  1. You’re gonna love it!
  2. what is that?
  3. When my GE’s magnetron died a few years ago I looked around locally for a replacement but didn’t find one to my liking. Since I liked the one I had and The settings on it are very convenient, I opted to have it repaired. Not a cheap fix but I’m very satisfied with it. I use it every day. In fact, I used it just moments ago to heat the milk for my Tom & Jerry (it’s cold here).
  4. In her defense, she’s probably not old enough to have ever heard of Popeye the Sailor man.
  5. Me too. I have two that are bulging. The task of emptying and defrosting them is simply beyond me without help. I can't find anything because they're so full. As I see it I have two options: One is to simply take everything out and toss it. Two is to buy a new upright that is frost-free and load what I want to save into that and then eliminate one of the others. Tell me I'm crazy.

    Your egg journey

    OMG...nothing’s less appetizing!
  7. 12 days is a v-e-r-y long time. If that happened here people would die.
  8. It's the blonde joke come to life.
  9. At the Costco here all the crab I saw was marked 'previously frozen'. I never bought any. The crab in the regular grocery stores is fresh.
  10. I resolved the problem with the new grill I was sent as a replacement: I contacted W-S and asked them to have UPS pick it up and return it. I’m just not comfortable with keeping it. And I don’t think I really need the wire grill.
  11. There is an ad in today’s Oregonian newspaper by Fred Meyer’s grocery that lists Fresh Dungeness crab for $5.99 per lb.
  12. Apparently they ran out of chuck and subbed the round for it. I put chuck on my order for next week but made a note that they not substitute.
  13. Actually the hamburger was really good. I made up 5 4.5 oz. patties from the ground round and froze the other four. I’m thinking it’s gonna be hamburger tomorrow as well!
  14. My grocery order this week included ground chuck which I intended for hamburgers. Unfortunately they subbed ground round instead. I made up some patties this afternoon with an assortment of seasonings; s&p. granulated garlic, dried onion, onion powder, paprika, cayenne. Hamburger sandwich to be made on the PAG.
  15. Too bad @blue_dolphin already has one, I’d send it to her.
  16. My replacement delivery from W-S arrived lat night. But, guess what? What they sent me wasn’t the wire grill that was missing from my first shipment but an entire new grill!!! Whaaa?? Now I’m not sure what to do. I don’t really care about the wire grill but a whole new grill? It just seems too much. What to do? ETA: I know, I could give it to a friend but I don’t know anyone who cooks like me and who’d appreciate t fully. ETA: No, it still didn’t include the wire grill.

    Breakfast 2020!

That’s my idea of a baked potato! I used to buy the big 20-lb. bags of bakers at Costco...potatoes were huge. These days I can’t eat that much, I”m lucky if I can eat Half a normal-sized one. But I still love potatoes in any form.
  18. Fresh Dungeness crab in the store today! Doesn’t happen often so I was excited. Only $6.98 a pound. Crab for dinner.

    Dinner 2020

OMG! Michael Symon makes me want to throw up. His incessant cackling is intolerable. IMO, he is an idiot. Not saying he can’t cook, just that I can’t watch him.
  21. But my milk already includes its own container.
  22. I can only hope that milk in bags never catches on here. i don’t want wiggly jiggly bags of liquid anywhere near my fridge! What’s wrong with rigid containers? Besides, I usually buy mine in quart (liter) containers.
  23. I made @mgaretz's recipe for cabbage soup last night (put off from Wednesday). Very, very good. I do love cabbage. It's quite different from the recipe I usually use which was my Mother's. Hers uses pork (usually country style ribs) and beef broth instead of the tomato/sauce combo. It also has potatoes and sometime rutabaga. It's a favorite nostalgic recipe of mine.
  24. I don't know the answer to this. My grill/roti combo was delivered without the wire grill although it was supposed to be included. I contacted W-S and they said they'd have a replacement shipped out pronto. It still hasn't arrived. I contacted W-S again and there was an error so it did not get shipped (as of Tuesday). It's scheduled now to arrive either today or Monday. I'll post back when I've had a chance to use it. But, like @ElsieDI think it may not be necessary. I don't cook a lot of fish so I don't know how soon I'll really need to use it. BTW, the non-stick grid is VERY easy to clean. A quick brush with hot soap and water and it's done.
