CANNOT, CANNOT relinquish my BSO.

I'm working on the problems. Once I get my kitchen in some sort of order I will post a photograph so you get the idea of how impossible it is to find a spot that doesn't create other issues. I have just used my walker to push my Modernist Cusine volumes into the front room. Forgot how freaking heavy they are! I am not WHINNG just sharing.

The only two that seem to operate here are Chefs' Plate which was horrible and Hello Fresh. Mind you I haven't done much research recently so there may be more. No matter what it would only be a fun experiment and not a way to ensure that I am adequately fed. I am much too inclined to do my own thing to last very long on any sort of meal plan.

Well it has now progressed into the kitchen. I have put it through a self clean cycle and I'm now drying it out on the convection bake cycle just to make sure all things work. However nothing will ever get cooked in this thing until I can find some space in my kitchen which now feels as if it is closing in on me. I thought perhaps I could gain some space by moving my microwave elsewhere in the house since its only real use that cannot be duplicated by any other appliance is heating a special disk for my orphan kittens when I get any. But since the microwave is under cabinets it's not an appropriate spot for a steam oven. Then I thought I could put it on the counter to the right of my sinks. But then the steam would threaten my copies of Modernist Cuisine. It is a puzzlement. My whole living space is about 550 sq ft.

Bet we have one on the forum somewhere. Patience, Grasshopper (as they say in Canada).

@liuzhou Did you see my link above?

I have been on the same quest for many years on and off. This is the closest I came.

Exactly. My confidence has certainly been shaken.

Well my son unpacked the CSO tonight. So progress is being made. It is still on my dining room table but no longer enclosed in cardboard.

I don't know if you are the only one but it would never occur to me to steam mushrooms. That is not a judgement. I have never done it. But I would love to hear why you choose to steam them.

Hard to beat it! Thanks for everyone's good wishes.

@patris I can't imagine how stressful it must be after a long day at work to come home and discover that the meal you were expecting was missing its main ingredient. Hard to imagine how that could happen.

Today Kerry took me out for a birthday lunch. I chose the restaurant: Miso Sushi & Tapas on the Lakeshore in Oakville. We shared a variety of dishes. Kerry drank green tea and I had some hot sake. They had a sake list the likes of which I have never seen in my life and their bar seemed pretty well stocked too. Miso Calamari. Whole squid half deep fried, half grilled. Mushroom butter Yaki: an assortment of mushrooms sautéed in butter. Pork Rib Kakuni: slow braised (24 hour) pork rib with a kick of spicy Japanese mustard. Yam Tempura: deep fried sweet potato tempura roll. Double Shrimp Rock Roll:. Shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, with "rock" sauce topped with Shrimp Rock. (normally has crab in it but we asked them to leave it out).

What, may I ask, is non correct food. Sounds a bit racy.

So here is an update. Early this morning my PayPal account was once again charged for my subscription to Hello Fresh so I was all set to expect delivery on Friday of next week. Just this minute I got a call from them saying they would once again like to move my delivery date from Friday to Thursday. I declined that opportunity and then they attempted to move it even earlier in the week. Then they finally said, "We don't have Friday deliveries. That was a mistake." Duh? So I said that until they had Friday deliveries, let's not do this. Much of this frustration could have been avoided had they called me after I placed my order choosing Friday on the computer to say that their system was wrong and apologized for making it seem as though Friday was a possibility. So there it is. No meal subscription plan for me this time around.

Most of the time, most of us think we do. If not as kings then as queens and all the in betweens.

Well I resisted with every fibre of my being but apparently I was sending out some sort of sigbal that I was only kidding about no space for a CSO. Today one showed up at my house and is now sitting in its box on my dining room table while I stare at my kitchen in dismay and wonder where in the hell I'm going to put it. Ingratitude is not my style so some how, some way I am going to have to find a place for it to live and thrive. Let the games begin. I know a few members who will be more than happy to welcome me to the Darkside. You know who you are @rotuts and @Shelby among others.

@liuzhou Not a thing wrong with sardines on toast even if unphotogenic. When the cupboard is bare and the purse is empty sardines are a cheap, tasty and healthy source of protein. Must re-stock.

Thought you were mainly concerned with spilled kibble. There are roombas that will wash your floor but I have never owned one so I can't comment on their efficacy. On the matter of the steak….How about a lamb chop dropped one story down onto the lower neighbour's concrete patio? Retrieved by @Kerry Beal without missing a beat. Don't know whether she ate it or I ate it but we're both here to tell the tale.

One word: Roomba. Don't be scared by the retail prices. Hang out in thrift stores long enough and you will find one or more. I have found three that way and I could not live without a Roomba. You may have to fork out $50 for a new battery but it will last a long time. I have an elderly cat as a guest at the moment and we both suffer from old age and arthritis. She scatters kibble and cat litter everywhere. She does not like the Roomba but I do!

Today Kerry Beal and I found ourselves taking care of errands all too close to our very favourite Ramen house, Kenzo in Mississauga. We shared some delicious takoyaki. Kerry stuck with her favourite King Shoyu Ramen. And I had the Black Tonkotsu Ramen.

Report: eGullet Chocolate and Confectionary Workshop 2017

I don't really think you can a beat sprig of mint and some shaved chocolate. But you might want to go out on a limb with some of the thin chocolate mint cookies or sticks that are available most places. I am sure somebody with more creative juices flowing will come up with something better. But there's nothing worse in my humble opinion than something that is on the plate but not in the dish.
