Hello all,

I'm starting to plan our kitchen renovation here in NYC. My old GE range died, so that was the impetus (that and the weird noises starting to come from the dishwasher).

I've been doing my research (including many, many Searches on the EGullet site) and am zeroing in on the Bosch Evolution 700 Series 30" Stainless Steel Range.

I read many positive reviews, but most of those are about 2 years old.

So my question is, are folks currently happy with this Bosch oven? It's at the right price point ($1849 including s/h) and would fit perfectly in with our apartment's decor.

Any advice and impressions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I've had a Bosch gas range for just about two years now - obviously, it's no Wolf or Five Star, but for the price, I think it's a good value. Oven cooks beautifully - temp has remained accurate. Burners are steady. Convection works nicely and baked and roasted goods come out beautifully. The broiler is not going to char a steak like pro model would - but I like to use cast iron on top of the stove for that anyway.

One of the ignitors cracked after a few months and was repaired very quickly via warranty service.

The burner grates are starting to show a bit of wear (normal) and can be a pain in the ass to clean. My biggest complaint is the fit of the burner knobs - when the oven has been on for any length of time, the heat causes one or two of them to become looser than I'd like to see - perhaps Bosch has fixed this issue on the Evolution models...I would think using a different material would make them tighter.

I bought all my appliances from a dealer in NJ - best price I could find, free shipping. PM me privately for the name...I have to find receipts.

My Bosch Evolution is about 3 months old now, and I am still very happy with it. The oven is marvelous -- very large and even-baking, and I love the proofing function. Broiler is great for a 'prosumer' range.

I haven't had any knob issues as mentioned above.

The only adjustment I've had to make is to remember that the continous grates and burner covers retain heat for a bit after they are turned off.

I've had my Bosch for only about a month now and haven't had any complaints. I was originally looking at the 700 series but ended up trying to save some money by going w/ the less expensive 500 series. It retailed for $1350 but I ended up getting a new one on ebay for $800 after shipping. You may want the check ebay out for a 700 series.

When I was originally looking at the 700 series, the best price I could find was around $1800. But my thinking was if I'm going to spend in the $2K range, then I may as well go w/ a residential series SS range. I was looking at an 30" American Range - Residentail. I could get that one from a local dealer for $2500, not too much more than the Bosch. Check out their website. They make a very nice looking range. Fairly new, but reviews look good and company has a good reputation.

But in the end I ended up going w/ a cheaper alternative. We just bought a 140+ year old victorian that I could better use that use that extra money elsewhere in the restoration budget.

One thing I must say; it pays to be a comparison shopper! I paid under $1600 for my Evolution, including tax, delivery, and a 3-year extended warranty that they 'threw in' at no cost.
