Space: The Final (?) Frontier

 

 

SpaceX launched a shipment of groceries to the International Space Station on Tuesday, including the first espresso maker bound for orbit.

 

The specially designed espresso machine is for Cristoforetti, who has been stuck with American instant coffee since she arrived at the space station in November. The Italians in charge of the project hope to revolutionize coffee-drinking in space.

Oh, please. Out of a nearly $400 million contract, you're going to complain about -- what, one-hundreth of one percent of that, at the most? -- to help make the astronauts', or even one astronaut's, culinary life a little bit better?

Not to mention that anyone this cool can have an espresso machine in space any time she wants.

 

 

Cristoforetti is currently aboard the International Space Station. She tweeted a selfie on April 17 while dressed in a "Star Trek: Voyager"-style red and black uniform with a purple turtleneck.
