    Made carnitas tonight...yum! Thanks for the inspiration. I forgot to get tortillas so I'll be having mine with black beans and rice.

  10. I'm no expert on baking (really), but one thing I make really well is banana bread. Often I'll use a mix of white and light brown sugar -- I concur that it adds a nice extra flavor. Try it.

  17. Oh, my head. After a lemonos maximus and an apricot sour at Zaytinya, we headed over to the party at Rosa Mexicano. I switched to beer so I can't comment on Rosa's famed margaritas. The guacamole on the other hand...truly amazing. Loved it. Didn't eat anything else though which could explain the headache.
  18. Had drinks (no food) at Zaytinya last night. They're offering what I assume is a summer special: an apricot sour. It's fantastic - fresh and a little (but not too) sweet. The web site says it's apricot brand, vodka, fresh juice and sour mix, but I remember the description differently on the menu. Oh well - it's really delicious. That's all I needed to know. Oh, and JPW, I thought of you as I oh-so-carefully washed my hands in those funky sinks.

  20. Prepping to have a ventworm margarita tonight. Off to Rosa Mexicano for a coworker's send-off. We're avoiding a sit down dinner in favor of bar snacking. Other than the guacamole, let me know if you have suggestions.
  21. My travel plans have changed so there's a good chance I'll be in attendance. If I can make it, I'll bring some sort of dessert. Does anyone know what the parking situation over there is? I assume it's just street as available, but I figured I'd ask.
  22. Top of right hand, about an inch and a half long, close to a centimeter think. "Achieved" while reaching into boyfriend's oven to flip something that was toasting under the broiler that would have been better served with a toaster (boyfriend didn't have one). <<<<<<<<<SIZZLE>>>>>>>>> Hand went too high. Ouch. Pain, suffering and loss of mobility after two days drove me to the doctor. Second degree burn with broken skin so he made me get one of those nasty tetanus boosters. More ouch. Boyfriend got a toaster for Christmas.
