  1. Smoked mullett sounds great :p
  2. Of the restaurants listed in the link above, I can also recommend: Annie's Restaurant Aunt Jenny's Catfish Catfish Charlie Trapani's Eatery Don't eat to much, New Orleans is waiting.
  3. Well, no, I'm in Jackson, but have spent much time in the Gulfport/Biloxi are. Possible place to visit: http://www.msshipisland.com/ http://www.nps.gov/guis/ http://www.beauvoir.org/ Various Casinos, if you are interested in such. As far as lodging goes, I usually stay with friends, or the military bases, but... http://www.bbonline.com/ms/fatherryan/ The Father Ryan House Bed & Breakfast Inn Biloxi, Mississippi would be nice. :D As far as food, look up these in the phone book when you get there: Blow Fly Inn-Don't let the name fool you. The best ribs I ever had, came from there. Lil Ray's Seafood-Po-Boys are their specialty. Try the speckled trout if they have it. Robby's is the same as Lil Ray's Try this: http://www.gulfcoast.org/mcrba/ Click on On-line Dining Directory, next on Seafood & Local Fare
  4. Steven, so when will you be on the Mississippi Gulf Coast? Where do you plan to dine, et cetera? :D
  5. John, my profile also says me name is Bolivar Petit Corona... As far as other rums, and opening my eyes, I've tried everything available locally, and do like B8, but not for how much they ask for it, now when I can by it in Florida, at Eglin Air Force Base Class VI, I buy all they have, B Anejo, as well as Pyrat, La Flor de Cana 5 & 7, and others not available locally. Dan, Mount Gay doesn't do it for me, although available locally. The only ones available locally I like, are Pussers' (see seperate thread), and Appleton's (see thread). They are out of Appleton's, and are trying to get La Flor de Cana.
  6. No, John, I'm a newbie to Cuban rum, but have emptied many bottles in the past about 21 months. Two years ago, I thought Bacardi was rum. Far from knowing everthing about Cuban, or any other rum, I'm eager to learn, which why I'm here. On the other hand, I do post many threads, in order to stimulate conversation.
  7. Sorry for the double post, now eliminated. :wow:
  8. Here's a link to an info on an old Cuban distillery, though: http://www.delafe.com/cardenas/arechabe.htm
  9. Actually, I'm a Mississippi State University graduate, and a Confederate, but what the he11? Hope to retire to Cuba, post Castro.
  10. I agree with Holly on the Varsity Drive-In.
  11. Dan, I don't get that Myers aftertaste, although if I did, HC7 would sink rapidly on my list.
  12. If the refs let 'em play ball, they, like the football Ducks, will have never seen such physicalness and speed in a game. Our young men aren't gentle. But, 1st we've both to win a couple of games. :wow:
  13. Hey, PD, did you notice that Oregon and MSU are in the same bracket? Heard Duck tastes just like 'gator.
  14. Kristian, seems they are updating, so we'll have to wait to see the Dorignac's selection.
  15. Cj, we'll miss you. Hurry back soon.
  16. iIrc $14-15.
  17. Welcome, Murrayh! Don't know about that, but it's avail in Mississippi. Don't really like it, but I got it at half price.
  18. Welcome, vern. Who the hell is sancho Panza?
  19. Jason, yes, it is closest to me, too. But, unfortunately, I can't find it locally, although I do have one store attempting to get FdC7.
  20. Welcome, fellow leaf & cane lover! Wish I could answer your question, giving us all a HC7 equivelant. Will have to leave that to the experts here.
  21. RP, iIrc, that is correct. In any event, it is where two RRs cross, one being the Southern. At Moorhead, Mississippi. There is a historical marker. It's mentioned in one of W.C. Handy's songs, don't remember which.
  22. Will have to agree, The City Grocery in Oxford is quite popular. There was no "Beale Street" in Memphis until AFTER W.C. Handy's song mentioning Beale Street became popular. Although I grew up in the Mississippi Delta, I'm not a large fan of the Blues...but, I have been "where the Southern cross the yeller 'dawg".

  24. Well, I've not spent much time in Natchez, Oxford, or Clarksdale. But, Oxford being a college town, you should have no problems there. The Natchez Trace would be interesting, history wise, to take north, until you have to head toward Oxford, probably just South of Tupelo, on Highway 6. You may visit Elvis Presley's birthplace (a home) in Tupelo. In Memphis, BBQ would be the way to go, with Gridley's being a popular choice.
