Is there an omakase solely devoted to appetizers? ← There's something they call "Zensai Sakizuke" which is a multi-piece "Japanese antipasto". Is that what you were referring to Daniel? Or did you just get the $80-120 omakase as a starter?!?! ← Yes thats what i am talking about.. I got the japanese antipasto.. This was where they served me six different appetizers on little plates carried in what looked like a tool box.. It was great and very interesting..

This story is rather interesting.. About two years ago I was over at my friends apartment in Murray Hill.. He ordered food from this place called Iron Sushi.. The doorman buzzed the guy up and my friend was waiting for him in the hallway.. Well the delivery guy walks in the stairwell and then comes out and walks up to my friends apartment, this all occurred with my friend watching this guy.. After he received the food he went into the stairs to see what had happened.. It turns out the deliveryman urinated in the stairwell. My friend called the Iron Sushi and they fired guy and refunded his money.. That was pretty wild..

Went there last night. Not a bad drive from the city.. I unfortunately was served off a preset menu.. Had a lobster bisque and steak.. It was fare at best. The place looked great, however this menu was not.

The carbonera was prepared without cream.. There was plenty of pepper on it. And in addition to the cheese they already put on the pasta, they provided a side dish of extra cheese.. With the hostel breakfast they provided different types of liver wurste pates from schaller and weber with toasts. It also had marmalade and butter and different fish pates from schaller as well. In terms of being great or not, i would say its one of the better brunches and more interesting menus i have seen in a while.. This comming from a guy who doesnt really like breafast too munch..

Best brunch i have had in a long minute.. Had 4 of the 8 offered bloody marys.. The bloddy bullshot being the best IMO. (beef boullion, tabasco, some other crap with a red stripe chaser included) Had the carbonera, my girl had the hostel breakfast... It was all fantastic. Place opens at 10 am, be there with in a half hour of it opening to put your name on the list.. Place is great!

I trust Daniel's judgment, he was down doing a cheesesteak tour through Philly not too long ago. Unfortunately, he executed an illegal double-cheese maneuver and was expelled from our fair city. But as many of us on the Philly boards have been promoting for some time, and as implied above, the really good philly sandwich is the roast pork italian. Get one of those at Tony Luke's and it's going to be really hard to think about cheesesteaks from then on... ← Haha... Fortunately, in New York, it causes less of a scene when you order provo whiz wit.

Came back on Monday.. Had a great trip.. Saw Vegas, Arch's National Park, Vail, Winery in Colorado, Kansas City, St Louis, Memphis, Baltimore, and finally home.. Had to cut out philly and jersey due to weather conditions and getting stuck in rush hour.. Will have the first installment up in a little bits.

Havent tried all the cheese steak places. I went to Philly Slims, BB Sandwich bar, woogies, and that place on 34th ish and 3rd.. Woogies was the best one i have had so far.. I thought bb sandwich was horrific, a poor mans bbq sandwich.. Philly slims was my next favorite.

I would also like to nominate Asiate.. Place not so good.

I could say that Spice Market is by far the most over rated place.. First it got three stars.. Then i got raves here.. The place was fair at best.. I would also say the corner bistro is highly over rated.. Only because this place is so raved about.. And its average at best..

A few months ago I ordered from Dawat.. An indian restaurant on 58th street. I happen to live on 46th street.. I have been eager to try this place and was really lazy that night.. So I decided to have it delivered.. I asked if they could deliver to me, despite the fact that i was far away.. He said sure no problem we deliver there.. I give me CC and about an hour and change later the food shows up.. On the bill there is like an extra 15 bucks.. I ask what this charge is.. The guy said its a delivery charge, i had to take a taxi.. I was pretty shocked needless to say. I paid the bill while still pissed about it.. The food appeared to be of high quality, but it must have sit awhile.. It was not good, but I can see it being really good in the place. Anyway, after eating dinner... I called the manager.. He told me I was a block away from the free delivery zone.. He handle the situation very well despite the fact that I wasnt informed of this taxi charge before hand. He offered me a free dinner the next time i ordered.. I am obviously never ordering there again.. But will try eating there..

Went to lunch yesterday at Otto.. Place was great. Simple, unique dishes, with fresh ingredients.. It was a pleasure.. First of all the ciabatta bread they bring to the table is outrageous.. Its charred on the outside and beautifully chewy on the inside.. My only regret was I didn't order ricotta cheese and olive oil to spread on the bread.. We started with the fish antipasti. I ordered all five because if you want more then two you are saving money by getting all of them.. I thought they were all terrific.. I thought a few of them had similar flavors and were repetitive when served all together.. But individually they were all great.. The lemoned anchovies served with scallions, and crutons were excellent.. The octopus and the calamari had subtle differences, both were excellent, but i didn't need both. I really enjoyed the king fish served with onions and currants.. It was a really interesting taste. It had huge whole chunks of king fish.. They were great.. The cold mussels were served with sweet red peppers and onions.. I think a little balsamic was added.. The dish was sweet, fruity, delicious.. We then had the Potato, Anchovy, Ricotta pizza.. I was really impressed with the pizza.. You can tell they use a super fine flour.. It was light, airy, crisp and chewy..(Must get caputo flour). It held on to the ingredients really well. I wish i had tried a different pizza because i was a little fished out by that point.. The anchovies are the same cured anchovies from the appetizer.. Terrific none the less. I also had left over coppa from the meat antipasti i threw on.. It was great.. Interested in getting the Lardo pizza. Dessert was awesome! Again, in keeping with simple, fresh ingredients, philosophy, the gelatti came out terrific.. We ordered olive oil, meyer lemon, and goat ricotta. The olive oil came out with sea salt on it also.. Fluer De Sal? Fantastic. Everything was creamy, fresh, and tasted like what it was supposed to.. Imagine that.. (Funny, now i am looking at the picture, i dont remember trying that cookie.. I think my dinning guest stole the cookie..but i am sure it was good) The vanilla gelatti was really good too.. In fact, we had a double fisted four year old with us.. We then finished off with espresso and fig grappa.. They infuse there own grappa here.. All in all the place is great.. This place is running at 100 percent of its potential.. Its nice to see someone's vision come to life. P.S. Just to be completely slothful we walked to Eisenberg's so the four yesr old could have her first chocolate egg cream and lime ricky.
