  1. Sounds like a great bit of local color. Where is it exactly (either the address so I can map it or a description of where on Tchoupitoulas in relation to the CBD)? Thanks!
  2. Both are chains so...six of one, half a dozen of another.
  3. I suspect Heritage India also delivers to that location. Spices too. Spices isn't perfect, but now that I live downtown, I miss it.
  4. Do you have a car? Lots of ethnic eats in Rockville to the south.
  5. The people I'm meeting with work at 102 Jamz on National Service Road.
  6. Hello all. I spend a good amount of time in Winston-Salem, but have yet to dine in Greensboro. I have the opportunity to pick a restaurant in Greensboro for a casual business lunch on Monday so I'd love your recommendations. My colleague is a pickier eater than me so anything too exotic is out. No sushi and Thai isn't my favorite.
  7. I would add Degrees at the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown. Not sure what the crowd is like these days, but the fireplace is warm and the lighting sets a certain mood. I adore Proof, the restaurant, but there's not much room in the bar area. Hell, that might be what young hipster is seeking, but I felt I should throw that out there. Veritas is so happening that there's rarely elbow room there either. Still, I like the place.
  8. Oops, I just came across this question now. Last trip, I really enjoyed Herbsaint for lunch. I'd like to head back there this trip (I'm in New Orleans now), but boss just asked me to meet him for dinner in the Quarter. Tomorrow night, I'll be at the Hornets game so probably no dinner.
  9. Bump! Anything new up the pike? I'm meeting a business contact in Rockville for lunch next Friday and am looking for some good ideas so we don't end up at Houston's or similar. Not too fancy, not a dive either.
  10. The owners of Sweet Potatoes have opened a second restaurant called the Cotton Mill. I'll be in town in a few weeks and hope to check it out.
  11. I think we'll be sticking with Manhattan. No Newark this trip.
  12. How long is long (re: the line)? I will be in town Sat-Wed and am thinking this could be a fun spot for lunch with my parents on Sunday.
  13. Any recent updates? I'm looking for a spot for a small birthday dinner. Something fun and it doesn't need to be a temple to food. Will be next Tuesday night. I used to enjoy Plataforma and Riodizio (RIP) when I lived in NYC many moons ago.
  14. I have eaten at Sweet Potatoes 15-20 times by now. My only complaint about lunch there is that the terrific grits are only available at dinner! I have really enjoyed my many meals there. Very few clunkers in the bunch. I have had lunch at Noble's once and enjoyed it very much. At the various Village Tavern locations, I have been disappointed by some dishes, but thrilled by the think crust pizzas. Not a fan of South by Southwest. My first visit to Bleu was interesting in a good way and I'll get back there soon. Cross posted on donrockwell.com
  15. For weekends prime time, expect to book two or three weeks ahead of time. A bit easier during the week.
  16. Anything good and casual near the Waldorf? The hotel's breakfast options are way fancier than I need. Today I'm tempted to cab downtown to Grey Dog in the Village...would love something closer for tomorrow.
  17. IMO, Five Guys is a winner if, and only if, you're choosing between Five Guys and McDonald's or Fuddruckers. Still, given the age and size of your group, it will probably work for one meal. Busboy's and hjshorter's suggestions are spot-on, especially about going to Adams Morgan for Amsterdam Falafel or that hot dog place whose name I can't summon up at the moment. I wonder if Mama Ayesha's could take your group. The space is large.
  18. What's the best spot for beignets near Harrah's? I'm in New Orleans on business right now and don't have as much free time as I'd like, thus the request for close proximity.
  19. Hi there - another first time Dallas visitor, but different part of town. I'm staying by the Galleria. What would you recommend as I'm trying to avoid chains or other uninspired stuff. No sushi, no Thai. Mexican would be great, but other than the aforementioned qualifiers, I'm open.
  20. A place where Potbelly doesn't exist? I'm moving to Cleveland.
  21. Zaytinya, Cafe Atlantico, Matchbox, Oyamel...try a search for "Chinatown" or "Penn Quarter" to find reviews.
  22. One thing to note: Firefly has a new chef. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you should be aware that things are in flux.
  23. I think it's described in the review, but I'm too lazy to look. I know there's chicken livers and butter and...
