from the library for a trial run and decided I couldn't live without it! (pun intended...)
  12. Since my grandfather, "Pop", kept bees I learned early on that honey will draw an infection of any type. He cured my grandmother of leg ulcers that way!
  13. My ex (I miss my handyman, if nothing else) built a custom set of bookshelves to house my cookbooks. The exact measurements were taken from the size of the binders which hold my Gourmet magazines from back in the 40s, so many binders per shelf. This was great, but I forgot that I have to stop buying books for them all to fit. Have started passing on hardback and paperback fiction to my niece, but not the cookbooks yet. ← Wow! I envy you. My little condo is just getting fuller,FULLER and FULLER,and I still don't have nearly half what I lost in the fire.
  14. ← Gee, he coulda had me there; I ought to be enough to cover the "fat chicks" part of the request!
  15. Rick, you HAVE to read "Being Dead is No Excuse" a very, very funny book about hosting funerals in the south. It's a major giggle producer, with some very good recipes in it. IT IS A HOOT!
  16. Either a"gutsy" gingerale like Vernors, or maybe a Jamaican ginger beer, if available? Maybe Squirt, if they still make it. I remember it being tart and grapefruity.
  17. That's the stuff! You might need to run it thru a blender and a sieve, but it IS accessible. ← Thank you very much.... ← Just a random act of senseless kindness, my dear!
  18. That combo usually goes by the handle of "New Orleans Breakfast" Me, I prefer a Bloody Shame (virgin Bloody Mary) for the first two or three. Then watchout, world...
  19. That's the stuff! You might need to run it thru a blender and a sieve, but it IS accessible.
  20. Good grief, why not? I LOVE pork & pineapple together.
  21. Since you're in NYC, go to a decent Hispanic grocer and look in the freezer case for Goya brand. Here in Florida the Publix stores all carry it, and it's fairly cheap; about $3 for a maybe 12 oz pkg. Hope this helps!
  22. I hate to sound like "Woman's Day" or "Family Circle" but do you take advantage of coupons?
  23. Whee! Five more for me, all Southern Living Annuals from the '80s. They're replacements for ones that I'd been given by my mom as Christmas gifts. I miss her.
  24. Um, not to rain on your parade, but have you checked Customs regulations about importing some of that stuff ? I'd hate to see your good money in the airport trash can...
  25. Whee! Our mail carrier just delivered my "Mitford Cookbook and Kitchen Reader", and I have a s#it load of Southern Living Annuals and a batch of 6 other books coming from e-bay Boy, am I gonna be a readin' fool!
