    Dinner 2019

Tonight: More Tskhare Neknebi, this time with lobio, a different lobio than my usual recipe. Lobio with walnuts and spices, since I had a bowl of walnut paste that needed using up. Campari tomatoes with Momofuku ranch. Pheasant's Tears Saperavi. Somewhere in the refrigerator I lost the cork so I am finishing up the bottle.
  2. The store indeed may be reputable but are it's suppliers? Some while ago I read something, probably either in the NY Times or WSJ, about counterfeits in discount stores that buy this type of merchandise. But I am old and may be confused, so carry on.
  3. Burger King lets you choose.

  5. Teo, speaking as a proud Prime member the $8.32 price does not seem far off. It may not represent my average order price, but it sure is about close to my median order price. Today a shower curtain was delivered for $8.59. Yesterday a Moroccan cookbook for $9.26. A few days ago a pound of yeast for $8.78.
  6. But seriously famous name cookware at closeout discounter places makes me quite suspicious. Note I am not suggesting the store is intentionally selling counterfeit merchandise.
  7. They fit on the counter.
  8. Thanks. I had one of Steve's books but I didn't have Heirloom Beans. Now I do.
  9. I'd wonder if it's counterfeit.
  10. @MetsFan5 if price makes a difference the CSO is down to $159.99 on amazon.
  11. Anova must have them scared. CSO is down to $159.99, lowest price I've seen.
  12. On amazon.com the CSO is currently $159.99.

    Dinner 2019

To tempt @ElsieD, Philips grilled tuna, two and a half minutes per side: Wild rice. Ten minutes. (I was horrified to read Diana Henry seethes forth her wild rice for thirty five.) Simple stir fried zucchini. All of which served as a vehicle for a prodigious amount of Momofuku ranch.
  14. They keep promising a new Whole Foods in walking distance but I have yet to see them break ground.
  15. Almost anything is available for a price, or with the right friends.

I've been reading on Wikipedia that young fontina is soft. My fontina was not.
  17. Indeed, I love it. And I am not the only one. I blame Kerry. https://forums.egullet.org/topic/158072-philips-avance-grill/
  18. I seldom use butter for much beyond eggs and omelets. And of course my mashed potatoes. Typically I buy Shoprite unsalted on sale. However a recent baking project was a batch of aebleskiver... ...for which I needed butter. But what butter? I pored through the butter topic. I searched the web. The aebleskiver recipe I used was from Magnus Nilsson's The Nordic Baking Book. Nowhere I could find what type of butter Nilsson expects for baking. (Nilsson is not a baker.) Naturally I consulted several other aebleskiver sources. Trine Hahnemann in Scandinavian Baking calls for salted butter, stating firmly: "Home baking in Scandinavia has no tradition of using unsalted butter." What I used was Finlandia salted butter in the aebleskiver batter and unsalted Kerry Gold to fry in.
  19. But I love plain sour cream and yogurt!
  20. I envy you. I wish my kitchen had the electrical capacity to run two appliances at once without tripping the circuit breaker.
  21. I'm with @TicTac. Just the thought.
  22. I have a blast freezer on order. https://forums.egullet.org/topic/159512-chocdoc-gambles-on-vegas/?do=findComment&comment=2215135 Black finish. Thinking black would go well with orange.

    Dinner 2019

Ribs, sausages, and Rancho Gordo Marcella beans. Barbara D'Alba and bread not shown.
  24. I've not had any Prime Now two hour food orders arrive outside the promised two hour delivery window. I did have one order (out of many) that for some reason never shipped. But I've never paid extra for the one hour delivery option either. If you need delivery faster than two hours the one hour option is there. I also believe the orders are exceeding capacity to fulfill. That is why they are not accepting new customers in this area. But in the long term is having orders exceeding capacity to fulfill a bad thing for amazon?
  25. Indeed. If only I had a blast freezer! ...oh, wait. Now the question comes down to a choice of orange or blue.
