  1. We'll miss you, but there's work to be done!
  2. Thanks for clearing that up, Ed. Part of my confusion was not understanding why the Varadero would not be considered a white rum.
  3. Ed, I'm a bit confused, the Vardero 3 años is almost indentical in colour to the Havana Club 3 años. Ron Varadero 3 años (El Ron de Cuba) Ooops, but there is NO Flor de Caña 3 años (Rum of Nicaragua) . I was thinking of the 4 year old, which is NOT white, but rather, brown: http://www.flordecana.com/
  4. I like that rich, sugar-cane flavour, such as in: Flor de Caña 3 años (Rum of Nicaragua) Ron Varadero 3 años (El Ron de Cuba) Ron Havana Club 3 años (El Ron de Cuba) (a pale yellow in colour) Tasting Notes (NOT mine, cut & paste): Aromas of sugar cane and fresh herbs. Mouth-filling, clear and correct. I've not had the Brugal White Rum, only the Brugal Añejo, which I find very good, especially for the inexpensive price. Do these fit in that catgory, Ed?
  5. Well, Dan, we ship it to my friend in Buffalo, and you pick it up when you go down, or he comes up.
  6. Don't think so Ed, if you have tried the rum... Oops, sorry, removed the link.
  7. No, I don't think I should, as I am primarily interested in Cuban rums, and there is but little info in there. But perhaps soon...
  8. Anyone tried it?
  9. Ron Havana Club Añejo Reserva Not my tasting notes, only cut & paste: Tasting Notes: Añejo Reserva has a lovely amber colour. This Cuban rum first manifests a floral bouquet and aromas of vanilla and light tobacco, then the more robust flavours appear, resulting from long ageing in barrels. Anejo Reserva opens up into strongly flavourful spirits that reveal complex, lasting aromas of cacao, coffee, tobacco and spices. Añejo Reserva is consumed as a liqueur. The complexity of its aromas are fully brought out by adding an ice cube or by allowing it to open up for a few minutes in the glass.
  10. Havana Club, of course.
  11. Me, too, Dan. I can get you a bottle, I think. But, as far as getting it into Canada, Buffalo is about as close as I can come. It's pretty expensive, about 80 Euros, iIrc.
  12. Have a little of the Cuban left, which I will finish tonight.
  13. I've since had the light type, which I find much better, even palatable.
  14. No trip South necessary to consume Havana Club. "Oh, Canada..."
  15. Welcome, Dave!!!
  16. Oh, yes, about the rum in this topic...think I'll pass on any more, not that it's available locally. The aftertaste is a little to metallic for me. The reason most people from the uS like Bacardi, it that they have never tried anything else that's decent, only less expensive, worse rums. I thought Bacardi was rum, until I tried HC7, a little over 2 years ago! Now only Bacardi 8 or Anejo are good to me, of that line.
  17. 10 days in Florida, next month. Will be buying, and consuming, lots of rum.
  18. LoL!
  19. Enjoyed "Stinky Finger" dry ribs while I was there.
  20. Another wonderful thread. Thanks, fg.
  21. Wonderful thread. Finally got around to reading it, as I'm headed to Panama City Beach. for a long weekend.
  22. I've a bottle now, doesn't do it for me. Nice presentation, though.
  23. Never...heard of it, but bet it would go good with Sancho Panza cigars.
  24. I like it, seems to be smoother. Think it is blended from various aged barrels.
  25. Saw Gilligan's, but we weren't hungry when we went by.
