Saludos from a new user. We recently had a bottle of Mount Gay Sugar Cane Rum. I seem to remember the label said "rum", and not "brandy" as shown on the Ministry website example label. Are they the same thing but with different labels, or has my memory failed me so badly that the label really said "brandy" instead of "rum"?

Actually these are the same product but in the US, you can't say Brandy on the label since it is a sugar cane spirit and not a grape product. In Barbados, where I got the label on my site, it is called Sugar Cane Brandy.

I like this one and often find it in bars where the bartender doesn't know what it is so it is often sold as a cheap rum, which it certainly is not. I drink it on the rocks when I find it.
