Haha.. I am thinking what the heck is a bone dish.. I looked at it at the store and assumed it was a salad dish..

Tonight i made veal in a vinegar garlic sauce with roasted red potatoes in fleur de sal with a side of cauliflower.. (The vinegar sauce taste like a kicked up marsala.)I also made my version of The Palms Chopped Salad with anchovies.. Thanks for the inspiration Calimero! Dessert is in the freezer. edit to add dessert.. chocolate pate

I used the recipe Sarah O provided..My original plan was to make a red velvet with cream cheese icing ,but after seeing that coconut recipe i thought it would be an overkill with two cream cheese icings.. I also only made two cakes instead of three to stack on top of eachother.. With the left over batter i made cupcakes for the kids that were going to be there.

My question is: we are also thinking about remaking the mousse tonight.. I just got a case of sambuca from a customer of mine and was thinking that it would be a good idea to add sambuca to it.. How much sambuca would all suggest to add to the mixture?

Also, how about hot dog.. Its Better then scraps.

Wildflower.. hehe. i was just going to add that..

Hi Pan, In terms of decent thai places in Manhattan, with the exception of Pooket, which i consider a little lower then decent, i havent been any.. I normally go to Sripraprhai or Wondee of Siam.. I have been to Klong as well.. I would place them in that order from best to worst. But all better then decent. The majority of my decent thai experience has been in Jersey.. From East Brunswick, South River, North Brunswick and Edison. My mother is a huge fan and have been to close to 10. Two of them i would consider really good. Basically, my main criticism about this place is if you want a fried fish your only option is sweet and sour.. I prefer a garlic myself or just the option to choose.. The same goes for the lamb curry.. It is the only curry option on the menu, and its good, but not great.. Not overly spicy, a little to coconut milky for me.. So its good for a quick thai fix.

Yes this post is not confined to Testa klez, it is any part of an animal or any dish for that matter.. I think the marketing people screwed up when they tried to cover up innards and ended up calling it offal.. hehe

I was driving through the midwest when i saw something on a menu that called bull balls, swinging steak.. I was wondering if there were any other names people use to hide the names of what some people might consider gross.. Things i know are : !)Sweet Breads 2)Rocky Mountain Oysters I know there must be tons.. Please share.

Wow.. Thats shocking to me.. I have only been there once and it was the other day.. I really think the were great.. I think i ate a dumpling that was made like 5 minutes prior.. If i was going straight home i would have bought a bunch of frozen ones.

Yes, and they do make a typical Philadelphia Cheesesteak. Better than Pat's or Geno's, not as good as Tony Luke's IMHO. ← Geeze those are some pretty tall claims.. 99 miles to philly i heard from some friends wasnt that good. And i have never heard anyone say tony lukes cheesesteaks are better then geno's. Just the roast pork sangwich.

Went to a new restaurant called Land on the UWS.. The address is 450 Amsterdam around 80th. It has a very limited menu.. Its extremely narrow.. I have been a few times now and have been satisfied with my meal.. I would not say the place is excellent, but its definately a good neighborhood spot.. The spicy beef salad is a stand out.. Its extremely hot and the flank steak is prepared perfectly. The drunken noodles are shaped more like a spaghetti then flat noodles, but good still. I have also had the fried whole fish and the lamb in curry. Both not really stand outs, but on par with most decent thai places. I am looking forward to trying the duck. The place doesnt have a liquor license so i ran to the deli next door.. .. All in all its a welcome addition to the UWS as is almost anything.

There is a place near the Thai Grocery Store on Mosco that has great dumplings.. 5 dumplings made right in front of you for a buck.. Plenty of fresh pieces of pork.. Cant beat that. Where else can you get lunch for a buck.

Thanks for your help everyone.. Brought it to Easter.. It turned out really well.. I made a coconut cake too that was outrageous. But this cake looked really pretty.. I am glad i only used two cakes and left the third cake out..
-
Gifted: Thanks for the recipe.. That coconut cake is hands down the best!!! The cake itself might be my new yellow cake recipe.. The thing tasted like a large sugar cookie.. It was amazing.. I brought it somewhere for Easter and everyone would not stop talking about the cake.. I would suggest everyone make this cake.. Not hard.. The only time consuming thing is chilling the filling.. Do that first or the day before.

My girl had the smoked elk carpaccio.. The dish was cold smoked.. Had great smokey flavor.. The lobster mac and cheese was good.. It had truffles in it.. The ostrich filet was rather good too... The prices are reasonable.. Place is cute..

Went for dinner last night.. Showed up for the last seating of the night at 11... They werent serving the tasting menu.. (I really dont remember much of dinner or the night, I am using the pictures as my words ) .. They were handing out saganaki with Haloumi cheese.. Really good.. We then ordered a mez of scallops served with greek yogurt and yellowtail with something.. Really refreshing, fresh, a great way to start off.. We then ordered the sweetbreads and baccalo that i had the last time i went. The fish was exremely salty, almost like they didnt rinse it that well.. It was served with mashed potatoes.. Last time it was much better.. My date enjoyed it, but it was way too salty for me.. The sweatbreads were excellent.. This picture is a half a portion.. Since we split everything they were gracious enough to divide the app.. Without me asking.. The service is excellent there by the way and everyone is extremely knowledgable and proud to be working there.. We then split the marrow and chestnut ravioli.. It was superb.. Now since i have started baking a lot, I really have been paying attention to desserts.. This place has outstanding desserts.. I had a tasting of rose.. All were great, and really different... This is hallavah.. That chocolate cake is one of the better cakes i have eaten recently.. This dessert i would put against anyones.. This place is a treasure.
