    Dinner 2020

Thank you. The mushrooms are not precooked. The cheese is fresh mozzarella that has been drained on paper towels. Yes, your eyes deceive you. The CSO is wonderful for many things, however not for pizza. The CSO is great for reheating any leftovers! The pizza is baked on a one inch thick hard anodized aluminum sheet...
  2. What I do, except for the peeling part.
  3. But if you are not baking a lot does not a starter waste a lot of flour?

    Dinner 2020

Mushroom pizza... Unfortunately for the picture I forgot the fresh torn basil. Everyone but @Duvel may believe the basil there. This was a three minute pie, a little longer than my usual. Top and bottom were equally blistered. The dough was one third KAF all purpose organic and two thirds higher extraction, lower protein flour. The crust was to die for, which we all may do soon anyhow. One of my best pizza efforts ever.
  5. These are not normal times.
  6. In the bedroom only two jars left of pickled ramps so I ordered a couple jars of pickled onions at a good price on amazon while I could get them. I am a hoarder, yes. Never thought I'd be a prepper.
  7. What's worse, Zingerman's is sold out of pickled ramps.
  8. If I needed yeast, which thankfully at the moment I do not, I'd pay the amazon scalpers' price. Before things get worse.
  9. "Sorry, this item is out of stock."
  10. "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

    Lunch 2020

He might not get the reference.
  12. Wonderful announcement! Email just came from Astor Wines that in New York at least, wine and spirits merchants have been declared an essential business.

    Lunch 2020

This way @Duvel might believe you.
  14. This time I can't tell if you are being serious. I assumed we were discussing instant yeast. I've never seen fresh yeast for sale this century. Though if your delivery is from Amazon Fresh I suppose that would be fresh yeast.
  15. I doubt somehow that you have used these in the CSO.
  16. Thankfully I've never heard a bang from either of two CSO's. Worst I've heard is whining noise from a failing fan.

  18. Don't bother checking King Arthur Flour. By the way, a much cheaper online source of yeast is Supermarket Italy...but they don't have yeast either.
  19. If you mean Amazon Fresh, they stopped operation in this area quite some time ago. For Amazon Prime Now I've been doing what your friend is doing, so far no success.
  20. I checked a couple of my usual online suppliers. No yeast. Amazon has yeast if you want to pay the price.
  21. When I could get Amazon Fresh the deliveries were made by the post office. Through rain and snow and all of that.
  22. Sadly Amazon Fresh is no longer available where I live. I rely on Amazon Prime Now.
  23. Shoprite had signs up saying they had checkout lanes dedicated to people 60 plus. Except, in fact, they didn't.
  24. As it turns out I did visit Shoprite this evening. I had two prescriptions ready at the pharmacy; and the pharmacy is right near Shoprite. I limited myself to what I could cradle in my arms to avoid a shopping cart. Very few people -- about a third of whom were wearing masks. I had on a respirator. There were older people and younger people. All but one were polite and respectful of social distance. The man in question leaned over me while shouting in his cellphone. I wondered to myself if the virus could be spread by biting. The store had lots of limes but since I already had my lime delivery for the day I concentrated on items my friend's husband couldn't find. The store had hundreds of cucumbers of different kinds! Logic being that cucumbers can be washed and peeled. I bought some rooted lettuce in a plastic clamshell, figuring it would be safe in a day or two. I still have my own lettuce growing in the dinning room; though these days not a lot remains. Not long ago the Click & Grow seemed rather silly. Now, not so much. Pretty baby bok choy. Wish I had come home with more. I also picked up carrots and celery. You may wonder "Celery?" However in a month or two that celery could be looking mighty good. Oh, and two jars of peanut butter, on sale from the pharmacy.
  25. My bread lighting is the overhead bare lightbulbs in the kitchen...sigh.
