Wow. I am so glad I didn’t miss out on this one. I was a bit iffy as sushi is not really where I’m at but it is a fascinating book that covers much more than sushi. Thanks once again for what you do in bringing this to our attention.

Innovation or abomination? Here. Canned salmon miso don. It was tasty and another option for when grocery shopping just has to wait.

Miso soup with wakame and potatoes and a simple poached egg on rice seasoned with matcha salt. (The wakame was a left over so there’s a little more than is appropriate in this bowl of soup.)

Pretty much. 350°F, steam/bake x 10 min.

Dinner interruptus! Dinner was almost ready when I got a text from my granddaughter asking if she and a couple of friends could come over for a visit. I can eat at any time but only visit with my granddaughter when it works for her. No complaints. I reheated dinner in the Cuisinart Steam Oven and it was still quite pleasant. Duck breast with roasted parsnips, carrots and potatoes.

They weren’t meant to be delicate. They were meant to go on sea voyages.

Why not? It’s always good to have a spare on the old Kindle. Thank you.

@liuzhou Did you deep fry them? I ask because they definitely don’t look the same as mine which are slowly fried in their own rendered fat.

My eye was drawn to the washboard and to the cast iron corn bread pans! Not for me the corn bread pans but remember the lady who was looking for them Up in Espanola?

I went for the sushi book. I’m in my Japanese phase and interested in just about everything Japanese that’s linked to food in anyway. Thank you for posting this... I think. I thank you... my bank account perhaps not quite so much!

I realize I am getting boring and monotonous. Cabbage rolls again. Sometimes I have to conserve my energy for other important stuff and let the freezer take care of the food.

I don’t know. There’s not much that wouldn’t work with this crowd. I have never made a no bake confection but there’s always a first time. Thanks for thinking of me. Some days I need easy!

Thanks for this. I love egg custard and have not had one in years.

It was a no-brainer today. Chewy chocolate chip cookies made with some fabulous Ecuadorean chocolate. Of course I could probably have made them with compound chocolate and they would still disappear almost as fast. But I have some pride and my granddaughter will eat more than her share no doubt.

Shirred Shiitake Eggs from Eric Gower’s The Breakaway Cook. Even a bit overcooked these elicited some accidental sounds of satisfaction from me. Click.

I’ll book the flight if you will promise me a plate of your chicken and chips with all its accompaniments. I won’t even ask to share your pizza.

All your efforts look amazing but these ones really caught my eye. Bet they’d go over with the SIL’s Meeting peeps. -
You fried them whole? I’ve never heard of that. They look amazing.

Japanese cabbage rolls (from the freezer), carrot and scallion salad enlivened with some kimchi furikake.

That was your mother speaking from the Other Side.

Quite an amazing coincidence.
