Yikes... Sorry to hear.. Would love to hear from Bond Girl if she still orders on the reg..
  6. Darcie, I am really enjoying your blog.. I too would like to pay my respects to the Peninsula Coconut Cake..
  7. I know this is completely off topic, but I have to disagree with this. Schwartz's deli in Montreal is better - bigger sandwiches, and at less than half the price. Even with the exchange rate being what it is. ← And so the war begins.. Lets keep this to New York..
  8. Winewizard, I really love Elizabeth.. There is such a good vibe to the city.. I always sensed the memories and the ghosts from the past.. Through this thread, with everyone sharing there stories and history.. You all have taken me to such a wonderfull place.... Driving down the Jersey turnpike, I see this towering stone church and I get a sense of comfort.. Despite the garbage and decay that took place, the City is on its way back.. It will never be what it was, nor will anything.. But the spirit survives..
  9. PG 452 Warm Polenta salad with scallops.. I added a red pepper coulis.. It was really good. I served the salad room temp instead of hot as they suggested.. Scallops were just on the grill for a minute per side..
  10. Portugal BBQ 207 Clark Place I have been here a bunch of times and written about it a couple.. Today I had a pork sandwich with cheese.. Pork was cooked rotating over an open fire of cowboy charcoal.. As it rotates, it is brushed was a salty marinade.. Lovely, just lovely.. Served with a huge plate of fries.. All for 5 bucks.. Vat a bargain! Note: This is only half the sandwich.. Easily a pound of meat..
  11. I think you said you just bought a new smoker.. I have seen smoked bologna sandwiches at Blue Smoke in NYC.. The seem to be a big hit...
  12. Cevicheria El Tiburon #3 Second St 908-289-4078 Been looking forward to going here.. Besides having Ceviche this restaurant has many other Peruvian Dishes/Spanish dishes.. They serve breakfast as well.. Today I got the ceviche.. A shrimp, crab, mussles, clams, and white fish in a spicy garlicky citrus sauce.. It was pretty good.. The value was certainly there, it was a huge plate that I did not finish.. Something I havent seen used in Ceviche.. THere were corn nuts on top.. Definately added a nice texture element.. I also enjoyed the slice or idaho and sweet potato they added.. It wasnt great.. But It was enjoyable.. And for 10 bucks this could make an inexpensive appetizer salad for 3 or 4 people.. They also have 6 dollar lunch plates that are huge in typical Elizabeth fashion.. Bite:
  13. I have been wanting to make that.. Its looks fabulous..
  14. I feel this is going to be the new impossible place to get into.. I see the Nobu crowd flocking to this place and totally scening it up. I hope Morimoto's keeps the same friendly attitude and service that exists in Philly..
  15. Thank you for the compliment.. These people are trained chefs who have just an hour.. I am someone who spent and Friday night and Saturday with my girl friend preparing.. Although, I do agree they really didnt do the animal justice, I am not the person to do it.. But I believe Cora didnt show an appreciation for the Pig.. It was poorly represented in the cuts of meats used as well as the preparations.. She was trying to make the pork work in dishes as opposed to showing off the beast.. Dont wrap some pork in a lettuce leaf.. Make the skin the wrap.. Make a bacon and pig liver dumpling.. Serve it in a pig consomme.. Some blood clot.. Use the tail, the trotter, the ears, the jowels.. The ribs..Her dessert was kind of silly..
  16. It was so good.. I will make it again for the super bowl and give you my feelings after the novelty has worn off.

  18. I made toffee covered bacon and then put it in vanilla ice cream.. Its a reposted picture, but I think its worth seeing again..
  19. Grilled or salt baked Porgy..With fried Pea Cakes.. And served with a Polenta.. You could do a Potato Pizza.. With ricotta cheese and sage... Penne with prosciutto and peas maybe a little percorino on top.. Parker House Rolls. Peel and eat Prawns.. Pumpkin ravioli, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie.. How about a peck of pickled peppers.. Edit to add Poached Pear Pink Pepper Ice Cream Puffed Pear Pancake Pound cake Pad Thai Panna Cotta Pork Parmasean Portobello on toasts Peanut Butter Mousse Cake Potato gratin Pumpkin Bread Pudding Peach Pudding Portobello wrapped in Phyllo
  20. Thats so funny how well known this place is.. I used to date a girl from Hartsdale. But have met many people from Westchester and this place seems to be the spot..
  21. I wouldnt say Katz's isnt well known.. Nor Barneys, or Cafe des Artistes.. These are New York Institutions famous around the world.. For me, one place I used to love to take people to.. Never ate, but we would go out drinking and end up here at the lounge.. The place is a freaking trip and a half.. Homeless people wandering the halls and riding the elevators, different support groups taking place, floors of strange things going on.. And a bunch of Army Men with rifles checking your ID.. At some point in your experience you are going to feel like you are in a horror movie.. Wierdest place in Manhattan.. Enjoy http://seventhregimentrestaurant.com/
  22. For me, I have been on a Smoked Tea Duck kick lately.. There version is awesome.. Might be the best BBQ in Manhattan.

    Menu Help

Wanted to post my dinner thank you for your help everyone.. I got a lot of interesting ideas from all yalls.. As for tonights dinner I added a salad course and went with a sorbet too because of your suggestions.. Verjuice, here was the salad you suggested I make.. It was good.. It was missing some things that I didnt want to add.. I was trying to make a lighter dish.. I would at least add some croutons the next time I make it.. Poached Quail Egg Salad with Watercress and Tarragon Sauce Next I made grilled scallops w/ a red pepper coulis I was talking about.. Underneath I had lentils mixed with dijon vinegraette.. Added chopped onion and red pepper.. Broiled quail with soupy polenta, truffle oil chantrells, and a cherry veal sauce.. Thank you for all your suggestions.. I made the sorbet out of things I had in my place. I used Rose Water and canned Lichees.. It was outrageous.. Such a natural pairing..
  24. That sounds fabulous Rachel.. Strawberries are the hot breakfast item I am seeing..
