Unless a lot of canaries are cooking I suspect not many. Or perhaps I should say I suspect not many illnesses/deaths are identifiable as directly related to nonstick cookware. But who really knows? It’s not something I lose a lot of sleep over.

Wouldn’t you also risk that the substrate would melt?

I thought it was just a sad omelet, nothing to do with your cooking, just sad.

Dinner tonight. I really fancied some broccoli and I wanted to test out soft boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. Since I live alone... These were fridge cold, large supermarket eggs. I cooked them in the mini using steam for three minutes with quick release. Then they went into ice water for just a few seconds so I could peel them. They are lovely eggs but a little too firm for my liking. Tomorrow (should nature smile upon me during the ice storm) and I still have hydro, I will try them for two minutes. I know that the mini takes longer to reach pressure and that may be the issue here.

What constitutes a good eGullet food challenge?

Wow that’s an awfully long time! But I’m guessing they remained juicy and tender? But I’m guessing they remained juicy and tender?

We’ve had a number of challenge threads which have been great fun but they’ve also been inclusive. I don’t find this challenge to be inclusive or acknowledging various cultural, dietary, religious etc. limitations of a very diverse group of members. Doesn’t even apply equally to all American members. I suspect that making a meal for $5 in Alaska is considerably more difficult than doing the same elsewhere in the USA. I admire and applaud the enthusiasm of the poster and proposer of this challenge but I don’t see it as particularly plausible. By all means for those who want to take it up — good luck.

It only really works for American members. I laugh at your costs.

Thanks but I think I am just a hater of legumes. They can’t all be under cooked.

I wish you only joy with your new pans.

Damn. I’m really hurt that you ignored my pun. But click. And click. I remember rather desperately wanting some of this cookware way back when and being very discouraged when I did some research on it. YMMV and I hope it does.

Hamilton’s memoir is a fabulous read.

It’s on my wish list but so is so much else.

Minimal sticking and a good wack of the rack on the edge of the sheet pan dislodged the odd recalcitrant one. Mine were rolled in sugar and gently flattened just bit with my hand before being scored.
