What is a "Bottle Service Reservation"?

My husband and I are headed to Atlantic City tomorrow night and I noticed on the website for the hotel that they mentioned to contact someone for a "Bottle Service Reservation".

I googled the term and saw that this seems to be a term used to get VIP treatment at clubs and the like, but can anyone elaborate about what it actually means? I assumed it meant reserving a bottle of wine, but that was about all I could come up with.

Thanks!

I have no idea, really. But I'll guess that it refers to making a reservation for wine service if you expect to order or bring a quantity of wine and/or open old or rare bottles--in other words, if you want wine service that may require decanting, flights of glasses, more than one wine steward, etc.

It pretty much means you will be expected to order a full bottle of wine/liquor from the list. You will have your own server and will be granted some VIP treatment (for a price that is)

It's a way to buy booze at a fancy nightclub/lounge.

You get a table. You buy a bottle of booze (like vodka, for example). You pay a ton of money for it. It typically comes with a variety of mixers and such so you can make various drinks with it. Commonly, this is done for you by a person, right there by the table. Frequently, this person is a very attractive female.

jsmeeker is correct.

it began in nightclubs sometime in the 80's or 90's...in either Paris or Miami (the accounts differ).

basically, clubs have a bunch of tables in a restricted area (only people who rent tables can go into that area). you rent a table by purchasing a bottle of say Absolut for $300 or the like. this guarantees that you and your guests will get into the club.

its just a way for them to generate income. it has nothing whatsoever to do with wine or a normal restaurant.
