I gotta disagree with Katie here.

I think there's many markets overseas that put RTM and Italian Market to shame.

How did Jungle Jim's not make this list?

What's that? (Or where?)

Jungle Jim's is a HUUUUUGE market north of Cincinnati, Ohio. I have truly never been in anyplace remotely like it. It may be the warehouse atmosphere that turned some off into consider whether or not it's a market as defined by the article, but if Zingerman's is a market so is Jungle Jim's.

It was great to see the Queen Vic Market in Melbourne on the list. It is truly an amazing place! Gotta love the fruit and veg vendors who yell to market their goods.

On a different continent, I really like the Dekalb Farmers Market in Atlanta. You shouldn't want for anything there. They seem to carry everything.

Gotta love that my old home town Ann Arbor, with a population of barely over 100,000, gets on the list with Zingerman's.

was anyone else surprised to see Birmingham (UK) getting a mention for Selfridges food hall when the real markets are right next door? Don't get me wrong, think visiting Selfridges is a fantastic experience and great for gifts because of the great looking packaging, but when you have the marvellous indoor and outdoor markets selling good quality fish, meat and vegetables at reasonable prices - how can you compare? I have a vague recollection that at one point, the wholesale markets in Birmingham sold more fish than anywhere else in the country - despite being completely landlocked! But am happy to be corrected if someone knows better ....

and on a more mischievous note, surely Leeds market should get a special mention just for having a tripe stall!
