  1. (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) At least you are not pursued by angry gods.
  2. I was unaware Sunset was a Mastronardi brand. I hate to sound like a shill, but if I can find them, I buy only Sunset tomatoes. They are consistently good.
  3. Concord grapes have not shown up in the markets here for many years. I do love them. (Concord grapes, not necessarily the local markets.) I purchased Concord grape plants that grew beautifully on my balcony but they never fruited, and my landlord made me abandon my erstwhile horticultural attempts. However -- the compound that flavors concord grapes is available as pesticide. Cross label, it has been used in commercial food products such as grape flavored apples. I am being serious. I have about a gallon left.
  4. Does your landlord know?

    Dinner 2022

    I read that as Yukon.
  6. Last night I had one of the Sunset "Cocktail" tomatoes from Canada. Very good. Sure tasted like Campari to me.
  7. No longer can I delude myself. I have come to accept that my Kyocera knife is dull. It is used daily but has never been in the dishwasher. Has anyone had their Kyocera resharpened?
  8. Do you open Champagne bottles with your sabre?
  9. Silicone jar grips work pretty well for most jars I need to open (and for bottles of Wray & Nephew). If the jar grips don't work I have a Kuhn Rikon jar opener that I can recommend. (eG-friendly Amazon.com link) I am always on the lookout for a better mousetrap.
  10. The Ninja website is offering 30% off.
  11. I read the description but I can't quite envision how it works.
  12. It's been decades since I've brought food to a potluck, but one of my favorite contributions was cannellini beans with tuna and parsley. Liberal garlic and red onion. Dressed with olive oil and balsamic. A wonderful dish because I got to take most of it home. Half the people won't eat it because it contains tuna. The rest won't eat it due to an aversion of raw garlic. Another memorable potluck contribution began life as two dishes, a quiche and a three layer cake with Swiss meringue icing. On the way there was a traffic light that just turned red as I entered the intersection. The traffic light was in front of the former Princeton police station. I thought best to assess the breaks of my Jeep. The top layer of Swiss meringue landed neatly on the quiche. I received many compliments for creativity.
  13. With the mercury hovering just below 100F, I am slurping down another malt flavored frozen treat. Thus liberating one more creami container from the freezer.
  14. In 2014 I purchased an Inomata 10 inch rice washer. I love it. It has served me well. However I wanted a smaller rice washer. With no hesitation I ordered an Inomata 8 inch rice washer. They are exactly the same size.
  15. Can't speak for everyone but I'd have my eggs and bacon with generous jam or jelly.
  16. I have long been a fan of Campari tomatoes. In the US Campari is a trademark, and may legally be one of several tomato varieties -- such as Mountain Magic which used to flourish in great numbers on my balcony. The brand of tomato I prefer to buy is Sunset. I cannot say I remember ever being disappointed by a Sunset tomato. (Some varieties less so than others.) Sunset tomatoes are greenhouse grown, and the ones available locally in New Jersey are produce of either Mexico or Canada. Sadly, for somewhile this summer, I have not found Sunset Campari available to purchase, for blood or treasure.* Either from Shoprite or amazon/Whole Foods. However tonight at Shoprite I noticed the welcome sight of Sunset tomatoes. A large display. Ones from Mexico were labeled Sunset Campari tomatoes. Ones from Canada were labeled Sunset cocktail tomatoes. To my eye, save for the label, both containers looked the same. Intrigued, after some thought, back and forth, I purchased the cocktail tomatoes from Canada to see how they compare with true Campari. My working hypothesis is there is some legal machination why Canadian tomatoes may not be sold in the US as Campari. Does anyone have an answer? *Here blood is easier to come by than treasure.
  17. Oatmeal. I had a discussion this evening with a coworker: he enjoys his oatmeal with sugar, cinnamon. and raisins. His girlfriend has her oatmeal with salsa, vinegar, and peppers.
  18. I think you may be remembering the same incident from a couple years ago. My vegetable gardening at the moment is indoors with a little pot of cilantro and a little pot of thyme.
  19. But @chileheadmike said "a full container". That surprised me.
  20. The sour cream I buy has no liquid on top. I opened a fresh container night before last. Do you make your own?
  21. Skin is supposed to keep the insides in. My skin does not do this well.
  22. She's the landlord.
  23. I will never again cut my arm on a plastic bag.
  24. I had converted to large fabric containers for gardening. Then my landlord made me remove all plants from my deck.
