(SNIP) Ah, good times. I used to eat like there was no tomorrow. Oh, wait. I still do. And I guess that whole "he's a growing boy" justification doesn't quite work anymore either. Darn! (/SNIP) ← Sure it does, just means around, rather than up! Welcome to the world of the horizontally enhanced! (Ducks and runs) -
That magic mouthful: a taste I will never forget

The first asparagus, when I was probably 2 or 3. The first avocado at about the same age, as guacamole. I knew then I always wanted to eat like that! -
WOW!! What a coup for you and for us e-gulleteers. Hope all goes well and foodily! South Florida is NOT exactly a hot spot of fine dining, but I'd love to help out if you do happen to get down here. Best of the best to ya, Chris!

Throw away the skin? You certainly know how to make a grown man cry. ← Well, by the time the chicken is cool enough to remove the stuffing and shred the meat, the skin is, shall we say, not so crisp anymore. If I was making a roasted chicken to eat for dinner, you can be darn sure that the skin gets served with the meat carved from the carcass. Speaking of which ... perhaps a quick stop at the market on the way home tonight for a roasting chicken. I'll let you know how the skin is tomorrow. ← No, no, no! First you skin the roasted bird, THEN you put it to cool (while you sneak yourself a chicken skin cook's treat!) So, what happens to the stuffing?

No, no! Must mix your mayo and cranberry sauce (of whichever type) together with a fork, blending gently to a farily uniform pink, then spread BOTH slices of bread with a healthy glop!

Baked Snow Pea Crisps. I'm not sure of the brand name, but I can get them at Publix and be out of them again before I get home!

McCormic's It's A Dilly seasoning blend. It has dill, lemon & "seasonings", but no salt. It perks up almost anything savory.

Jaymes: Ditto the egg-recipe seekers. They ask, you tell 'em, and they think you're trying to pull a fast one. (I always get a grin out of people who swear they can tell the difference between Duke's and Hellman's ... when the difference is between Hellman's and MW.) ← Sorry, but I can tell the difference between Duke's and Hellman's; I think Duke's tastes like MW! I grew up on Long Island and in northern NJ; Hellman's all the way. My grandfather loved his home-grown tomatoes with sugar and Hellman's. Me, too!

Shrimp and/or trout and/or clams and /or salmon on the grill, with grilled veggies. Is the foraging any good up there? I dearly love day lily buds sauteed with a bit of soy sauce!

Its been a looooong time since I've been down there, but I know Penn Dutch is still open on NW 28 Terr. They have really good meats in larger quantities (meant for family shopping for a larger family, not wholesale size like Costco) and they used to have a really good deli, too. Just for reference, NW 28 Terrace is just west of I-95. Enjoy!

I believe that it's know as a "personal size watermelon" and just like its' big brother, you thump and also check the stem end for fragrance and a bit of "give". "Wolfishly hungry" ? I ain't got a clue. -
here ya go http://www.mitsuwanj.com/en/location.htm ← Amazing! I doubt that when I lived there there were any Asian people closer than Manhatten, and now look. I believe the store is in the area we used to call the Ferry Plaza, after the (then defunct) ferry that had run to Manhatten. Is the town library still on Hudson Ave. right down from Underhill? I don't particularly miss the people I knew then, but the town was beautiful, with all the old stone buildings and the roses. I sure do miss those ice cream sodas, though!

OMG! I had totally forgotten thier carrot and raisin salad! One of my top 3 all-time favorite salads. -
PLEASE, somebody tell me the address in Edgewater! I lived there as a teenager pre-gentrification, on Beverly Place. I hope the town still has all its' wild roses everywhere, but I doubt they survived. All I can remember about food in Edgewater was the shop on the corner of Dempsy and River Rd. where I could get an icecream soda for 25 cents.

And why does it seem to be that I ALWAYS get the "butt" (i.e. the root end) of the onion? Good grief, if it's that necessary to move every scrap of edible food, maybe you should rethink your business plan!

Just wanted to add a pet peeve of my own: imobile booths and tables. I'm a rather large woman, and I NEED to be able to position myself comfortably in a chair that I can move far enough from the table so I can breathe and eat, too. I hate being wedged in!

Thanks, *Deborah*, for a wonderful trip to another place I've never been. I've traveled around the country a lot, but fine dining was not a subject I got into at the time, (not for lack of appetite, though) and the west coast seem to have avoided me. Great Wolf, I have stove envy big time! It would fill my entire kitchen! Great pictures, too. Thanks again. -
A pot of beautifully fresh shredded cabbage, with a bunch of chopped bacon nuggets, rendered mostly crisp for the fat, seasoned simply with salt and pepper. Let the cabbage wilt into the bacon fat stirring to coat the cabbage. Serve with potatoes that have also been cooked in bacon fat, along witha good big quantity of onion and a bit of garlic. Pig out!

Maybe if you added a bit of goat cheese stirred into your Stonyfield?

Ooooh, and a sweetie he is! I MISS having a kitty or two, but in the condo it's a no-no, and since I'm on the ground floor by the pool, anything on my window sills is obvious to passers-by. -
....I know those magazines depict all us girl pastry chefs wearing garter belts in the kitchen, but.... psst! It ain't true! ← It's just an expression...please don't get upset...like hang on to your hat... ← Actually, I think the phrase originated amongst fans of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, so it isn't at ALL sexist!

I like the Hershey's Sugar Free mini bars, and Russell Stover makes some decent sugar free stuff. Hershey's has milk choclate, milk with soy crunchies (not bad at all) and Dark Choclate Candy. The taste is good, the texture not as good as real, but they answer a need.

May I suggest the type of rack that holds the inverted glasses by the base might go UNDER your cabinet? The glasses might block the outlet, but not too badly, I think. -
As a fairly new diabetic, I was advised by the wife of an insulin dependant diabetic to keep a tube of icing gel (the stuff you buy to write on cakes with) because if I was to black out, it could be squirted under my tongue, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the "medical" version of the product, which is just not colored. I seem to be having the opposite problem, though. My sugar is always WAY too high. Eventually I'll get it right, hopefully before it causes any other problems.
